Same here... I had no idea and just ordered this week for my x-lite, I couldn’t work out why some sites said 250mw whilst others said 1w... he also covered that. I will be all set when it arrives
@@henryvolpe2263 with the QX7 it doesn’t come with the correct Baud rate of 400k. So every CRsF system comes with this little ass chip you solder on inside the radio. There is also a way to just correct this issue in your radios. But it isn’t actually running the correct baud with the software fix.
Guys, Mr Bardwell suggested to me another video showing how to simply do all this on the SD card plugged into a PC as this was proving difficult on my Taranis X9D. (Titled: three ways to flash open tx) Doing it all on the SD card while plugged into PC is so much easier and faster to transfer. I got it all working again without bricking my radio. One thing I noticed, once I had my radio updated to 2.3 I did a back up of my SD files then deleted them and installed the new updated files as shown in the other vid. ei Josh, just an incredible thank you for all the hard work and all the content that you make for us. I would never be the pilot I am today without your knowledge, thank you.
Your a GENUIS Josh! I spent over 2 days working this out. When ALL over Google images of the NANO showed the RX and TX the other way around. Your the man!
I use XM+, RXSR, and R9 on my quads. I switched to Tracer and I'm very satisfied with the performance. I'm pretty confident that I'm sticking with Tracer for a while. I did the update for ludicrous power mode, I can tell that the range is better. Can't wait to do some range testing on ludicrous power mode. I've never used Crossfire but plan to do a LR build with Crossfire. I do use their mini VTX's and antennas in my quads. Really like what TBS puts out.
Did I miss Smart Audio? When I used it, binding through TBS Agent-X give me reassuring information about what was going on and displayed informative progress bars.:)
CRSF Nano Diversity does not have diversity antennas it has diversity receive. Literally two radio receivers on the same PCB which has greater receive performance than just two antennas.
Crossfire Nano RX - careful not to break off the 0402 10uf capacitor next to the LEDs, too many people have accidentally broken that off when removing heatshrink to put it on another craft etc.. Part of the reason I designed Thingiverse 4731250 a reusable folding holder for the Nano, in plain, 20x20 mount, 30x30 mount and versions with holes for zip ties. I'm working on a version for the Ghost Atto receiver next.
People may not realize that the RX binds to the TX. So if your TX is EXTernal you can move the TX to another controller and your RX will still be bound to it. I can put my Crossfire TX in a TX16S and then move the TX to my Horus X10s and my Drone will still work just as well there. I have done it. I copied my models so they are on both controllers. Also, I find it much easier to bind and update firmware (TX and RX) with TX connected by itself via USB to the computer. Why use a 'Lite' version when you can get the full blown version on the computer. The computer also performs the job faster. Note: If you use your controllers INTernal RF then you can't do the swap. Which is why I always use EXT RF modules.
If, for some reason, you changed your region randomly, like me, and want to reset, you gotta press module button rapidly 12 times. Im not sure if that resets region always (I mean, if you are in main menu or in any other menu, rather then region selection) but it definitely resets it to "open" once you are in region selection screen 👌
It’s a fun little cruiser, but I’ve been super disappointed by the analog video transmitter. Other than that it’s been awesome! I love the long buttery life.
Hi Joshua, I hope you can answer me this question: What is the point of having a super low latency on the controls side like with TBS Tracer when you have a much higher latency on the FPV Video signal especially with the DJI HD video?
You still have a faster response. From the moment you see an obstacle till the quad responds there are 3 factors. The latency of the video signal, the latency of the pilot reacting and the latency from the radio to the quad. If you can improve one it still improves the overall resonse time even if the video is still slower.
24:04 it should be mentioned because the TBS Crossfire manual doesn't tell you how to do it, but if flying in 150hz (Force150) you can only use it at 25mW or 100mW. 150hz low latency mode for racing for instance won't work in 10mW, 500mW, 1W, or 2W depending on your module. The light will change to either a blue color (25mW) or to a tourquoise color (100mW).
