1:07 saved my life and battery, i have a Cerato and due to a light accident the indicator on the dashboard was always on and draining my battery (knowing that the trunk works normally) so i simply disconnected the cables for now until the end of the lockdown so i take it for fixing, thanks a lot man...stay safe
Hi, it is stress crack induced by the spring. I’ll screw a screw into the little hole to hold that end of the spring, otherwise the plastic part will soon break again.
Thank you Eric. Had the same problem. Superglue didn't hold very long even after a thorough cleaning with contact cleaner and alcohol using a Q-Tip. Resorted to epoxy. It's drying now. They must engineer it to break in case of emergency. it is a trunk that does not need to be slammed, but the best I can figure, someone did.
This video was pretty helpful as my mostly manual Kia Rio 2016 had the same latch issue but because of that, I actually couldn’t release the truck from the metal latch keeping the trunk closed. Had to unscrew that and break the black plastic piece of of the trunk latch to free it and finally release the trunk. Now off to target for super glue! This will be the quick fix for now.
I have this issue and my 4 door Kia Rio 2013 doesn't even have the front seat lever to open the trunk/boot, so bizarre, even my manual says it should be there!
Thank you so much 💓. I had the same problem. Kia forte 2017. I have used your way to fix it.before glowing remember to clean the place well with alcohol. I have used an epoxy glow. Kia shame on you for this junk plastic
Mike Cabatino honestly not sure since the whole price comes together. It was actually covered by the dealership but I couldn’t find the actual plastic part by itself.
Ivan 23 Caravantes yeah I super glued it too held up for like two seconds the dealership was able to replace it for free for me. I’m glad because it was like a $70 part
@@muniz1982 yeah that part is $96 here I had to buy it, then it worked like new. Just gonna jb weld the other one and hope I can use it some more because it just needs to be glued to work. Jb weld is supposed to be way stronger than all other glues
AbbsJr you might be able to fix it but it turned out for me I had to get it replaced after all. The super glue didn’t hold. Maybe if you can find the piece at a junk yard but will be really hard since the car isn’t old in case your car isn’t under warranty
Cindy Gibbs unfortunately you have to get in through the back seat. I used a flat head to open the lock from where it was engaged to the metal hook that the latch was latched to.

Thank you very much I fixed mine on my 2017 Kia Forte
Great info. You’re a lifesaver

This same thing happened to mines,I use krazy glue along with epoxy 4 steel it worked
The dealership changed it out for free it was considered under warranty.
Thanks a lot man easy and simple. I had the same issue.
You're welcome!
Had same problem, try super glue it but failed. So i buy new one..
So how did you get the trunk open in order to work on it?
Pulled down the back seats and pulled the trunk release on the inside

What do you call that replaced piece? Im planning to buy one.

It was that part for me I tried but super glue didn't help me. I guess I have to buy new part

@@muniz1982 luckily that part fits a lot of kias & Hyundai vehicle's even the stinger has one.
@@muniz1982 thanks again for your video, it does really help a lot. Even if people don't mention it to you.
Since yesterday my 2017 kia rio sedan boot refuses to close😭😭
Great video I need someone to fix mine loll
My rio open with remot ... but not open by bottom ?? Can you help me ?
alaa ahmed sounds like you might need to check at the latch or something might be wrong with the lever at the bottom of the seat.
Great video thanks alot I have the stupid problem

@@muniz1982 hmm, did you try the resin glue? Where you mix two different sticks together?
AbbsJr I did not I just used the regular super glue in the tubes
But how do you open the trunk to get to the latch?
Cindy Gibbs unfortunately you have to get in through the back seat. I used a flat head to open the lock from where it was engaged to the metal hook that the latch was latched to.
$25 on Amazon
This is amazing. It's an indictment on Kia. F-----g plastic!
