What resonated to me was what your manager said, “there’s nothing here that anybody needs, we are just aspirations and dreams.” Very true! I never started luxury until I was in my 50’s after establishing my career, house, kids done with college (1 almost) and travelled. I thought… hmm.. now I NEED these lux goods that I lusted for years when I can’t afford it or not in my priority to capped my accomplishments, the icing on the cake. What I found in these lux journey is that the line between the wants versus needs narrowed. I ended up NEEDING more and more. But it’s just really A WANT. I still have my wish list but will be more conscientious now before purchasing anything. Thank you Michelle for this video.
What a good revelation Michelle! This is particularly helpful for everyone to be considerate to the SA and also to someone who wants to work in the retail or LV store. The whole sales and category quotas are way too stressful mentally. This probably explains the unenthusiastic SA’s service if they feel clients will not purchase anything. Personally, I never walked in a luxury story with no “INTENTION” of buying something. I’ve walked out empty handed because the bag I intended to purchase did not work for my liking or it’s not available. I declined politely to SA when offered to try on products I have no plan of purchasing sparing waste of my time and the SA’s.
If someone wants to look and think about it…that’s ok!! But some people do that with zero intention of anything and I even remember guys asking me “why should I buy this?” about a card holder just because they want to debate 🤷🏻♀️ You literally don’t have to buy it…next! 😂
I honestly didn't know much about the LV brand. I learned a lot from your video. I agree with your pov on customer entitlement - that's so crazy! Really fascinating to watch and learn; you are just lovely. Thanks!
I’m always nice, respectful, and kind to the lady who helps me at LV. I would never demand to be helped right away, I’m Happy to wait my turn till she is freed up. After watching this I’m reaching out to her to make sure she’s the only one I buy from.
Thank you for spilling the tea on the ins and outs of working at LV. Stress at work is so hard. Very helpful retail and thank you for pointing out seasonal employees don’t get discounts. I admit I have thought about working as a seasonal employee to get the discounts. Thank you for sharing your story ♥️
I am so grateful for my CA at LV..I have worked with her for years.... she told me I am more than a client.. we are like friends.... I used to work in retail when I went to school.. know a lot about pressure on monthly quotas ... thank you for sharing your experience
I feel like I'm carrying a piece of luxury art when I hold my *amzrepe* . The exquisite design and meticulous craftsmanship make it a true masterpiece.
Yes Girl, spill the tea!! I know there is good and bad with every job! OMG My Dad had 5 restaurants and I hated working in our restaurants, the customer is always right..yeah right! I love LV but the prices are getting too much for some things like the Neverfull in canvas. "Selling the dream!" Interesting video Michelle!
I interviewed with lv a few months ago, got past the first 4 interviews then at the final stage when I shared my need for a healthy work life balance they ghosted me 🤣 that was the only answer I needed.
“Do you know how hard it is to sell a trunk” 😂 my last day was yesterday, I was part time… goal $135k, I couldn’t sell jewelry to save my life, the manager loved me and tried to get me to stay, voice 100% every time. I’ve been in retail for 30 years and have never had real PTSD from any job. I will from this. You are spot on with every point you make. After putting my notice in, the other associates confided in me about their personal stress levels and many in tears after each and every work day. Literally yesterday one of the seemingly tough girls came out of our shared bathroom after 15 minutes wiping tears from her eyes. Returns, repairs, rudeness, and that damn phone… one girl calls it her tumor. And don’t get me started on the managers harping on the new 10k lifestyle goal! Good luck to you, I’ll be licking my wounds and detoxing for a few days
Thank you so much for your sweet comment and making these videos! I forwarded them to a colleague/friend who is on a mental health leave right now. She loved them.
So horrible! The true character of a person is shown when you see how they treat people in the service industry. I worked at a young age in retail, and decided then and there I would never work in a service dept. as an adult. Great tea!