Something people fail to mention is that if you are using an AUX switch assigned to a channel beyond Channel 8, you have to go the CSFR LUA > Nano TX and change the channel mode from 8 to 12. I assigned my turtle mode switch to channel 9 and it took me 45 minutes to find that this was a necessary step. I don't think it's even mentioned in the TBS Guide and I wasn't even aware that setting existed. Before crossfire and I was learned that I had to increase the number of channels to adjust for the AUX switch assigned to channel 9. But I had no idea that it had to be done for the crossfire RX.
Wow, this is the exact info I've been looking for. When I go into 'Tools', then 'Crossfire Configure', I don't have an XF Nano RX option...? It only lists Micro TX & XF Wifi. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Is it possible to use this technology to transfer data between a sensor and a computer in a big distance? I mean, can those be used in anything else other than drones?
Regards Very good , your videos I have a taranis X lite and I bought the crossfire nano with its receiver but my taranis does I do not see the crossfire option in the protocol section, could you give me some advice with that, thanks
You need to flash the open version of OpenTX from the opentx web site. Links are in the video description. FrSky ships a nerfed version of OpenTX that does not have Crossfire in it.
Thanks for all your videos! I’ve watched and followed this multiple times along with other guides. I’m having failsafes at couple hundred ft. Best result was about .5 mile at failsafe. Tried everything besides taking it off 915mh. Tried new rx. New immortal t antennas. Moving rx and antenna to different spots incase interference. What could I be missing? About to go back to frsky
Thanks for the Amazing video . I have followed your video and trying to make the TBS nano receiver for PWM output to fly planes . I am not receving the option tracer nano RX under the Crossfire settings , done the firmware update too no go , could you please help ?
I recently got the flywoo lr analog. I also bought the tbs nano kit. Thanks for doing this. I got it working! The only problem I have now is for some reason I can't get the telemetry to show up on the screen I just get video, most of the time. After a restart I got it a couple times but no video! then back to getting video n no telemetry. Driving me crazy trying to figure it out. Any ideas would be appreciated.
what do the LED's on the receiver do when the bind is successful? what does a solid red LED mean on the receiver and a blinking blue on the transmitter mean?
I just got the TBS tango 2 radio and antenna module. I am replacing frsky on my cinewhoop. Would I just take out the frsky wires and solder the wires from the crossfire in the same spot?
Hi there. The "Include Beta Firmware" button isn't there anymore. Does that just mean that it is default enabled, or do I need to dig deeper to check that it can include Beta?
Hi Joshua, Now i bought a Crossfire Tbs wit nano rx and put it in my TX16S i was able to bind it, rx and tx are solid green, but there is no tx response on inav, when i move the sticks nothing happend, Flightboard says tx5 , so i connect the receiver on tx5 and set it on ports tap on inav, also did i set crossfire on output signal on inav but stil no response? I changend the wires tx to rx and reverse nothing happends. Slowly i get fed up with this stuff , i dont want to spend hours of trying to get 15 min joy of flight. Hope you can help me. Following along at home trying to update taranis X9d in open TX and get error at the read write stage. I remember this was a huge pain in the ass the first time I updated radio, it took me days. I have Tracer already working on version 5.04 so I guess I will just not do the radio update. I dont get Crossfire showing up in the LUA but whatever. It works......
Hi guys I have a question, I have a TBS crossfire Tx and a TBS crossfire nano diversity Rx. Originally everything was working correctly. Then my receiver stopped working. I took photos of the wiring and then bought a new Rx (same tbs crossfire nano diversity). I connected it exactly the same as the other receiver to the FC. I then bound the new Rx to my remote. However, I had to run an update on the Rx first. Both lights on the TX and RX turned to a solid green. I connected my drone to betaflight, plugged in the battery and turned on my controller. I went to the receiver menu and moved the sticks only to see nothing happen. I'm receiving no stick input yet my controller is bound correctly (when I unplug it says "telemetry lost"). I am really stumped on this and have spent hours and hours googling I have no idea what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thank you
QUESTION: In the listing on bangood TX16S comes with the option "With TBS Micro TX V2" what's the difference with the standard one? It's the standard good if I have a drone with the TBS Crossfire Nano RX ?
