The only thing interesting about this “scandal” is the fact that there IS such thing as ethnic bone structure, like you can determine someone’s race based on their skull, etc.
Who said there isn’t any phenotypical difference between people? This isn’t exactly new information. Eugenicists from the Jim Crow era used skull shapes to “prove “ black people were inferior. The Human Genome project is much more precise in determining ethnic ancestry. Humans are really diverse, as different populations adapted to different regions, as they migrated from Africa. All the distinctive features we categorize and label as race is just an arbitrary social construct.

Oli seeks out plastic surgeons they can work with that will accept their requests and take their money. I’m sure many of the surgeons they’ve spoken to have said “you will never look like Jimin” or something to that effect, but then Oli will just move onto the next one. There are always more corrupt people in any industry who put money over morals and over doing what’s right for the client/patient. Oli is going to just go for ego-stroking yes-men who laugh all the way to the bank after they keep giving basic surgeries and messing up Oli’s features more and more. Oli knows they need to go to a therapist, probably, but doing this internet thing is more interesting. I mean, they’ve got all us talking about it.
This was a great video with spot on points regarding patient education to understand and temper unrealistic expectations. Oli was on “Botched” and the doctors told him NOT to touch his nose again. Body dysmorphic disorder is so sad. He’s addicted and he won’t/can’t stop. The overfilled lips seems so common with people with BDD. He’s already in the “uncanny valley”

I mean this kindly, but he looks like the '25' year olds on Love Island with hard faces because of surgeries and over tanning. 78 year old teenagers is what I like to call them!
honestly, if another ps doctor touches his face again i don’t think that doctor should be respected. it’s not kind to oli, i think his doctors should say no at this point. i feel for him, and i hope he’ll be happy in his own skin one day.
If a doctor can fix his botch job nose then I disagree, that is the main thing making him look strange and botched. A doctor that can fix his nose and dissolve that filler to make Oli look normal would deserve respect IMO.
@@mirsolis4992 After a certain point, no doctor can fix the nose, because even attempting anything there would be too dangerous as it's already lost so much cartilage. I think Oli is at that point, and I don't think any respectable doctor would risk it.
Literally. The doctors on Botched REFUSED to do anything surgical to Oli (I think they were asking for a rhinoplasty specifically that time around) because the doctors were like "look, if we do what you want us to do, you run the risk of nasal collapse. We're not going to knowingly fuck you up like that. We highly recommend you don't do anything else surgical unless it's to repair the damage that's been done, not to look 'more Korean'." And then Oli went and got more surgeries from shady doctors who don't care about ethics despite being warned.
Also why is he counturing his cheeks so much? It doesnt help, it just makes it more obvious that he has a sharper and longer face than Jimin's rounder and softer structure.
I'm sure there were some doctors that told him he could never look lik Jimin and he just didnt listen lol, I mean, the whole internet is been telling him that since forever

Jimin is seemingly uncomfortable knowing what oli is doing. I read somewhere that before any bts interviews their managements make sure to steer clear any questions/topic about oli london
You typically find aegyo sal on children or people who are younger so basically having this feature signifies youth, being young, cuteness, etc. Thank you for posting this because I was trying to remember the name of it and now I learned that it means "cute meat" which is a little odd to look at as a phrase
@@taquito.trasgo Lmao it doesn’t translate well. Sal means flesh, but can be used in the same way you call waist fat “love handles” or cheek fat “cheek chub”.
You explaining what fillers do to the upper lip and making mouth open at resting state makes me consider what i’ve been thinking for a while- that there’s also a possibility that the members jm or nj or even sj also do lip fillers but not as extreme as oli london….there are times I notice before major album drops/promotions that their upper lips are less plump and then suddenly are really plump when promoting. I’ve thought about it a lot. Not in a bad way, cos obviously if you do a procedure like this there’s a correct way of doing it where it looks more ‘natural’ and not forced. Food for thought 🤔
I've been seeing alot of people these days arguing that race is a social construct and that there is no such thing as different bones or facial structures between ethnicities. I always thought that was bullocks, I mean any basic amount of research shows that different ethnicities and races have different features, but this channel really helps prove that
Oil just wants plastic surgery. He’s relating his WHY (to plastic surgery) to a famous star just for more attention. If he really wanted to “look like Jimin” then he wouldn’t get his nose done like that.
I agree. He looks further and further away from Jimin. I mean Hollywood has been doing “yellow face” makeup for a long time and even they can tell him he did the opposite to his eyes as what the sfx makeup artists would do. An example of this would be Shirley Mclaine in My Geisha. Or even what they did in Cloud Atlas.
Exactly. I'm just surprised he was able to get so much for free. I knew that influencers could get free surgery but I didn't realise they could get it to that extent!
Absolutely. I’m mixed myself. Guatemalan, German being the two main parts of me. I have very upwards tilted eyes from my indigenous ancestry and that’s what at least irl makes people able to see I’m not a white Personal despite being blonde and light skinned. Eyes are a good indicator of ethnicity. What Oli did just emphasizes Caucasian to me. There no way he’ll ever look Korean. Even mixed people often lean one way or the other. It’s bone structure. He has upper eyelid surgery and it just made his eyes more deep set and round. Many Caucasians, specially men have hooded eyelids and he got rid of that wich defeats his proclaimed purpose.
As much as the internet clowns him for fetishizing kpop stars to the point of getting surgery to be what he is now I kinda feel bad for him. He definitely knows he will never look Korean but the irreversible damage he's done to his face and the fact he's a laughing stock on the internet has to have a huge toll on his mind. More importantly who pays for his surgeries???
Sharliza Moè has a few interesting videos on Oli and other people who try to "look asian" (for lack of a better way of saying it) and in one video she breaks down East Asian bone structure vs Caucasian and also her personal feelings on it as an East Asian person.

