I was an x100 guy too. And its always described as an easy every day carry camera. But the reality is, it doesn't really fit in your pocket. Especially if it's summer. You don't have big enough pockets for it, so you have to have it on a strap over your shoulder. I ended up not taking it with me unless i was going out shooting. But the Ricoh i got on a whim, figured I'd miss the viewfinder, but i don't really. I take shots from different angles, it's great. And its always in my pocket. It just disappears when you're not using it, but it's there when you need it

That’s how I feel for sure, I am definitely shooting a lot more by just having the Ricoh with me in my pocket. Also, I’m shootings with my bigger Sony camera more too because if I’m going to go out shooting I’ll take photos with the full frame setup. X100 is great, but it does take away from either shooting with more depth, or the times when you normally wouldn’t have a camera

It always pissed me off when I've been told "You can't take pictures here,' when everybody was snapping away with their phones, and I couldn't take a picture because I was perceived as using "pro" gear. Now I shoot with a GR nobody notices me. That's why it's great for street too. Nobody pays you any attention.

I switched to GR few months ago. I had it for my trip to Japan recently. It made my trip so much more enjoyable because it is so light and small.

So they removed the pop up flash, because the ibis takes up that area. I miss the flash haha
Also, if you set the ibis to a custom button, and only turn it on when you actually need it, you save a lot of battery. It's always on by default, and its totally unnecessary in most cases

I've only had my GRIIIx for a couple of weeks and I have already used it so much more than I would have any other camera. Shooting so much really makes the GR feel like an extension of your body. You just get so used to it and always having it ready. I'm sure it'll only get better the more I use it

Yeah I feel like if you're permanently using a lens attachment to change the focal length you should just use an interchangeable lens camera. Otherwise you're losing all the advantages of both. Small but surprisingly powerful Vs bigger but way more flexibility.

Agree for social media posts it's more than enough. That's why I think the GR III is more versatile for street than the GR IIIx cos the latter could miss shots if you have no room to step back, which is a common issue in busy and cramped cities

I had the x100f.. great camera, but I found it to big to be a every day carry for the most part, and not practical for video work...great resale value for sure, I sold it and got a a7iv for my workhorse shooter, and plan on getting a gr to have in my pocket for when I'm wandering about.

    Hi there,
I watched this video for the second time - great effort on describing the differences of the two cameras.
I shoot street, use both Ricoh and Fuji, and I also sell cameras for a living.
I've had previous Ricoh models, and now 50k shots on the Ricoh GR III.
One feature for me, probably the most important difference between the two cameras you mentioned is image stabilization.
In my view it absolutely gives the Ricoh an advantage in comparisons.
If you haven't tried it, the GRIII will give you much better flexibility in shooting low light situations.
Try shooting a 1/4 second shutter on the X100V at night without a tripod.
Knowing what I know about cameras it boggles my mind that Ricoh found a way to engineer image stabilization of a sensor
this large in a body so small. Other manufacturers, including Fujifilm, haven't tried to take things this far. This photo is handheld 1/15 of a second, f2.8, zone focus [snap 2.5m] : instagram.com/p/Ch8ttXmL6Nz/
Again, I shoot Fuji and Ricoh. For me, looking at image quality, I don't see a difference. Although I think the Ricoh lens is a little sharper,.
And if you're shooting Jpeg only, Fujifilm definitely has the advantage.
I hope you get a chance to try low light shooting with the Ricoh.
    It's an addictive camera.

It isn’t that your comments are worth nothing. I find the 28mm too wide to use. If I had a Sony A7rX I could deal with the 28mm focal length as I could digitally zoom in. This is my primary disconnect with the GRIII. Then there is no VF. I use the VF a lot when framing my images. MAybe the GRIIIX would work but there is the VF thing.
Glad you like your GR III.
