“Amphibia is for white people” …Anne is literally Thai and a lot of that culture is present throughout the show, so IDK what the person who wrote that was smoking
"Change can be difficult, but it's how we grow. It can be the hardest thing to realize you can't hold on to something forever. Sometimes, you have to let it go. But of the things you let go, you'd be surprised what makes its way... back to you." - Anne Boonchuy from the episode "The Hardest Thing" I believe this quote fits very well in terms of nostalgia. IT IS the hardest thing to let go of something, so we desperately try to hold it on for as long as possible, even at the insult of new things.
@@littlemoth4956 Or like one of the main points in the video, assuming that any reboot or modern iteration of whatever is bad bcz it “doesn’t look the same” without judging the story, characters, or overall tone. Will agree that stuff like TTG, Powerpuff Girls 2016, Bob the Builder 2015, Ben 10 2017, Thundercats Roar and Clone High S2 are deserving of that factor, but it’s not like all remakes or iterations are like that! (for god’s sake CN/WB is not looking so hot but then again, Scooby Mystery Incorporated, Jellystone, Thundercats 2011, Looney Tunes Show, Fionna and Cake, My Adventures with Superman, and Samurai Jack Season 5 exists so whoop whoop, I’m calling it even 😉👍)
You said it, pal! Nostalgia bait is basically what ruins media in general. People are just bitching about how things were easier in the past. Those people might as well be Dinosaurs
Its kind of true but theyre ignoring this way any good things we have now, because obviously there was world crisis and price of everything has gone up and quality of life down nobody is denying that but theyre annoying and dont make it any better, nostalgia is for now to compare rather than lament to the past.
in the monster high fandom, G1 stans cancelled an entire kids tv show because G3 didn’t live up to their nostalgia 💀💀 the G1 stans straight up grown and hating on a show that’s meant for THEIR kids 😂
I heavily agree with you on this. And especially when TV shows from the 80’s and 90’s constantly rely on Nostalgia and past references to carry the most recent episodes. It’s just so annoying. Original ideas need to happen or else it’ll just get repetitive real fast
That Amphibia situation on twitter was so dumb and I regret making a video about it. But to the point, nostalgia itself is never a bad thing. It's how it gets used or how we try to justify is when it becomes a problem. I'm 31 years old, I have shows I grew up with that I know are different from today's programming for a multitude of reasons. But I still want to give new shows a try if they appeal to me in some fashion. If it's a good show and I don't vibe with it, the most I can do is not watch it. Let others enjoy their shows. A lot of shows and movies want to tell different stories that are based upon our individual experiences of the world, and I think that's great. Let's encourage more of that. Let more voices be heard. Let's just... have fun.
it doesn't matter, Amphibia has quality, so in 5 or 10 years a lot of random dudes wll going to say that it was underrated and will crying because they don't have shows like TOH, Ducktales, Amphibia, etc
I have a theory that society has a thirty year nostalgia gap. Back in the 90's the 60's were popular, because it was considered nostalgic. Now were in the 2020's and the 90's are nostalgic.
I mean, Back To The Future is a movie about an 80's teenage boy traveling to the 50's. And I also remember people were nostalgic for the 80's in the 2010's. Back To The Future Part II anyone?
I think that a good way to perceive nostalgia is to treat it as the world you want. Work to make things be like the way you nostalgically see them, if something was genuinely better in the past, work to make it that way again. If you remember a creation to be better than it is, work to create something similar but in the way that you perceived it to be. Nostalgia is my driving force, I am shaping the things I make by basically inverting nostalgia bias, it’s great, y’all’s should try it
I needed to hear this badly. I hate when Pixar stans glorify the classic films stating that their films were hardly schmaltzy when in reality they’ve mostly been schmaltzy in its lessons and moments. Even The Incredibles did. EmpLemon’s video on Pixar was revolting to me.
Hot take: I feel Disenchanted was low-key a criticism of nostalgia. Considering how Giselle longs for the fairy tale life she had, but ends up seeing some of the flaws of living that sort of life.
