    Phil McKnight has said MANY times that there’s nothing wrong with using dime sized pots. You could have larger pots that are plenty crappy too. It’s not the size that matters- it’s the quality. Now I would definitely prefer larger CTS pots . . . but plenty of high end guitars use dimes and there’s really nothing wrong with that if they’re built to last.

    • @garyt123
      @garyt123 Год назад +1

      Fully agree. Now if someone said "I don't like the feel" of dime sized pots, fair enough - as they do generally present less resistance to adjustment than larger sized pots, but quality is down to design, materiales and QA control. Size can't possibly be an issue there.

    There are a couple of inaccuracies in this review. The Cort G300 Pro also has a quarter inch maple top, it's not a veneer. The G300 Pro also has the exact same Duncan pickups, the JB and the Jazz. The main differences between the glam and the pro is the material. The Pro has a solid basswood body with maple neck and fretboard, the Glam has a chambered mahogany body with a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard. These are the differences between these models

    Cort have always made the best value guitars and basses. My main player is an old 90s cort artisan 5 string that would easily give a warwick corvette a run for its money, the wood is top tier, wenge neck and ash body. It's electronics and tuners where corners were cut, but with a full emg set-up and hipshot tuners, it easily keeps up with basses costing 5 times as much. I can only imagine the guitars are just as good in this regard, and the spec today would be way better then in 1991.

    I have the G300 Pro (similar spec except for the wood, also a 6mm maple top and same pickups for massive tone). What a guitar. Punches well above its price tag. It competes with guitars in the £1,500/1,700 price range. One point about the pots... they work fine, no need to fiddle but they are an inexpensive change. In any case, you'll struggle to fit others into that small cavity with all the wiring. Two drawbacks: coil splits in positions 2 and 4 are NOT hum-cancelling and I wish the frets were jumbo. 95% perfect, though! I'd buy it again.

I believe they are Guitar Fetish GFS Gold Foil Humbuckers...and sound fine) that looks like it had never been used! Unbelievably clean condition and these are my choice on L.P. I’ve heard some comments about the QC of Cort guitars. I realize that pretty much every guitar that comes out of Indonesia is built by Cort, but I’ve been told that it really comes down to QC checks and what flaws are allowed vs rejected that contributes greatly to end cost of the instrument. It is my understanding from talking to a local tech that the Cort branded guitars tend to allow more construction flaws than a brand like Ibanez, for example, which has a stricter QC standard. Any thoughts on that? Is there any truth to that?
    That said, I’m going to find it difficult to resist the G300 Raw…

    Cort has made a lot of guitars but I think they just never had big names to endorse the products. I personally hate that the volume knob has been so close to the bridge pickup on strats...so I avoid them but like their sound/tone.

    The g300 is a workhorse standard that is hard to beat…
    I’ve enjoyed the privilege for the last 8 months… give this axe 40 years and more tone flow than squire /fender /Gibson . Then PRS and cort will be there above museum pieces..

    Any chance to review Epiphone Les Paul Classic - T with Min-Etune where the guitar can tune all 6 strings automatically by itself. Amazing. Cheers from Indonesia.

    I'm sure that there are problems in many Asian factories, regarding employee safety, maintaining healthy, respectful working environments, but Cor-Tek Corporation's (Cort) reputation is so, so, bad (even in Asia) that I would _never_ even consider purchasing one of their products. I also try as best I can to find out if an instrument, from other brands, were manufactured at Cor-Tek, and avoid those were possible too.

    Not sure if you mentioned it, but is the neck a roasted wood?

    • @andrewbecker3700
      @andrewbecker3700 Год назад +1

      Just mahogany, and that's why it needs graphite rods for support. Being a bolt on with no heel plate at the screws is a piss poor design.

      @@andrewbecker3700 You do realize that this type of neck joint is being used for 40 years? And that there are ferrules there, screw isn't just pushed into the wood. Nothing wrong with this design and certainly a million times better than a ginormous block of wood with steel plate added on top of it, like Fender does to this day. Now that is a piss poor design!