@Joshua Bardwell I’m in the middle of switching to tracer and just saw this FrSky problem on the TBS tracer instructions so was searching here how to fit it to the X9D+ and hit this video! so glad i did, looking again it does say on the instructions models before the Qx7 are not affected 🤦🏻 cheers buddy you saved the day once again.
You are a legend!,thanks for this tutorial,as a relative newbie,it helped loads setting up micro tx on my tx12,allthough now Ive got to get the lua scripts on the radio as the only tools option is spectrum ints 🤘🏻
Heres my issue using it on a Jumper T18 So I have a weird thing going on, At first I had it all set up in my 6ch airplane, Im using the TBS tracer with the 6ch Nano rx. Theres no mixes or anything when I created a new model. So the problem is, when I move the aileron stick to the left the rudder servo starts glitching, if I move the aileron stick right the flaps start twitching, if i move the elevator down the rudder starts twitching. So I did another test outside the plane on the workbench and just used 2 servos, I plugged one servo into the aileron port on the rx and plugged the other servo into the rudder port and plugged in a rx battery . Soon as I moved the aileron stick to the left , the rudder servo glitches, now here is something really weird. I have no servo plugged into the elevator port on rx, but if I pull back on the elevator stick the rudder servo glitches. So Im so confused on whats going on , is there a fix for this or is something broken
Mambo doesn't give you the option to change Internal RF, since the only option for internal is the built-in crossfire module. Can't go inside the model -- not sure what you're asking. Press the Menu button one time to go into the Model Setup.

I have a question hopefully some of you can answer, i just installed tbs tracer nano on my drone yesterday and got a failsafe today. Was wondering why my Radiomaster tx16s didn't say anything like "RSSI Low" like it usually did on my old frsky receiver. Is that normal? Already did ruclips.net/video/HZg0gR4b0XU/видео.html&ab_channel=JoshuaBardwell
@@JoshuaBardwell oh i miss that. Although i was hoping to use the wifi to connect to betaflight wirelessly by mavlink protocol.
TBS tracer, TBS crossfire, which one is better? doesn't matter, that's not what this video is about!😂 Thanks, Joshua for that lovely intro!
I just want to say thank you for your hard work.
I needed this video! Impeccable timing Mr. Bardwell
Thank you for this guide! Just switched to the TX16S with tracer and this video was extremely helpful.
what do the LED's on the receiver do when the bind is successful? what does a solid red LED mean on the receiver and a blinking blue on the transmitter mean?
I just got the TBS tango 2 radio and antenna module. I am replacing frsky on my cinewhoop. Would I just take out the frsky wires and solder the wires from the crossfire in the same spot?
Hi there. The "Include Beta Firmware" button isn't there anymore. Does that just mean that it is default enabled, or do I need to dig deeper to check that it can include Beta?
Hi Joshua,
Now i bought a Crossfire Tbs wit nano rx and put it in my TX16S i was able to bind it, rx and tx are solid green, but there is no tx response on inav, when i move the sticks nothing happend, Flightboard says tx5 , so i connect the receiver on tx5 and set it on ports tap on inav, also did i set crossfire on output signal on inav but stil no response?
I changend the wires tx to rx and reverse nothing happends.
Slowly i get fed up with this stuff , i dont want to spend hours of trying to get 15 min joy of flight.
Hope you can help me.
Regards from Hamburg
Following along at home trying to update taranis X9d in open TX and get error at the read write stage. I remember this was a huge pain in the ass the first time I updated radio, it took me days.
