    Thank God I'm 5'9" and 130 lbs. I just threw my legs over the headrest and climbed under the dash. Still a pain though.

    I just finished doing this to my 87 GT. The whole job sucked, but the clutch feels a lot better now.

    They make it look so easy. They don't mention of how much of a pain in the ass it is to squeeze into the car between the front seat when you're 6 feet tall and 240 pounds lol. Will be nice if they went a little more into detail on how to adjust the clutch cable properly. To some, this may be our first time doing this.

      Exact same size as you man and i had to take out driver seat only 4 bolts. Then not so bad.

      svt 96 this install is straight forward but you're right, its not easy getting under the steering wheel to route the cable if you are a bigger person. this is my first time doing this install and im not sure how to adjust the firewall adjuster they should have explained that

      Clutch adjustment is tricky abd differs from car to car. I installed a mm quadrant and a Ford adjustable cable on my 2000 GT, I had a lift so getting under the dash wasn't too difficult, but life I said adjusting the clutch. I've found that at any 2 to 3 inches my car will start to move, but when in the air the wheels begin to rotate at about. 5 to 1 inch I wish I knew if that's right. :/

      I hear you. Doing this right now to my 97. The bracket in the clutch cable is nowhere near where it mounts to the frame. No instructions even came with the kit.

    This thing is a pain in the ass I’ve had to adjust mine on both ends to the max to get it to finally engage the clutch and guess what, it slips like no other now.

  • @jamesa6272

    So I bought this kit for my 97 gt. My problem is I have to have the nut all the way on the end of the adjuster on the fork and have my firewall adjuster turned in to have it engage 3 inches off the floor. But my problem is there very little threads to put the jam nut on. Any reason for that? I’m thinking the adjuster on the fork isn’t long enough. In the video he has a lot of threads left for the nuts. I don’t

      Hey James, it would make sense that your adjuster isn't long enough. Were you able to find a solution to make it work?

    Very good instructions, but you left out the removal of large brackets in order to do the work.

    I've been looking for a replacement clutch cable for almost a year now! at 0:24 , the very top cable is mine! but I cant find it anywhere online. I have a 97 cobra and I've bought 2 cables that both only have one attachment point on them, and are at the wrong spot so they cant bolt up. This is causing the cable to deflect or something, making my clutch fork go lose with the cable, which has made my throw-out bearing go bad for the second time now.
    If anyone could help me locate a clutch cable with 2 connectors it would be VERY much appreciated, thank you

    • @sparky81181

      All of these kits will pretty much fit the new edge body style, but you have to look specifically when buying. I purchased a maximum motorsports quadrant with a Ford adjustable cable, and it fit like a glove, took about 45 minutes on the install with a lift. I did have to use a cable spacer, so if you want to avoid that you can get a quadrant like the bbk with multiple hooks. My 2000 gt shifts much better now.

    No point in having a firewall adjuster mustangs come equipped with a self adjusting table all you have to do is pull up on the clutch pedal every 3000 miles and it readjusts! But fuck i lost my retaining clip fir the cable, cant find one no where!!!

    • @edgargrado8626
      @edgargrado8626 7 лет назад +1

      You lose the self adjustment when you replace the quadrant with a metal one.

    • @Djuane
      @Djuane 7 лет назад +1

      moneyhungryyt if the stock quadrant is replaced with a aluminum one you can no longer adjust it that way. thats why the firewall is necessary

  • @derekburnett2728
    @derekburnett2728 3 месяца назад

    Okay, on my 1989 GT you can’t use the firewall adjuster, because there is no way to secure it to the firewall.

    • @luisforeal8676
      @luisforeal8676 Месяц назад +1

      You can drill and “tap” the holes in order to get the adjuster on the firewall.

    Brian, in your next lame video, install the same thing without a lift. Also, don't remove any other equipment under the dash like in this video.

      Have an 81 without factory quadrant, has a single pin ONLY. Aluminum swing arm won't clear bottom of dash, insulation is removed already

    Don't waste money on the Stress one. Its the exact one as the stock cable and does not come apart to go through the firewall adjuster. Pathetic!

    Good luck with these piece of shit cables. They suck. Adjustment is never accurate and it makes a noise when disengagement of the clutch. Haven’t even had this shit on my car for 5,000 miles.
