take the front fender liners out and the limiters, itll drift soo much better. im on day 2 of owning my rx7 and i did the above mentioned mods aswell as moved the battery above the rear subframe and installed a afrc v4 gyro. thing drifts amazingly now
I had the same problem. When mine turned left, one of the wheels wouldn’t spin. I removed the tiny plastic pins that made the wheel rub off of the body of the car. It fixed the problem, and I drifted happily ever after.
Absolutely love the look of this! Lotta good small scale bodies coming out right now, btw you should check out the cdx d52! I am really looking forward to hooefully seeing it on this channel!
Wow the more I'm seeing the more stoked I'm getting to play around with the 1801. Don't worry about your driving. It's definitely not as easy as it looks.
I'm all for having all the light functions on RCs, but I also like some scale realism... It would be great if manufacturers added a on/off switch for the turning signals. No-one would use them while drifting or crawling, for example... 😛 Good review! 🙏
Fantastic review mate. Thats a great little car. I'll be ordering the RX7 & NSX this afternoon. How could i not at the price. From what i can see, it scores big on the bang for buck scales. 🤩
The reason the front was scratched is because that car wasn’t brand new, someone returned it and then it was sent to you. I know this because my one didn’t have the suspension locks in place and the battery wasn’t connected. But it is a great model for the money, and you made a very good video review.👍
I’ve had the Rx7 on the bench to review for a while now. Haven’t had a chance to get to review yet axx sex these have been some crazy days lately, but watching your video as well as a few others has got me excited to get it started! Also got the nsx coming . I nabbed each for under $45 US shipped! I have seen a few videos where the upper inner fender shroud is binding the wheel in full lock. And I see you have now figured that out. Good for you! It really remedied the issue! Awesome video my friend! There is a lot here with these cars for what they cost! Great job! Merry Christmas to you as well! ✌🏼🎄🎁🙌
The tail light section was hilarious.....rc community has had led kits and companies have lights that have resting lights and brake lights separate 😂😂😂
I wonder if you got a prototype RX7, but the rear taillights have the same functionality (just on, braking, reverse and indicators). Also, since the RX7, and also on the AE86 if you get the "LD1801" instead of the earlier "A86" or "A86P" iterations, if you long press the gyro button (alone, no need for the other button as you show), it goes to 0%. Long press again to restart the 25-50-75-100% cycle.
Hey there, I have also just bought a LDRC NSX but the low end version without many of the metal bits, lighting and built-in Gyro. I bought a cheapo Gyro and fitted into it and it works quite well. I have also noticed the same problem where the front wheel fender liner comes in contact with the wheel during a full turn. I have trimmed the fender liner with tools and gotten it to work. Additionally, I have also noticed that the front wheel actually hits the wheel arch when turning, I had to also use a dremel to trim the shell to allow the wheel to turn without any obstruction. At first I tried taking out the entire liner and that will fix the issue but I noticed the pop-up headlight droop down without the liner. This is likely a design flaw. I bought another NSX high end ver recently and am waiting for it to reach and I expect to see the same exact issue.
@@AMPROEngineering They probably want to get as much unit out as possible to ride on the hype lol. Small issues for those with a bit of knowledge and tools, a big turn off for total beginner I'm afraid. Speaking of hype, they are apparently making another new model with the Nissan R34 shell made of metal lol, I'm really excited for that!
I believe Tomley also had to remove his inner fenders on the FC because of the same issues. Also, I can't be the only one who hates turn signals on rc's 😅. No one uses turn signals while drifting around or turn signals while out crawling irl. If they're gonna give us turn signals, put them on a toggle switch!
This looks like it might be perfect for what I need. Picked up a Re Zero themed RC car in Japan, but its not even got proportional throttle, let alone steering (which is disappointing considering it wasn't the cheapest). Would be a shame to take that body off, as the reds good, but I think its just the right chassis for conversion
i wish that there was drag a.k.a rubber tire and a plastic drift tire and i also hope that the problem with the wheel is very rare beacuse i am getting one
Hmmm, I am uncertain of that. I know the AE86 had a V1 and V2 (both covered here) and they were massively different. My only thought is that perhaps they are selling a cheaper one with no Gyro like the V1 AE86?
hi, why is the wheel protruding that much on the right side compared to the left side? Is it adjustabele? Also the hight seems to be different on th right side compared to the left side. It puts the looks so much off.
@@AMPROEngineering hi, i bought the NSX 1:18 of this models. The car turn fine into the right direction, but dosnt in the other direction. Its understeering so heavy to the left side that you cant take corners even if you drive slowly. The wheels dosnt rub on the black fender as its the case often on these models. I took out the black fenders just to be sure. Still understeers so heavy, its impossible to take corners without drifting. What i saw is, that if you go with the car to the right side(where it takes the corner just fine) the innner wheel(right one) is in the air! If you turn into the left side(where it understeers heavely) then both wheels are touching the ground. What can cause this phenomenon?
So I have one over these in the v1 ae86 model I held the top button down for a couple seconds and bow the car does respond to the control accept for the first 2 seconds or so its on then quits and advice?
Having a seasoned driver will help show how good these are out of the box.
Oh for sure! I bet someone good would make this look amazing.
Those cars are excellent value for money. I already have the 86, but now you've made me want the Honda too.
This is better than the 86 for sure and I cannot get over the price!
take the front fender liners out and the limiters, itll drift soo much better. im on day 2 of owning my rx7 and i did the above mentioned mods aswell as moved the battery above the rear subframe and installed a afrc v4 gyro. thing drifts amazingly now
I fixed the car later in the video so it can run the liners. The limiters are also in since i didnt like the look of the raised front end.
I had the same problem. When mine turned left, one of the wheels wouldn’t spin. I removed the tiny plastic pins that made the wheel rub off of the body of the car. It fixed the problem, and I drifted happily ever after.
Yeah I thought about that too!
Is there a way you could show what you exactly removed?

