I feel like all of those “deep” books like life unaware are often 1 star material for me.

NERDS? 😂 That's a new introduction HAHA. Glad that you're finally finished for the ACOTAR series until the next book come out.
The Measure is one that I really want to read. I love the dystopian/sci-fi vibes of that. Especially now since you're comparing between our current world politics and the "fictional" world. Personally on my end... I kind of like the author's interpretations of it. 😅Just to see how obvious our timeline is going.
All supports for RF Kuang 💪I ended up really enjoying The Poppy War a lot 🥰Definitely agree that it makes you feel a lot of emotions. She has a lot of realism to her book -- though my friend actually read it with me because of the POGO day... and we went back and forth, the only criticism I felt is that it's a little too realistic? Such as something has already happened in our world and it felt close to a copy & paste. Wish she'd add a little more of her own interpretations.
I really hate the overblown of tropes now... forcefully putting tropes into books just for the marketing aspects. But also like sometimes, I get influenced because I hear such and such book has tropes that I enjoy... and then I read it and it's not true 😅Bring back the old marketing of books PLEASE. I just wanna know the synopsis.

@@itsmimiduong lol 😂 Of course my pea sized brain didn't acknowledge the fact that is was clearly dystopian so now i'm not surprised that I liked it a lot because I LOVE dystopian!
Kuang's books from what I've read so far are all based around real events. There's an authors note at the beginning of Babel stating what she changed to fit her fictional timeline better but it lined up pretty well for the events back then. I need to read Yellowface next and I'm curious to see if that is her first novel not strictly following anything that has happened in our world!
I still buy books that are marketed as my fav tropes because it's so fun but they definitely have to meet my expectations! But I agree, I wish we went back to minimal info on books. I like to be surprised 😂

@@zachreads Sounds like a good month! The Shadow of What Was Lost sounded interesting from the title so I looked up the synopsis. It sounds super interesting so I'll definitely be adding that to my radar!