I have Tracer already working on version 5.04 so I guess I will just not do the radio update. I dont get Crossfire showing up in the LUA but whatever. It works......
Nice work Josh. Very detailed.
Bind through agent x is always a sure fire way and easiest imo
My esc puts out 7.5v to the original receiver, is that too much for the nano receiver?
Someday I might remember how to setup my stuff. But until then, Thanks Josh
My reciever won't update. It jut goes back to an orang light after a second. How do I fix this issue.
I guess if I had this situation, I would do emergency recovery on the receiver and then try again to bind it.
Hi guys I have a question,
I have a TBS crossfire Tx and a TBS crossfire nano diversity Rx.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Thank you
QUESTION: In the listing on bangood TX16S comes with the option "With TBS Micro TX V2" what's the difference with the standard one? It's the standard good if I have a drone with the TBS Crossfire Nano RX ?
Does it fit on qx7? TBS does not liste it on it website
If it has a JR port on the back of the radio it will work. I used to have a QX7 ACCST radio and ran Crossfire on it.
Yes it can, because it’s in the same housing as tbs micro
Thank you for this!! Perfect timing!! Just bought a crossfire starter set!!
I’m looking to jump a get the tracer but Q time I’ve got the old x9d plus. Do I need to worry about the Inverter chip for the transmitter
X9D was never affected by that situation. You're fine.
@@JoshuaBardwell cheers
@Joshua Bardwell I’m in the middle of switching to tracer and just saw this FrSky problem on the TBS tracer instructions so was searching here how to fit it to the X9D+ and hit this video! so glad i did, looking again it does say on the instructions models before the Qx7 are not affected 🤦🏻 cheers buddy you saved the day once again.
Like always, this is a great Video. Thank you.
You are a legend!,thanks for this tutorial,as a relative newbie,it helped loads setting up micro tx on my tx12,allthough now Ive got to get the lua scripts on the radio as the only tools option is spectrum ints 🤘🏻
Heres my issue using it on a Jumper T18
So I have a weird thing going on, At first I had it all set up in my 6ch airplane, Im using the TBS tracer with the 6ch Nano rx.
Thank you for making this video. It really helped me set up crossfire.
is it not possible to get VBAT telemetry from the crsf receiver?
Can you use a crossfire receiver with a tracer module?? I have a couple 2.5 inch drones that don’t have room for two antennas
No you can't mix them.
So glad you mentioned that about the TBS diversity output mapping. Thought I fried it or something.
hi , i found your soundfiles on the sd card of my radiomaster zorro . how do i activate them ?
Can’t get my taranis x lite to work, the system bonds but as soon as I turn on the Taranis x lite the nano goes from green to red
So since I can't get my emaxx hawk pro working with the radiomaster tx16.
Using this set up I shouldn't have any problems?
When you said tbs crossfire nano diversity I literally lost my shit. I've been trying to get this receiver working for the longest.
how do you do 9:35 using the tbs mambo? i cant seem to go inside the model.
Mambo doesn't give you the option to change Internal RF, since the only option for internal is the built-in crossfire module. Can't go inside the model -- not sure what you're asking. Press the Menu button one time to go into the Model Setup.
@@JoshuaBardwell i was able to change the external rf into the value CRSF. now its showing yellow color however when click and do the binding, it stays as blinking green and never binds into the airunit.
i got a bad tbs cross fire module it wont update or bind sometimes it wont turn on or connect.now its just making lights but shows nothing wen connected to pc or controller
Question, when buying to Frsky qx7, What’s the LBT and NON LBT mean when I’m buying it
I have a question hopefully some of you can answer, i just installed tbs tracer nano on my drone yesterday and got a failsafe today. Was wondering why my Radiomaster tx16s didn't say anything like "RSSI Low" like it usually did on my old frsky receiver. Is that normal? Or do I have to do something so that my radio can give me audio notifications?
