Japanese bands love their Math rock. I think the reason is the genre itself emerged from both Japan and The United States in the late 80s. Love the mix of post rock and progressive rock
This is a great song and an incredible performance. Never heard this before. I don't know why, but the closest thing my brain could arrive at when trying to pin down the sound was Sigur Rós covering Portishead.
You nailed ith with the Mid-West vibe. This song is the easiest entry into Toe but not even close to their best work. They are so fun and creative! Covet is one of the best math rock bands right now and their song-writer/guitarist started playing guitar because of Toe :P
