Great video. I've teased guys that use power soaks, but this amp proves the need. I'll shut up now about it, John.
What an amazing amp. Been playin Peaveys since '79 and am still finding out about amps I never knew existed. Anybody ever have a Triumph?

You forgot to mention that the amp IS footswitch-able between 2 channels. There is a duplicate Pentatone switch on the back, and with a simple A/B footswitch, you can toggle between two amp "Pentatones"! Great video and great amp!!

This is a great video explaining all the different settings! Been a big fan of Peavey for years. Glad there is still a lot of appreciation for some of their more obscure gear that maybe did not get as much love as it deserved but are true gems to those who know how to work their equipment.

How does the attenuator handle the 140w

It's not a rumor, this amp was 100% built in conjunction with George Lynch and was supposed to be his signature model. I was at a guitar clinic in the early 2000's with George and he talked about how he was working with Peavey on a "hot rod Marshall" type of amp, and it was going to be called the Brahma. Straight from GL's mouth. It didn't end up working out, probably a money thing, would be my guess. Best of my understanding is that Peavey pays their endorsees a percentage for every amp (or guitar, whatever) sold. And in typical Peavey fashion, they took all of the artist input and work etc. then produced the amp without them anyway.

i was told that amp (the George Lynch signature model) was going to be the Triple X, but didnt work out at the end

@ No, it was definitely the Penta. George talked about the switchable channels and that it was going to be named the Brahma, and the Penta ended up w/ the (Brahma) ‘bull’ setting. He was very clear about it. Lynch used an early Mesa Boogie rectifier for a short time as well. I can’t see any scenario where he’d want an inexpensive copy (not as good, lol) of the Rectifier he already had used and then was past it. GL even called it the ‘Rectum Frier”!! Lolol 🤘

You are both right. It was actually both the Triple XXX (circa 2001) and the Penta/Brahma (circa 2005). Both deals fell thru for reasons that only Peavey and GL know. I have a picture of the NAMM Peavey Triple XXX promo and has George on it. And I also remember the mentioning of a 2nd attempt to a Signature amp by Peavey in the now deceased George Lynch "Dojo" forum in the website of that era. That's why both amps have the "Trucker Girl" icon on them, just like on Lynch's early 90's black silkscreen EL34 Mesa Rectifier that he used frequently around the 90's and early 2000's

@ It was 100% about money. I have an insider on the EVH Peavey 5150 then Wolfgang deal! lol it’s always about the money!! (And EVH went to Peavey for more money $$ 😉)

I thought of taking two of the four tubes out and then do an intentional impedance mismatch on the back to make the impedance correct for the two tubes. But then i figured it will still be 70 watts and still crazy loud. Also convert the ground switch to a triode/pentode switch to scrub off some further power. I always think about when using these attenuators, you're killing the power tubes even though the volume is lowered acceptably. I wish there was a high voltage equivalent to the el34 like the 6v6 is to the 6L6. Those el84's can't take the same plate voltages as el34's can

Thd makes tube adapters one can put in 4 el84`s. Not cheap but you cant remove the iron. That's where the power comes from.
I tried em.in a 100 watt head once made it fizzy.
      Get an attenuator.

You could cut out 100 watts from this amp and it would have been fine

First of all, the presence needs to be turned off…..that’s why it sounds “thin”
