- Welcome to the Yu-Gi-Oh Character Roulette! Each week @MBTYuGiOh and I will spin a wheel to build a deck from packs featuring cards used by anime characters throughout Yu-Gi-Oh's history, and then we’ll craft 1 card of each rarity from our pack to round out our decks. After a character’s pack wins the match it’s removed from the wheel, while the losing pack is given a second chance at victory! Tune in every weekend for new episodes of Character Roulette!

I'd like to this but with modern decks while still being character specific, kinda like what would their deck look like in modern day. So kaiba would have all the new blues-eyes support but serena would have to play specifically a fusion lunalight deck so it's still accurate to the character. See what anime decks reins supreme (probably something from vrains)
If joseph went into the evolzar or dinowrestler packs after his first 10 just for shits and giggles I wouldnt even have been mad.

Joseph is playing constructed Dino’s and Doug had a 10 year olds first deck for locals. This might be one of the biggest gaps in decks roulette has ever seen LOL.

That natural instinct is actually how gage got his voice, he used to sound like Frank sinatra but after being too overconfident for to long his voice got stuck

If you're playing the character then 3 blue eyes is a given. I think certain cards should just be default because that's iconic for the character.

much like earth's history the primordial episode of character roulette was always meant to be ruled by the dinosaurs
Doug could’ve bought 3 BE structure decks and would’ve still pulled worse than MonoBigTyranno
SUGGESTION: I think it would be fair to suggest that the wheel will also provide the player with a free playset of the Character's iconic boss monster like 3 Blue-Eyes for Kaiba, 3 Dark Magician for Yugi, and even 3 Ra for Marik. You don't necessarily need to PLAY 3 Ra but having that option would be nice.
As Doug's pulls were going I was thinking that...the Jurrac pack should've been Hassleberry from GX given he is tied more to the Conductor Tyranno and Evolution Pills.
Hassleberry probably has the newer dino pack because the GX wheel is stronger so it’s more balanced there.
@@lukyshot248 Which is weird because the newer dino pack is moreso focused on normal dinosaurs like Frostosaurus and Megazowler, yknow, cards that would be at home in Rex Raptor's shitpot normal dinosaur pile.

I think with the characters that have a vanilla that aren't in the packs you should just get 3, it's gonna be a problem with red-eyes and dark magician too
I'm pretty sure most of the red eyes stuff doesn't touch the vanilla anymore. I could very well be wrong though, it's not an archetype I see or play much.

Most only mention 'normal monster' and 'Red-Eyes' monster so it is true that the vanilla is barely touched, however the vanilla is still the better monster to use because it fulfills all the condition for Red-Eyes S/T cards to function (the only other one that is about 'important' is Black Flare Dragon, that gemini retrain of vanilla.

I watched this live on Doug's channel, I couldn't believe MBT's deck and now that I watch the pulls from his perspective I can believe it even less

I don't care what the episode is like, from the intro alone I love the premise. although wish you had a wheel that combined all eras in one wheel. I want to see Playmaker vs Mai, things like that
The finale should definitely the best character decks they get from each era going against each other
They could cross the eras after or during the middle of the series.
Can't help but wonder if that would just feel too much like a repeat of Roulette, just minus a few decks, but it's hard to say.

I think it was designed so that we get to see less matchups that are heavily skewed on only one side to make things more interesting. Though I admit seeing the likes of Legendary Fisherman vs Firewall Dragon can be funny, I imagine it'll get stale quickly
This series should auto include 3 of the legacy pack/main cards if not in pack whenever they appear since those decks rely on them, that and I'm pretty sure having 3 of Dark Magician/ Blue Eyes doesn't really do much outside of making the deck actually playable. That said tho, this was a fun start to the new series and can't wait to see more.

maybe you could swap cards from the same rarity as the main cards that aren't in the packs? this might come up in a future episode and I think it's fair considering that the cards aren't usually that great and the decks barely function with a single one of them

I believe you should be allowed to swap any UR you open for the UR that SHOULD be in the pack.
In this case blue eyes. But also applies to dark magician and maybe something else I'm not thinking about...
I think you should add a rule to craft 3 of a signature card for the character you roll. If the character's signature card is unplayable or not clearly defined, you can craft one applicable extra UR from the pack you pull from. Deck's like Blue-Eyes or Dark Magician can hardly run without the singular focus of their deck and makes for a rather one-sided match, plus I think it would be interesting to see the character's signature card (or the retains of them) included because it's their namesake.
It wouldn't have helped here at all, but if you use characters who have cards in starter decks or gate rewards, you should have instant access to them regardless of pulls.
I think you should do a bracket for these characters. The losers get eliminated and the winners move on and get an additional Craft for each win.
Also think it would be kind of cool if you Auto included three field spells in each deck. Kind of like the duelist Kingdom.
Would be fun if the losing pack could keep some of the pulls or crafts from previous episodes if that person spin it again. So it gets stronger until it wins and goes away.
MBT pulls 20 packs and gets a constructed Dino deck, I draw 5 times and still need to craft half the URs and SRs for a playable deck xD
This series is already so fun lmao The idea is really cool and starting with such a gap was pretty funny
I'd say some packs just having their 3 named vanillas is an ok rule. I dont think it would've made a huge difference this episode but at least it doesnt invalidate some pulls because you dont have enough Blue Eys/Red Eyes/Dark Magician
This was peak Coughing Baby vs hydrogen bomb, MBT Literally pulled everything he could have ever asked for.
Jeez it's like how Master Roulette started out. It's like Konami took a look at all of MBT's latest pulls in both series and was like "well I think it's time to balance things out". Honestly MBT's deck was more like Hassleberry's deck rather than Rex. The trancendentalism pack and the dino cards in the latest pack seem more like what Rex played.
I'm sitting here at 11:11 yelling at my monitor for Doug to just give himself 3 Blue-Eyes. What integrity of the series are you trying to uphold by unnecessarily gimping your deck on the first episode of a series that is explicitly named character roulette?! All you're doing is just subjecting yourselves to some incredibly arbitrary decisions Konami made about where to stick Blue-Eyes in their video game. Kaiba had 3 Blue-Eyes so just say "I get up to 3 Blue-Eyes because the deck doesn't function without it".
My favorite part is the randomness of the pack openings. But anything with a wheel and random packs is awesome.
Rex beating Kaiba is cannon for me now. In all seriousness, I am looking forward to this new season of Roulette.