I’m so sorry to hear about customers being rude to you. You sound so nice! I used to work at Nordstrom and while most of my customers were friendly, there were some that were not so nice. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I think looking I. From the outside is always different from reality. I worked at a cosmetic counter at Macy’s years ago, I was the counter manager for Prescriptives in my store, and we had sales goals, demands from the store and the company, just all kinds of stress, and some nasty customers on top of it. I think it’s always important to remember that the SA is trying their best to help you but they are only human, and the products are just manufactured goods.
Oh Dawn…I’ve had customers complain to me about not wanting to buy the bag because of the quality…as if I made the bag with my hands, and as if we were holding a gun to their head making them buy! Humans are funny creatures!
Hi Michelle! This is one of the best videos I have seen. I learned so much. At times I laughed and at times I was shocked! Excellent, excellent unveiling of this highly esteemed position and the world of luxury, I am amazed! Thank you so much for sharing. I am sure I’ll be watching this video again and again. Much love❤️
I agree. But I recently purchased some shoes and after 3 mild wears, the bottom heel started coming apart. lol. I love the boots. Took into store to show her damage and she tells me I should put taps on my shoes. I'm like NO, I don't put taps on any of my shoes and after 3 mild wears the heel should not be chipping off. lol. I'm exchanging on Thursday.
I’m curious are they leather soles? Leather soles always need to be taken to the cobbler for protective soles regardless of where it’s bought from. However, I do agree with you they should not split after 3 wears!
@@dialmstyle Startrail. Rubber sole I've owned about 500 pair of shoes and never once added taps before wear. After a season I may have work done on them from cobbler but not prior to wearing. I don't drive in them or anything strenuous. I actually just went shopping walking around mall in them looking cute lol. No shoe, no matter what cost should start having damage after 3 mile uses lol. I love the boots though so I'm getting my exchange. I guess I learned lesson with these and may have to get work done before I wear. My Gucci boots never did this.
Oh that is bad! Rubber soles don’t need reinforcement. Just goes to show how the company may be cutting costs in manufacturing! Those boots are super cute though!
@@dialmstyle exactly lol. I actually sent my SA a very very detailed email yesterday that I found it offensive that she instructed me to add taps to rubber heels. If they were not going to exchange i was at the point of filing a consumer claim with my credit card. Wasn't going to pay all that $ for chipping boots. If I didn't stand up for myself I would be stuck with defective boots.
Preach! I worked in retail in cosmetics and then customer service in call centers for 25 years. You ae so right with some people's sense of entitlement. We all poop and we all die in the end. Nothing makes someone more special or unique! Hugs and Happy New Year!
Hi Michelle! I am watching all your videos over again. I absolutely love this video! You nailed it! I think you are absolutely awesome! Thank you for sharing all of your adventures with us. Have a wonderful weekend my friend❤️❤️
Very true in saying that LVMH puts pressure on SA/ People at the bottom. I know a couple people working for LV corporate or DIOR corporate and they adore their job. For Christmas she got a nice basket of DIOR products and the working conditions are FAB ! But I know SA are unfortunately not so well off. Did you have goals on selling furniture?
Of course, please make it your goal to sell at least one Objects Nomad, which is a home item. 😂😂😂 Btw, there is no reward. I was cut shortly after I sold the trunk anyway!
Michelle, it's clear how upsetting the whole experience was even now as you talk about it. It sounds worse than the 13-14 hour non stop urgent care shifts where I would forget to pee because we had to see so many people. And people were angry, demanding and argumentative with us too. But at least the other staff members and managers weren't competing against me or pressuring me to reach a sales goal. I always slept the day after shift too. I am glad you left , as there is no reason to treat luxury retail staff so poorly. I am sure LV wasn't facing a huge staffing shortage, if they'd treated employees well.
Some people are sooooo confident and ballsy in their approach to workers, like demanding a new bag after 8 years?! I could never work in retail, my patience is too thin for that behavior. I have a job where people need me and they are still often abusive.
I cannot do it anymore. Narcissism and entitlement is becoming worse and worse. I was embarrassed for these people coming to return worn shoes… 😳…Thanks for watching!
