    He lived for a time in Whyalla , South Australia and got to face him. What a spinner, unplayable on concrete pitches. They turn, the fizz through the air. Brilliant.

    Karnataka legends like Bhagavath chandrashekar...batting maestro G.R.Viswanath...syed kirmani..legendary Syed kirmani...EAS Prasanna and all most all the South Indian players intentionally left out by the social media of BCCI...and only North Indian players are highlighted in the social media...I do not know Why.....!!!

      No Mr. Muthappa, we all love GR Viswanath, I have lost count how many times Syed Kirmani saved India with tailenders, even when Kapil made 175, Syed Kirmani had a long partneship with him, plus his wicket keeping, Chandrashekhar's magical performance, VVS Laxman is loved for his 281 against mighty Australians, Kumble was a match winner, Venkatesh Prasad humbled the arrogant Aamir Sohail in Bangalore 1996, Azharuddin's wristy batting and great captaincy, Rahul Dravid loved as the wall, list is endless. Maybe Gavaskar in 1970s, Kapil Dev in 1980s, Tendulkar in 1990s and 2000s, Dhoni and Virat Kohli in the last 10-15 years have been in the limelight more than the names I mentioned at the beginning. Gavaskar for his continuous run making - from 1976 to 1980 he had very little failure and was very consistent, Kapil Dev has been described as the greatest Indian cricketer, Tendulkar made 100 international hundreds and was the darling of Indian public, Dhoni won two world cups, and Virat is the new run machine. But that does not mean that they are not loved. My elder brother almost worshiped Gundappa Viswanath, he liked him more than Gavaskar. When Gavaskar failed, Viswanath always made runs and resurrected Indian innings. I think one South Indian enjoyed limelight and that is Azharuddin, when Ajit Wadekar was manager and Azhar the captain -- India won series after series at that time Azhar fully enjoyed media limelight. VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid have also got ample coverage but Srinath, Venkatesh, Binny, Kirmani, Prasanna, Venkat Raghvan etc. did not get enough coverage.

      I don’t this it’s valid...it’s today after India defeated Australia people praised Rahul Dravid and called him Dronacharya for bringing such a nice talent. Kolkata Test is remembered by VVSLaxman, Courage and Anil Kumble comes with fractured jaw playing all from South to name a few...respected and always remembered why such a thought comes in mind

    There are many comments supporting the great quality of Gupte's bowling, which is a good thing to see for a largely forgotten figure, but his actual results do not bear out greatness. He averaged 33 v Aus, 38 v Eng, and 35 v WI. Using the graphs supplied by historical ICC Test rankings alone, I would rate leg spin bowlers in the following order: O'Reilly, Grimmett, Warne, Kumble, Benaud, Yasir Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed, Gupte, Chandrasekhar, Kaneria, MacGill, Qadir. There is video footage available on YT of his action.

    Subhash Gupte - most probably the finest leg spinner ever! It seems quite likely from what several other legends who have seen him play says about him (and his average, records and five wicket hauls) that he was better than Tiger O'Reilly, Clarence 'Clarrie' Grimmet, Qadir, Kumble and might be even Warne (btw Warne is my fav leggie). His five wicket haul stat is highly impressive, especially with the pathetic fielding support he got. Every Indian cricket enthusiast should remember this great.

    2:32 - 2:48 Wouldn't this be counted as a weakness? EAS talks about it as if it were a finer point that Fergie had inculcated in his bowling, but what it actually means is that even a tailender like EAS could pick up Fergie's different deliveries, as they were not all bowled with an identical action.

    While talking Prasanna kajoles or coaxes the ball as it is red beauty..... This is "body language" dear new generation players.... When you coax someone delicately he, she, it do the thing what you want he, she, it to do!
    Prasanna himself is GREAT and so much MODEST. 4 to 5 years of his initial cricket career is stopped playing as he was studying engineering. If he has played those 5 years he himself would have scalped 800 wickets....

    • @vinaytripathi157
      @vinaytripathi157 3 года назад +1

      Warne averages over 45 in test and over 50 in ODIs against India, the best batting side against spinners at least...

    • @vinaytripathi157
      @vinaytripathi157 3 года назад

      @Manas Dhawan Test match statistics of Warne
      Against India he bowled 654.1 overs
      Wickets 43
      Averaged 47.19
      Strike rate 91.28
      Against pak
      Bowled 675.1 overs
      Wickets 90
      Averaged 20.18
      Strike rate 45.01
      Now, your point that he was great against other subcontinent teams is correct(That is why I have shared his performance against Pakistan, which happens to be the best), but at the end it again establishes how bad he was against the Indian side back then.
      Warne was a champion cricketer and regarded highly across the cricketing fraternity, but in this mumbo jumbo if statistics at times you miss out on finer details.
      Very simply put, Warne never was the bowler to India, what he was to the rest of the cricketing nations.
      Average of more than 45,after playing 14 test matches, says it all

    • @vinaytripathi157
      @vinaytripathi157 3 года назад

      @Manas Dhawan That one opponent as a team was the greatest side in test cricket against spin bowling. (Atleast in that era) .
      Shane Warne was a spinner.
      That is why performance against this team matters.
      You are suggesting to overlook his performance against a team as a whole but pushing for stats against individual players... (Sporadic statistics in space and time...)

    • @vinaytripathi157
      @vinaytripathi157 3 года назад

      @Manas Dhawan Manas
      Let's be curteous (at least for the sake of Warne, Gupte and our love for cricket).
      I am not saying he bowled badly against India, but with all that skill set (with which he was so damaging to other countries as a bowler) , he was never really threatening to Indians, as they had a measure of him all along.
      He bowled with lot if skill and intent, but was answered back much better than he anticipated...
      Indians respected and were aware of Warne, the bowler, but always came on top against him because that team played him better than any other side during that time...
      Statistics do make sense when sample size is significant, 14 test matches against a team is significant...
      Says it all, is more about how well he was nullified in India rather than about how good or bad he was...

    • @vinaytripathi157
      @vinaytripathi157 3 года назад

      @Manas Dhawan
      "Anyway you didn't answer my question" Looks good in manufactured tv debates, sports Interface isn't for all that.
      For a bowler against, it's the impact which he creates, by taking the wickets and intimidating tha opposition.
      Warne did all this pretty well against all the other sides except India.
      How much a spinner spins or how quick a fast bowler is good at times for thrills and entertainment.
      By that Argument, Shoaib Akhtar, Shane Bond and Brett lee sould be rated much higher than GreatvWasim Akram... but that's not the case...
      Warne, first ball in Ashes to clean bowled Gatting , round his legs is a delight... But equally delightful is how Siddhu and then Tendulkar, stepped out of crease to hit him for sixes...
      And yes, I too liked when spun the bowl...