I have to agree, while it is nice to look back at the films we grow up with, we should look to the future and appreciate the effort put into newer films.
This discussion reminds me of Anton Ego's Review from Ratatouille: "In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over others in which they offer up their work and their selves to our judgement. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the important thing we critics must face is--in the grand scheme of things--the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the 'new.' The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The 'new' needs friends. Last night I had experienced something new: an extraordinary meal, from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core..."
And one of the worst things about Nostalgia Bait is once beloved directors who have been called out for banging legs and unsolicited embraces are still desperate for their reputation as creators of beloved movies, that they have to hammer down the implications in the trailers. And I thing you know who I am talking about.
@@cosmicspacething3474 Let’s just say that he used to be a CCO of Pixar and was called out for sexual misconduct and moved on to be leader of Skydance Animation. It was during the whole promotion of the Netflix film, "My Little Pony: A New Generation" Eventually i had to overcome this obsession of G4 and just move on.....
I learned to accept once i got into Tell your tales. Tbh while i still prefer g4, g5 is without a doubt my fav second mlp gen out of all. It may be disrespectful to g4's story, but who cares. I personally enjoy the main 5 more than the main 6 (not including twilight. shes my bbg) but its really sad that the show couldnt last long just because it wasnt in both hasbro's and the fandoms expectations. which rlly hurts the fans of g5. screw u hasbro
@@DrawciaGleam02 well tbh. Theyre far less annoying and imma give good reasons why. Zipp being my fav character, has a more chill personality and is far more cooler than RB. Pipp while being the loud mouth and "how you do fellow kids" may be annoying, but i personally like the social media aspects of her. her aesthetic is really amazing compared to rarity. Izzy is just izzy. She doesnt scream, yell, or is complete extra. her being silly makes me laugh more compared to Pinkie. Pinkie imo tries too hard and tends to have the worse episodes in FiM. Plus shes just.. idk. And Honestly the only cast of the main 6 i love is Twilight and Applejack. Sunny and Hitch are great but both tend to get the most middle fingers by the writers and isnt given full character writing. Theyre just bland atp. Idk who to compare fluttershy to, But i will say her character just sint that interesting to me
I don't have a lot of Nostalgia for things, so when i look at modern movies and media, i feel a little mixed, There's still a bunch of great modern movies, but i still prefer older media just cause it's cooler for me, but that's fine. when ya don't like something, just don't watch it, that is, don't watch it if you can't criticize it properly, but it's worth giving it try from times, doesn't work out, that's fine!
The _Old Nostalgia_ is gold from all of our past, it’s an always been great even from the get-go. 💠💗🔥🌌💯🌲🗿💎🗣️✨ But companies/corporations using nostalgia as an/their advantage just kills fresh concepts, Ideas and other stuff that thrives its course to the Movie/film Industry.
Thank you. It's so damn annoying to see this. An exemple I would like to mention is the Total Drama Reboot. The casual fans (not the fandom itself, but the "oh yeah, I liked it as a kid" people) are so blinded by nostalgia that they became incredibly annoying genwunners. When the newest cast was revealed, these people obviously complained, saying that they still wanted Gen 1, which has already been run into the ground, especially in season 5. It's like they forgot about that. In the end tho, the new cast became the second most beloved cast after the first one, with some saying that it's even better than the first one. Also, honestly, these nostalgic people make me worry that Fairly Oddparents A New Wish will get cancelled because it's more niche than the original and I'm worried that not many people outside of the fandom would give it a chance because of nostalgia bias
You have valid reasons there. The main reasons I was never truly interested in some of Pixar’s more recent films like Luca and Turning Red is primarily because of their use of very tired tropes I mostly could not stand even back in “the good old days” (bullies). Yet that’s just a personal pet peeve I have and I respect the films as such that are worth watching for others. I was skeptical about Elemental but I watched it and had a decent experience, as I can relate to it a bit in a way, as I’m an American immigrant turned citizen in France. Also I find Amphibia to be quite cool.👍
@@djcoolbeat6934 Tyler Nguyen-Baker, he even shows up when searching “Turning Red bully” on Google. But to be fair, he was rather harmless compared to most other animated bully character tropes I have seen.