@@highestqualitypigiron very true that everyone wants to be something theyre not. I’d like to say tho, that some asians do have curly/wavy hair and its more common than you’d think, its just not seen as often due to straight perms and straightening. I am 100% asian and have wavy hair, for example
This video format is messy. It's super confusing when you talk over the footage while it's still running and the people in it are talking. Your voice is so low compared to theirs that it's incomprehensible, but it's loud enough to mess up comprehension of the footage dialogue. This sort of video critique of another video is best done with some editing, not as a spontaneous one shot (unless you always pause the footage to talk). If we could see your face we'd be able to register when you're reacting/talking, but even overlaying one of those wiggly soundwave designs to match your speech could be enough to at least differentiate where that muttering background voice is coming from.
I’ve just had a surgery that was necessary and the recovery is agony. I honestly don’t get why anyone would put themselves through a surgery unless it’s a necessity. Every time you go under a general anaesthetic there’s a small risk of never waking up again. I’m so happy my parents raised me to be confident with what I was given. I can’t imagine hating myself so much that I want to be somebody else.
He looks more like a feminine Cillian Murphy than Korean. And the doctor is lying but he needed another gold chain. I’m not Korean but I am BIPOC and I’m offended.
It’s also funny in a way that Jimin doesn’t even look like Jimin since he’s had a lot of surgery too. So this dude isn’t even trying to look like the average Korean, he’s going for the idealized Korean look that barely exists and causes young teens to get surgery and use skin bleach before they’ve even developed :/
I think jimin did not have too many surgeries 😅😅 maybe 1 or 2 but not a lot they just put on a lot of lighter makeup base and pre debut they were all tanned
Really interesting video! just fyi, when you occasionally talk over the video without pausing, those parts are really hard to hear. When you pause it works best imo
He admits it himself. He does NOT say "I want to be Korean". He says "I want to be him (Jimin)". It is NOT about becoming Korean - it's about becoming Jimin. If that man, Jimin, were Chinese, Oli would try to become Chinese.

Yeah I'd love to see any bts member in "analyzing celebrity faces" I guess as a fan I think they all are v attractive, but it is interesting how... Varied the people's opinions about their look? Like, jin is considered the most "scientifically" attractive, but v is the visual?
Here's how eye bags are different than aegyo sal. Eye bags are mostly caused by weakening structural muscles that cause fat to pool in that area instead of being evenly distributed, but can also be caused by fluid retention (such as if you've eaten a lot of salt), lack of sleep, irritation from allergies, etc. They appear below the crease where you can see where the eyeball stops and the socket begins, falling as low as sinus cavities. However, aegyo sal appear in a different place-- they appear above that crease, just below the lower lash line, and they're caused (when naturally present) by a highly developed Orbicularis muscle, which are more toned and developed during youth, leading to the association with aegyo sal and youth/innocence. They also are now achieved with fat transfers and injections of facial fillers, however, in order to replicate that look in adulthood. For most people, they appear when one smiles, but when fat or fillers are injected, it gives their eyes a sort of "permanent smile" look to them. I hope this helps!!
I'm an artist who regularly draws BTS so I study their facial structures closely all the time. And everything you mentioned in this video about skull structures is so true. How high Oli's eyebrow ridges go, how deeply their eyes are set, the length of their face are all fundamental differences they have from Jimin's face and the reason they'll never look like him 😭
He can't because he's not a south Korean citizen. I'm sure the north would love to take him in though! They're always in need of stupid brainwashed people
@UCntIYyW-nBT3lPPSt-t_dcw he wouldn't be able to join anyways, he's past the mandated age. He's in his 30s/40s, the oldest age for that is 25/26 (not counting idol exceptions but those don't apply to him, obviously) he thinks he's an idol, which probably means he thinks he's exempt. But there's always the possibility of him not knowing about the mandate at all considering he knows nothing about the country

All of your characters can just end up with the same face if you aren't paying attention. Thanks for putting it in a way that was easy to understand!
The only thing interesting about this “scandal” is the fact that there IS such thing as ethnic bone structure, like you can determine someone’s race based on their skull, etc.
Actually!!
exactly! ablino africans have white skin but its easy to tell they’re african because of their bone structure
Bro, you can even tell someone’s East Asian/Southeast Asian from their hair 💀
It's a pretty reliable go-to if for whatever reason you need to distinguish between similar ethnicities, especially the face

That makes me sad that someone would injure themselves so much to look like someone else. He was a good looking guy.

21:07: They are called eye bags. It was once very trendy to have eye bags in China and Korea xx
aegyo sal
It still is
Its called agyeo sal not eye bags and alot of est asians have this
Here's how eye bags are different than aegyo sal.
21:05 , I think that depression is called - "Aegyo Sal", it is believed to be a youthful feature

I'm an artist who regularly draws BTS so I study their facial structures closely all the time. And everything you mentioned in this video about skull structures is so true.