I’m not sure how long ago you worked there but I keep hearing about the new direction and style of Louis Vuitton. Do you like that new direction? Looks like they are trying to cater to a younger crowd.
The return policies in the US are far too lenient imo. I lived in Thailand for several years. There were no returns. Once you bought it, it was yours. I went to the MAC counter in a department store and asked for two particular brushes. When I got back to my car, one of them was wrong and not the one I asked for. Too bad, I paid for it, it was now mine. I bought an iron that stopped working after a couple of days. I took it back and they literally plugged it in at the customer service counter to verify it really wasn’t working. No refund though, I was only allowed to exchange for the exact same iron.
I shopped my first item on Louis in northern Germany. I felt the pressure the SA had. She was friendly. But I had the feeling with every question I asked her, she was more stressed and by the end I didn’t want to see some other stuff. I was interested in some bags, but in the end I didn’t enjoy the visit at the store. I thought it was terrible. Not the service I thought it would be. And the reason for it was not the SA. I think it is the structure in this company.
@@dialmstyle I know they want only to make money, but for that high prices I expect a different shopping- experience! I don’t want to feel rushed! Like you said: they don’t sell anything you really need, it’s merchandise, a logo etc.
I’ve worked retail for many, many years and the abuse by customers is at every price point. You’d think the more prestigious the brand the better the customer, definitely NOT! Some people need to be more reasonable with expectations
Aww thank you David. Well to spill the tea…if one took too long with a customer, managers were not always happy with that…rush rush rush, and since we had to make our goals, my calm demeanor went out the window! You just become a pawn. I did have my amazing clients though that I didn’t mind spending time with and not rushing.
If 50% of the customers come in feeling entitled and c/o about creases (which will happen no matter what), then those people should either shop somewhere else or spend their money on something they do not mind getting creases. Alternatively, they should buy their brand new purses (or whatever) and just put it in a display case and never touch it. Then there will be no creases. This is insanity!
Ive worked in a convince store for 4 years and thinking of moving on to luxury once I complete my degree. We have people all the time come in for similar requests. "I pumped unleaded but wanted premium, give me a refund! There's a dent in this 30 pack of beers I opened already, let me exchange!" At the end of the day, no matter the industry, there will always be customers strictly there for business, and those looking to try to con you/the company.
Hello! I’m a fan and a new sub, and I have a question, what’s your opinion on cowhide wallets from LV? I used to have the monogram canvas but recently I purchased the multiple wallet in cowhide leather but now I am not sure if I want to keep it. I want to hear from you if I should, my issue with it is that there’s some kind of glue or adhesive thats peeling off of the leather. It’s a 800$ wallet and I wanna make sure that it’s worth it and a good investment and that it will last me a lifetime. Hope to hear back from you. I would appreciate it a lot
Oh, Michelle, thank you! A great experience to show that work is just work with all issues as other works. When I worked with VIPs, from a side it looks fabulous, but it was so exhausting… love your talking videos!:)
It is often seen in some countries that customers put on a tough attitude in order to make them on the 'right' side - which is very rude and stupid. Understand the return policy before buying stuff - if you have the right to do so - do it in a decent manner.
Great video, Michelle! I applaud you for sticking it out at a retail establishment that had to deal with what sounds like some real "doozies." LV sounds like a place where you'd think that clients especially would be very well-behaved. I've worked a lot of jobs dealing with the public, from selling giftware and groceries, to working in a municipal office dealing with folks needing to pay their auto and real estate taxes. I have to say that while all jobs had their "challenging" customers, the higher the ticket price of the bill (real estate and auto taxes as an example), the snobbier/nastier people could become when they didn't get what they demanded. You should have been given full-time hours and not be required to hustle so hard for very little commission. I wish folks would live by Golden Rule and treat people right, regardless of the side of the transaction they're on. Keep spilling that tea!! 🙂
Thanks Mikel! The entitlement is the worst, and here’s the kicker, it’s never the richest folks…sometimes is…but mostly those who were insecure about spending the money! Have a nice day!
