Like Ian Dury said in the "Aja special" this music couldn't be recorded anywhere than where it was recorded :that is CALIFORNIA, and he added that when he heard SD he heard the cool sound of Coltrane, Mingus etc etc and of course the mellow sound of SD music. My opinion is that the song feels directionless. The groove is the best part but the melody is aimless and there's no dynamic or story. I'm glad it was left off Aja.

I would have loved to hear it. It would have been significantly tighter, which would have been an interesting thing to hear. Also, Marottas version would have been cool to hear.

Sounds very much like Purdie on drums, sounds very similar to the drumming on the royal scam! Marrota has a heavy dirty feel and Porcaro is laid back and very smooth and balanced feel.

I think it would've been good on some type of album of theirs, not so much Aja but if they didn't temporarily disband after Gaucho's release, I think a more complete version could've found a home in an album from that alternate timeline. It just needs some polishing, a few horn tracks, lyric reworking/finishing, and it'll sound greater than what we have here!

I think it varied from the tracks on Aja to much and the vocal is not as strong enough to make the album. Great to hear though.