Oh that is on the way!
@@AMPROEngineering heck yeah! Same for me lol
i think it’ll drift better with some electrical tape around the tires.. it needs a tad more grip
The more i wore out the tires, the better it ran.
Wow the more I'm seeing the more stoked I'm getting to play around with the 1801. Don't worry about your driving. It's definitely not as easy as it looks.
Yeah this one is really solid. I was surprised to see how good this was. The inner fender liner was a bit annoying though.
@@AMPROEngineering Mega bang for your buck though. Thanks for showing us the details!

@@AMPROEngineering a matter of preferences. No point in arguing. 🙂

Thank you. I am a hug fan of the RX7 and I really need to take them to a proper drift track.
I really want tge rx7. My buddy had the real white turbo 87 rx7.. I do like the nsx also. These cars are great
The RX7 is my favorite.

This is actually a pre-production model so it is likely it was heavily used for testing. It is certainly a heck of a bargain!
@@AMPROEngineering preproduction? So where are the final releases and how to be sure to get a finaly one.
I don't mind the blinkers, its just nice that these come with LED lights to begin with.
Yeah it is nice.

the Rx7 is my fave for sure. It is insane what they sell for! Merry Xmas!
The tail light section was hilarious.....rc community has had led kits and companies have lights that have resting lights and brake lights separate 😂😂😂
I dont get why that is so hard? I mean i feel like people dont know how tail lights work.
An Aw11 and Sw20 Toyota MR2 would be a cool version that LD/RC could make on this chassis.
this
That's unlikely to ever happen, but I agree that an AW11 would be excellent.
I would love those on this chassis.
Great video! Just started playing with the FC. Even got a upgraded gyro!
These are really slick cars!
The tail lights should be in the outer lenses, but still cool, and those flip up headlights are awesome
I think they are using generic pcbs for the LED's. Love those lights.

They AE86 did come with a rubber tire. I dont know why this didnt.
Is there a v1 and v2 of 1803? I see some listings seeming to suggest there is but could easily be a selling gimmick. I appreciate your insight
Hmmm, I am uncertain of that. I know the AE86 had a V1 and V2 (both covered here) and they were massively different. My only thought is that perhaps they are selling a cheaper one with no Gyro like the V1 AE86?
I see some people in the internet put external gyro(dasmicro v5) and it will be a lot better on drifting...
Oh im sure they have. this onboard one seems to work well enough but I just need practice.
Jeez thats a catchy tune at the intro.
Anyway, on with the video.....
Lol thanks
Very helpful review, thank you!!

hi, why is the wheel protruding that much on the right side compared to the left side? Is it adjustabele? Also the hight seems to be different on th right side compared to the left side. It puts the looks so much off.
It is the adjustable camber. They dont come all that well adjusted unfortunately.

Better RX7 or NSX ?
Depends on your preference. They have the same chassis. I like the RX7 FC more.
Does it come with regular tires?
This one does not.
Why do the prices fluctuate so much?
That is a great idea. Some of these have a gyro, some do not so that is one reason. You WANT the gyro.
@@AMPROEngineering Yes. I see some people putting a better gyro in these cars. I'm ordering a few and doing some modding when I get the chance.

This is twice the size and costs 4 times less.
Too bad it’s not 1/16 or 1/12 1/24 is just too small
Lots and lots of 1/10 ones out there. Wish the big ones were hard bodies.

4wd in drifting is not desirable.
Cool. This is 2wd so that helps.