maybe allowing what we know as the bases of the character deck as default+ the packs from their related character to build up on their deck, would make this more fair?

Even though I watched it on twitch, I wanted to make special effort to come by for the first episode! This, being a wheel based sealed deckbuilding series is something I enjoy

Honestly, the worst part of the modern dinosaur-playstyle is that I barely have any clue about it. I'm trying to build a UCT-deck, but I have no idea whether Overtex is even worth putting into the deck (I suppose you could use Misc for that.) and don't even get me started on Archosaur. I guess it's technically a good card, but the fact that it requires other types makes it overly confusing to read.
Reptiles make sense because of the original Evolution Pill, but Winged Beasts and Sea Serpents? It's historically correct, but it probably hinders the deck more than it helps.
My main dinosaur deck is the Superconductor-structure deck from god knows which year (It actually got me into Yu-Gi-Oh in the first place.). I've played a fair bit of Survival's End-control in DL, but you can't compare that at all.
Wait a minute...Modern dinosaurs focus on effect destruction and Fire Kings recently got support. I'll build a Fire King-dinosaur-deck. That should do the trick.
I wanna love this, but this is like a fucked up power dynamic LMAO. Not giving Doug 3 Blue-Eyes, or the CHANCE to get 3 BEWDs, is just awful for building a BLUE-EYES deck. And MBT is just on constructed dino + Jurrac, despite the fact that NEITHER deck is Rex Raptor's Dinos, which are more accurately related to the Transcendosaurus stuff. MBT's deck is basically all Tyranno Hassleberry flavored cards, and 10 stages above Doug's in power level. It's frustrating to see coughing baby versus nuclear bomb for no apparent reason or fault of the players.

Considering the whole "Blue-Eyes White Dragon can be obtained through the structure deck", I think this series should add a condition that "you are free to craft 3 copies of the character's ace monster, as long as it fits the deck".
Example: 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon for Kaiba for the blue-eyes stuff.
So which pack will they open when they roll Hassleberry? Assuming Doug doesn't just pretend he doesn't exist.

I like the concept of this series. That being said, why was Rex Raptor paired with the Jurracs & Dinomasher's Fury cards? I know the new King rex stuff just released and are only in the selection pack, but UCT & evolution pill cards are retrained versions of Hassleberry's cards, so when we get to the GX characters are we just going to see this pack again? Anyways, looking forward for more.
This is the best master duel pulls for deck building I have ever seen
I'm probably in the minority with this, but I feel like if it's gonna be character duels, just skip the pulls and build a constructed deck of what the character would play nowadays. Now it's just Roulette with the packs having different names.
I love how NIrvana High Paladin is the non-Endymion example of cards with too much going on, but I have never seen it and not exclusively cared about the 300 on the end of its attack value.
yeah you should 100% get 3 of the normal monsters if you get a deck that literally relies on it, unless doug here wants those decks to be unplayable levels of bad every time they get spun, and the rule of it loses, which I assume would be applied to Red Eyes and Dark Magician is funny I suppose, but kinda stupid, it's basically admitting these decks can't win if they don't have their core normal monster, so idt it's viable long term

Cards in the legecy pack can't be pulled out of the master pack and vice versa. You literally can't pull blue-eyes in this series. But kiba would start with 3 of them so why can't doug or MBT. They should just pick a monster in the set they could have as a mate and get two or three copies of it.
These series are so funny because Doug is pretty clearly a better duelist when it comes to constructed but Joseph is the king of weird limited environments so Doug always feels like the underdog. Then you put him up against Farfa and they both just feel like neither of them know what's going on lol
Idea for the finale if we are going through up to Vrains for the wheel; best of five with the top 10 most cracked decks of the series. Ever wanted to see a cracked Joey wheeler Redeyes deck vs a cracked Shark’s Bahamat Shark deck? Well now you can.
I'll be honest the Deck's with specific That cannot be pulled from the pack but only from the legacy packs , just put atleast 2 at of it for free. but give like an extra free Craft to the other player ? But yeh i dunno this looks fun :P
The reason blue eyes is not in the pack or in the master packs at all (so you COULDN'T even draw it outside the pack, lmao) is because you get it from Legacy packs
