Ground clearance is important and vital for steering.
The design of this steering system is flawed. Aligning the steering arm parallel to the other linkages helped a lot. The longer tie rods probably help too.

These outside the box projects are quickly becoming my favorite type of RC videos. Anyone can swap a motor, ESC, or servo, but this changes the game. The only thing left to do is take off the curb magnets.lol

So I sorta loosely tried to fit the 14301 body on it and it seems like it was gonna have to be trimmed a bit more than this one for some reason. Maybe that was before I put the hex extenders on, I can’t remember. I think the 14301 body was a bit wider maybe. It will definitely work though!

i have the other mjx rally car with the same tires and they dont last long at all. i am having trouble finding tires the same size or close to it. your mods seem to work well but it looks a little silly but to each their own. good stuff.

I need to try that servo spring trick. My patience is running thin with these cars jamming up so easy, but I'm not giving up. They are well made, with beefy drive trains.. just that steering! Gaah! 😁
Yes try it! I’ll give you the link to the kit with that snap ring if you want it, but it is a full kit. You could just bring the saver to a hardware store and find one or another type of shim. Unfortunately it’s hard to say what improved the steering the most. Could also have been that the tie rods are longer, which would decrease the pushing angle just like raising the servo itself. I’m surprised they haven’t made revisions to the steering on any of the models. The 14210 all the way to the new “jetwood” version, the steering is crap lol
@@DerbyCityRC Good to know, and yeah that's unfortunate they all have the same issue. I'll probably do the hardware store thing at some point. I am just tired of having to do major surgery to make the thing work right. Preventive maintenance I don't mind though, it's expected 🤷♂
@scaleworksRC I know. It’s nuts they can’t fix it. Even Arrma is plagued with terrible steering. My 6s Kraton and 4s Outcast, manufacturered almost 3 years apart from each other, both had horrible steering out of the box. Still no real upgrades for the 4s to fix it. Haven’t taken it apart myself yet though.
@@DerbyCityRC It's the elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about.. lack of testing which they leave to us. Kinda stinks, but that's why I'm really glad for channels like yours. Because you have the experience and know-how to tell what's a solid RC and what's not, and how to make them better! 🦾

@martintrj5620 I haven’t done too much research into what the best fans are. They all break lol. Just one that is designed to fit that size motor and isn’t the cheapest lol

Thanks! I completely agree! I thought it was done when I hit my truck tire about 10 seconds into its first run lol Then curb after curb. I cut a few of them out too. I was very impressed.

@@DerbyCityRC haha my tip after 5 minutes of testing? don't glue the servo saver regardless of how annoying it is if it comes loose. I forgot how easily the steering on this car fowls with rocks or sand or anything. there's probably a reason it comes loose lol

hopefully the 14210 servo saver is the same spec, had trouble finding them for the 1430x

I love HyperGo Cars but I have issues with steering. Now want to upgrade to some metal parts and servo to reduce the way it stay loose. I have big big problem with unscrewing 2 bottom screws (those are keeping the M0522 metal steering support) I strip the screws all time. May I ask your suggestion about how to do it? Once more congrats for your awesome channel. I became addicted to it since I subscribed 😅😅😅😅
Thanks! 😃 are you sure those screws are stripped or are they spinning the whole shaft? Sometimes on steering posts, you also need to hold the screw on the top at the same time (can’t remember if you have to do that with this model or not) If it’s that the Phillips head is stripped out, then make sure you’re using the proper size, which is a P1. Next would probably be to drill them out and then remove the components and you could probably remove the screws with pliers. Stripped screws are awful! Glad you like the channel dude!! 😃

You are right. The screws must be kept on top/other side while unscrewing from bottom of the car BUT I kept them "locked" and there was no chance to be able to unscrew from bottom. The Phillip cross got totally ruined and the only option is to drill as you said. That's about my 14301. Since I have steering problems also on the 14210 I would love to upgrade the steering leverage sand I need to repeat the same process. I tried to unscrew very carefully and screw are really impossible to move. I wonder if there's Loctite on and if some heat would help or not....
In case I gave no other chance then to drill and then replace the M0522 pillars.
I have the same issue with the big screw that lock the central red bar 😬😬😬😬.
Its a pity that Mjx uses such a creepy screws quality. I would pay +20 bucks to have everywhere first class hex screws made of high grade steel!!!!!

I've been looking at the new SCY 16307 PRO PHANTOM the last few days , and on you tube . I'll wait for your review to see if the basic car with all it's basic electronics package is basically sound and good as a whole , before i lay down my money on a couple of them . Hopefully it will have a basically better working electronics package suited better for the car , than what you get with the UDIRC PRO BRUSHLESS models cars 👌 👍 .

i must get screws from the same manufacturer, mine are suspiciously weak too, i am nice and safe ( like you) but STILL somehow bend those screws... lololol lets me know i was having more fun than i even realized
I’ve broken a few mjx screws. They’re newer models, atleast some of them, come with hex hardware, so hopefully they also upped the hardness. Time will tell! Being “kind and easy” is the only way to ensure the cars safety! 😂

Nice! However, be aware that the Hoonitruck body is wider and still got the tires even with them wide like they are. It will need some other sort of accommodation, or you could pick up this body and body mount posts lol.

The rlaarlo website will have the stock parts and maybe some upgrades. That car is also based off the LC racing platform so may be able to get parts from them too!

I have only been following your channel for a little while but I have noticed something silly in several video's. Bushy beard at the beginning of the video, trimmed beard halfway through the video. What's the dealio? Or did I forget to take my meds? 😉
Haha! Some videos are filmed over the course of days or even weeks so hair cuts tend to happen in that time. I have 4 kids 7 and under so making time for a hair cut can be difficult lol That is all 😂