"Aspirational" is the operative word here. I've always said that luxury brands are not for rich people --- they are for those who aspire to be rich. Most of the wealthy people I've known don't care about luxury brands. THAT would explain the quality of the demanding and entitled customers (and high rate of returns) that you were dealing with.
I definitely would expect a luxury store to be extremely competitive and difficult to work in. That said them not raising your pay when you raise your goals is kind of a bummer. Hopefully Louis Vuitton will change that. Maybe your video will shame them into it. I’m definitely OK with jobs being difficult but if you’re not being compensated properly, that’s not cool.
I used to walk in to see the items to try them on or just to see it in person. Now I am afraid of wasting a CA's time. Is it really bad to shop without purchasing something? And they insist on assigning someone to me, due to COVID. I miss the old days when we could just walk in and browse. I love your channel, the truth just hurts. I am not the rude one, but the browser one😬
No, don’t feel bad, it’s part of the job, always people looking. It’s when they are rude, don’t want help and want to touch everything on their own, or some people act like it’s a museum with no intention to buy but demand a lot of time, or when they spend an hour looking, only to come back and buy it from someone else… there’s a difference between awareness and not self-aware. Thank you for watching!
all these crazy demands from people wanting a refund or exchange when they've clearly used or abused their products (and sometimes way past the return window)...please tell me that LV's policy is to REJECT THEM, right???
Hey! Thanks for the video! I would have never thought that there would be shoplifting in an LV store. Maybe this is a difference between Europe and America. Most LV stores here have a guard of some sort. Interesting to hear more about customers with crazy demands ;) Treating people with respect is definitely better than kissing someones feet. At least in my opinion. Irrespective of if someone is a customer or an employee. I hope that you have a great week!
Yes this is what we want to know😁Any job working with the public is very challenging - sooooo many people are rude and entitled and belittling people who serve them is the only joy they have in their life.
And I just applied. Maybe God will save me and I won't get hired. Maybe I'll go to Hugo Boss. How much Capucines mini would cost now? They're not telling me it on Web site.
I’ll be slightly lucid here. Execs probably care about equity over the pay structure you mentioned for sales associates. I do not disagree that execs get paid but for a designer to get paid 100k on Glassdoor in America puts you in the top 10% of households in America which is over 50% of other designers. Which is pretty good.
Watched your video to the end and my heart was breaking. Why? Because I am you, have been with LV well over 10 years and listening to you just hits reality button! Every thing you mentioned applies to my role, and I’m on the other side of the world. Same company, same BS. Kept on a leash, constantly monitored, no progression, unappreciated….
@@dialmstyle that’s crazy. I finished watching the video, and it sounds like an awful job! I’ve always, especially a few years ago when LV was under Marc Jacobs, wanted to do part time at LV, thinking that it’s a glamorous job. But now, omg…. It’s a rude awakening and I have a greater appreciation for sales force at LV! ❤️
I blame the rudeness of people who think that it's ok to treat people nasty because you have money ! Guess what we all bleed and breath the same air!! Put yourself in the sale person position ! How would like to be treated that way !!! Karma is real ! God help them rude arrogant non caring individuals
People suck. I work in healthcare. Rude, demanding, obnoxious. I love my CA. I feel terrible if I return something for crap quality. Now I feel like I should boycott this company.
Aw thanks! You should absolutely return something that does not satisfy you. I hear more and more from healthcare workers…bottom line, we are only numbers to corporate 😢
I saw first hand a LV customer returning a used bag while I was in a busy LV store. I have returned a few new unused items & it went very smoothly. I did notice the LV employees seemed more tense in the busier LV store as opposed to LV employees in the LV boutiques in the department stores.
Wow! you deserve a prize for being honest and sharing your experience. A lot employees are afraid to share due to retaliation, but people should know that working in luxury brands is not a fairy tale at all. Sometimes is more like a nightmare well dressed.
LOVE IT WHEN U SAY,,,,,LV makes you a " HUMAN WALKING BILLBOARD " as a customer,,, and saying " I'M JUST HERE SELLING THE DREAMS as a SALES ASSOCIATTE" very TRUE INDEED!!!
