I've been getting some comments from you guys on my previous video on How to transfer the Google Authenticator account from one phone to another, asking me "what should you do if you lost your phone?", or "what should you do if your phone is broken?" or whatever reason that had you lose your 2 FA keys and "how you can recover your Google authenticator account?" Well, there is a way to restore it and I'm going to show exactly how to do that, in all the different ways available so make sure to stick around till the end of this video, to find out how to recover your Google authenticator key.

You can’t recover all your accounts with the method shown in the video. This only works for your Google account. For the rest of them you need to contact each website/service individually and have them reset your 2FA code
Does this process also restore all of the codes you had for all other websites? Or must I still go to each website to add them back in?
No, it doesn't. You need to do this with each individual website OR if you still have your old device, you can transfer them from one phone to another

I have set up 2 step verification, using Google Authenticator. Although it was setup successfully, but I think somewhere goes wrong.
After setting up, I made a few tests to see whether it works fine. When I tried to login or make any sensitive changes, the verification page still asks for my phone authentication through sms or voice message, but not using GA (like what is shown in your video, you were also verified through your phone but not GA).
My verification page did not show GA option at all. Did I somewhere go wrong? OR Google ply use GA at certain scenarios only?
I believe they ask for the 2FA code from the GA app in certain scenarios only. Most of the time when you login from a device that is not recognized by them

If you have setup some recovery ways like alternative email or phone number, you can use those to regain access to your account

@@JTROCKS003 the code you get on your phone number is different than the one from Authenticator. You need to select other ways to authenticate, get an access code on your phone number and use it in there

The short answer is yes. BUT, if you were logged in, on some approved devices, you might still be able to login in to those accounts without having to insert the 2FA code, so you can deactivate the 2FA from the account settings and then set it up on your new device

does google get rid of an authenticator for any reason. Coz I'm definitely IN the email my authenticator was connected to. I know Coz I wrote down notes when I wrote down the backup codes as well as I can login to my switch store account with the same email and used a backup code to get in. And in the email settings it doesnt show that there is any authenticator attached?
Pfff.. so.. Google does not get rid of an Authenticator. I believe you are a bit confused on how this 2FA works. The 2FA from each individual website is separate from the Google 2FA. So if you activate 2FA on some website, it won’t show up on your Google account.
@@PaulTechLink I think I just set it up within my phone on the app. I was just setting it up for my Nintendo switch account after I had gotten it back from being stolen. I did no go to some weird website. And I think you give Google too much credit lol. There is such things as glitches and mistakes within a software and to ride it off as Google couldn't have done it is a bit naive lol. Maybe it wasn't Google. But I definitely also didn't go to some weird site to hook it up. I don't write down notes with the exact email I set up up with for no reason. And I don't think Nintendo makes you set it up within some weird sketchy website lol
@@CallMeGameGirl alright, so… I think I have a better understanding of your problem now, so I’ll try to explain it as best as I can. So, I still believe you are a bit confused on how the 2FA works. When you activated the 2FA on your Nintendo account, you received a secret key, or QR code which you inserted in the Google Authenticator app. Now, that code is linked to your Nintendo account. even if you used Google to sign in, Nintendo created an account on their website with your Google credentials. So the secret key is stills linked to your Nintendo account. Hope it makes sense till now! Moving on, the Google Authenticator app has only one purpose and that is to generate 2FA codes based on your secret key, just like any other 2FA app(windows Authenticator, authy etc.). So the reason why you don’t see this Authenticator option activated in the security settings of your Google account, like it shows in the video, is because you don’t have the 2FA activated for your Google account. Once you do activate it, you’re going to receive a new secret key, which you need to insert in the Google Authenticator app, in order to generate 2FA codes. And then you will see this option in the security settings as well. Hope this answers your question!

I had few app and website login using Google authenticator app. Following this video I can reattch Google authenticator account with Gmail but for other website and app i still need QR code or secret key of the App or websites to ger the verification code. Do you know a way to restore Google authenticator with all the app and website data so the it can generate verification code?
I have solved it with the help of another video.
You have to rename the security plugin at wordpress backend through cpanel or ftp and 2fa verification at login will be gone.
so after reading your last comment, I'm guessing you had issues with your WordPress login. The thing is you can't recover all your accounts in bulk, so you have to restore each one of them, one by one
Please I need urgent help, I no longer have my former authenticator app which I used to activate 2FA for my IPC CAPITAL ACCOUNT and it was not connected to my google account and neither do I have the backup codes. there's not really much you can do, unless you find some way to contact them
My iPhone was destroyed. I got a new one and tried to log into my Nintendo account. It’s asking for the GA info but o don’t have access to it or the security keys. I’ve put so much money into that account and now I can’t log in on any device. I added GA to my new phone but it’s not accepting the codes 😭

I’m guessing you created that account on the Nintendo.com website so what you could try is, go to their website and select the “forgot your password “ option. This should take you through a few steps which will recover your account

You need to try other ways to verify your account and at some point they will ask you to submit some king of ID to prove your identity

when I go onto the security page on my chrome book, then press " 2 step verification" the "add another phone" as seen on your video , that option is not is there. Only "set up google authenticator" which just set up google authenticator for getting into my chrome book which I didnt want.

if you had your phone number set as a recovery way and you managed to recover it, you should be getting those text msg with the 2FA codes onto your new device as well. If you don't have any other ways to verify your identity, there's not really much you can do

this 2FA code will only work for your Google account. For your Binance account, you need to use the one provided by them
Hey Brother, I just changed phones and my google authenticator was on my old phone. When I tried to login into my email, asks for the code but I dont have my old phone. I just create a new email to try recover the old one. Can you help? I can not pass the email and password. I went to Samsung where I trade my old phone and the person who I bought the new phone from, told there is nothing they can do. Any help is much appreciated? Thanks
The only solution would be if you had an alternative email or phone number set as a recovery way, in order to get the 2FA codes in there.
My pervious phone got stolen and it had all of the authenticator stuff on it and on top of that I haven't linked it to any source what do I do

Normally when you receive that message, you should get a notification within the gmail app on your mobile device. Do you have gmail app installed?

Nothing came up on my gmail account I just got a new phone and had to format it because I needed to trade it in. I backed up all the apps but no logins or anything worked so I lost everything I'm pretty sure I can't recovery my authenticator codes. I have no back up codes saved anywhere either.
what you need to do in this case is, contact each website/app support team and ask them to reset your 2FA

Yes, this method only works for the Google account. The only way to recover the other accounts is if you have saved individual backup keys for those.

the 2FA on your facebook account is not linked to your google account. You need to use the option that says "Need another way to authenticate?" and follow the steps shown on the screen

@@trishul5635 this doesn’t seem like an Authenticator problem. You would normally get an error like invalid code or wrong code. This seems more like some issue with their website. Try to contact their support team, they might know what’s going on

Hello, I accidently uninstall the google authenticator. I install it again in the same phone, and do all the step. I just changed new google authenticator on security setting on my google account (same account). Now, all set. But I got problem with codes. I checked date and time setting on my phone, and synced local time in google authenticator setting but still got incorrect codes. Please help. Thanks.

they don't show the recovery ways in a particular order. So if you don't see the option you need, give it some time and try again later.. let me know if it works

and when I click "Try another way to sign in" it says "Google couldn’t verify this account belongs to you."

I understand perfectly what your problem is, as many of my viewers had the same issue. But the thing is, unless you have an alternative recovery way set that you can access(like email or phone number), its pretty much impossible to recover your account. If you do have them, you should try the same process again and again till they give you the option to verify with your email or phone number. Other than this, don't know what to say.. at this point there is no specific way to contact them... If you are an youtube creator there is a way to chat with someone but don't know if they deal with account recovery.

Same thing happen to me but lucky me I got the 2FA bypassed by this genius #Leachtech. Why not send him a request if he can be of help.

I just checked now, and it seems like the interface has been updated so after you click on "2 step verification", you need to click again on "authenticator app" and only then you should see the "change phone" option. let me know if it works