LV is now synonymous with trashy for me. The quality is just no. Hermes is still high end for real. Chanel is getting to be a bit like LV. I do not have an urge anymore to wear LV on me.
Im sorry but i laughed waaaaay too hard. I also work in services but dang your job in the US sounds like hell. Maybe thats why they compared hell to it so much.
All of this for a darn hand bag !! I know it's called luxury but it's way over rated ! Life is not about a darn over rated bag ! Heck people need homes kids need education and much need guidance in life!! I have know problem with the finer things to have or enjoy in life but when this much attention is put on material things your focus is way off especially these ridiculous prices are you kidding me !!!!! Not just LV ! Hermes is absolutely insane that's like a down payment on a house think about it !!!
Yep, girl, hear you. Long time LV employee here….. you are spot on. Toxic toxic toxic

Well to spill the tea…if one took too long with a customer, managers were not always happy with that…rush rush rush, and since we had to make our goals, my calm demeanor went out the window! You just become a pawn. I did have my amazing clients though that I didn’t mind spending time with and not rushing.
I was about to apply knowing that I probably wouldn't think it would be too magical and now I really think it would be a horrible toxic experience
I was blindly addicted to toxic relationships at the time…Vuitton was no exception! 😂
Interesting, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Cathy ❤️
My SA was a sweet guy (Rome, Italy). I hope he’s doing well.
Oh my goodness…yes, any job with the public is certainly trying!
What store or state is this store in ? Thank you.
I enjoy watching all your videos!!!
❤️
If something is peeling to nothing you did, bring it back to see if it’s a defect!
Oh, Michelle, thank you! A great experience to show that work is just work with all issues as other works. When I worked with VIPs, from a side it looks fabulous, but it was so exhausting… love your talking videos!:)
Thank you so much friend ❤️
@@dialmstyle ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing! Loved your video!
Thank you!
It is often seen in some countries that customers put on a tough attitude in order to make them on the 'right' side - which is very rude and stupid. Understand the return policy before buying stuff - if you have the right to do so - do it in a decent manner.
Yep…I think that stupid attitude exists everywhere 🙄 But also nice people still exist…
Have a great n prosperous day ♥️♥️♥️
Love it! Have a lovely and prosperous day! 🔥

I work for AX and it is the same invierment
I really enjoy these story time videos 💕
Hey girl ❤️
I have bought at least 50 items from LV and never one return.
Thank you…you get it!
I am angry that workers are expected to follow up with clients outside of work hours. That is absolutely a labor violation!
Yes!
Love all your videos btw
Thank you so much!
Interesting Michelle, thankyou 🥰
Thank you!
all these crazy demands from people wanting a refund or exchange when they've clearly used or abused their products (and sometimes way past the return window)...please tell me that LV's policy is to REJECT THEM, right???
@@stormzybanksy YES..:but they don’t wanna listen!
Hi Robin! A huge problem here in California is that the politicians are soft on crime, meaning lenient on theft! 🤦🏻♀️ have a great week!
Yes this is what we want to know😁Any job working with the public is very challenging - sooooo many people are rude and entitled and belittling people who serve them is the only joy they have in their life.
Yes Petrina! Thank you!
😆 “brace yourself we don’t know what we’re going to get..”
I feel Like they are an investment … I could spend my $ on a lesser bag but then when I am tired of those they would be worthless … 🤔
Love your channel, but turn off the music 🎶. It is hard to hear. Similar to dillards in quotas, sales goals. Ridiculous.
And I just applied. Maybe God will save me and I won't get hired. Maybe I'll go to Hugo Boss. How much Capucines mini would cost now? They're not telling me it on Web site.
Give us the juice, Michelle! Here for the tea! 😉
Hi Bernadette ❤️
thank you so much for info
Thank you Hamid
Love the thumbnail 🔥🔥🔥
I’m sure they cut corners since most of the money probably goes to the designers and the shows
It goes to the execs…not the designers…
I’ll be slightly lucid here. Execs probably care about equity over the pay structure you mentioned for sales associates. I do not disagree that execs get paid but for a designer to get paid 100k on Glassdoor in America puts you in the top 10% of households in America which is over 50% of other designers. Which is pretty good.
Now I understand why my SA arrive and go… so sad
Yes…unfortunately they don’t care about employee retention!
Love the content
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Very interesting!
Hi friend!
I can't get over your manager cutting you guys by 5 hours to avoid overtime so it doesn't cut into her bonus. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
So if you don't make your monthly goal of 100,000 are you going to be fired?
Yes girl, you are in danger! Month to month on edge…no job security!! 😰
Well, you are put on a monthly review and closely monitored. Been there, done that. Very stressful period.
Omg, 100000 for one month goal?! That’s crazy. So true about the comparison with Amazon…. Still watching. Excellent video Michelle! 😘
Hi Maggie! It’s actually doubled since then I hear…😩
👍 retail stinks, I get this!
❤️
“Buy that city guide” 😂
Yes we want the tea 🍵
Hieee
I wrked in retail but never luxury retail
I pay cash or debit never credit cards for. My purchases
Potentially reconsider after looking at a concept called credit card churning
@@DaNewWaveLee what does that mean? I have not ever heard of this ?
I blame the rudeness of people who think that it's ok to treat people nasty because you have money ! Guess what we all bleed and breath the same air!! Put yourself in the sale person position ! How would like to be treated that way !!! Karma is real ! God help them rude arrogant non caring individuals
❤️❤️❤️
I used to work at macys this is accurate
People suck. I work in healthcare. Rude, demanding, obnoxious. I love my CA. I feel terrible if I return something for crap quality. Now I feel like I should boycott this company.
Aw thanks! You should absolutely return something that does not satisfy you. I hear more and more from healthcare workers…bottom line, we are only numbers to corporate 😢
$100000 one month goal?? You are lucky… i am currently a CA, my this month goal is $410000😢
😭 I want to give you a big hug ❤️
I’ve said for years (in my LV groups) your bag ain’t Jesus it will never be perfect 😂😂
😂😂🤣🤣🤣parting the Red Sea….that’s Moses, but you get it…

Loved it but I think the real meaning went over most heads
We don’t talk about Bruno…
@@dialmstyle 🤣🤣🤣
I saw first hand a LV customer returning a used bag while I was in a busy LV store. I have returned a few new unused items & it went very smoothly. I did notice the LV employees seemed more tense in the busier LV store as opposed to LV employees in the LV boutiques in the department stores.
I feel validated… sigh…thanks for watching 💕
Oh my god it sounds like a nightmare to work there 😳
It was!! Thanks for watching!
She says “people”……why not just say “women” and be specific? I’m 1000% sure this is 99.9% of the ones doing this horrible behavior.

Wow! you deserve a prize for being honest and sharing your experience. A lot employees are afraid to share due to retaliation, but people should know that working in luxury brands is not a fairy tale at all. Sometimes is more like a nightmare well dressed.
Nightmare well dressed is correct!
LOVE IT WHEN U SAY,,,,,LV makes you a " HUMAN WALKING BILLBOARD " as a customer,,, and saying " I'M JUST HERE SELLING THE DREAMS as a SALES ASSOCIATTE" very TRUE INDEED!!!
Ion like ppls wit unrealistic expectations n the entitled ones
Ooohhh too many of those 🤦🏻♀️

LV is now synonymous with trashy for me. The quality is just no. Hermes is still high end for real. Chanel is getting to be a bit like LV. I do not have an urge anymore to wear LV on me.
I just did a video about the disappointing quality of my somewhat new Chanel! Oh boy…they are cheating us!
Im sorry but i laughed waaaaay too hard. I also work in services but dang your job in the US sounds like hell. Maybe thats why they compared hell to it so much.
🤣 I can laugh now…
All of this for a darn hand bag !!