I completely agree. Especially with Pixar case. It annoys me so much when I see people on RUclips or other social media platforms that would constantly glorify Pixar’s older movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille, but would continue to throw recent movies like Soul, Turning Red , and Elemental under the bus, because they don’t find those movies to be on par with Pixar’s old movies.
I think they’re right about Turning Red! Why would any Pixar fan want to see a teenage girl twerking in a family movie? And that Nostalgia Bait isn’t even the fault of viewers, it’s the executives and officers of the companies that are pandering so hard, they refuse to let any original creations thrive. And for TTG, while not necessarily the worst cartoon from Cartoon Network, has been going on for longer than it should, I mean, 11 years and the show still hasn’t run out of ideas yet. Why should we change if the companies behind the oversaturation of successful shows are doing anything but?

I agree that nostalgia can make us less open-minded and that we should stay interested in things we’re not used to. However, some people, like in the Mario Kart community, should really stop saying "nostalgia bias" when I share an opinion they disagree with. Mario Kart 7 was one of the 3 Mario Kart games I grew up with (the others being MKDS and MKWII), and despite this game still holding up even without the nostalgia goggles, tracks like Cheep Cheep Cape or 3DS Bowser’s Castle are still mid to me.
I used to think that nostalgia was the last emotion filmmakers should make you feel. Then I saw inside Out 2, and the first emotion I felt was nostalgia. The thing is Inside Out 2 had an amazing story most sequels, prequels, spin-offs, remakes, reboots and adaptations are to lazy to have a good story and abuse nostalgia, and have that emotion be the only reason the film makes a product. Nostalgia isn’t necessarily bad and ruining the film industry, it’s corporate laziness.
I feel so bad for modern Pixar, people should be grateful that Pixar is the only studio that still hasn’t change like the film industry I hope Pixar go well in the sequel era
I'm kinda mixed on this video. Yeah nostalgia can hurt the views of modern stuff both animated I won't argue there (That drama with Amphibia is just dumb) and I also agree that people need to embrace new stuff more, but IMO, nostalgia should also be viewed nowadays as well as embracing new stuff. Not the way Disney is doing it with live action and remakes but when it comes to new shows like introducing shows like Phineas and Ferb and the DuckTales reboot for a new audience to experience. For example, I for one am excited for the new Phineas and Ferb revival even though people have some concerns with it. But Hamster and Gretel while having a premise done before in newer shows is at least interesting and great to watch IMO. On the opposite end of that spectrum, as much as I like the original DuckTales series, I can't deny (and II'm gonna get a ton of hate for saying this) but some stuff of the show has not aged well, but we now have the reboot that in many ways surpassed the original and more memorable. I do apologize if my thoughts are jumbled, but there's a lot I wanted to say caus ewith this video there's a ton I agree with and some that I disagree with.
Honestly, the reboot of DuckTales has gone very well with fans the last few years, especially after the TV series ended in 2021. (I haven’t seen much of Phineas and Ferb, so I can’t comment on the show)
Honestly, it's a cycle. Look at how many 2010s movies are considered nostalgic now. In the next 10 years Luca, Turning Red, the like are definitely gonna fit in that category too....
U see this in practicly every fandom. The most popular thing is usualy just whatever the majority grew up on even if said thing was widely hated back when it was new
@@LEGONERD06 A Bug's Life was criminally hated back then. I did like it as a kid and like it now. But ig other ppl tend to love it more now for the sake of nostalgia.
As a Pokemon fan, thank you. Nostalgia-ridden fans have led to the iterations on iterations of Charizard/Gengar/Dragonite/Lucario getting all the attention when actually a lot of us just want to have some love for a new region. Nostalgia-ridden fans endlessly complain about the new designs and ignore that Gen 1 had a seal called Seel and a pigeon named Pidgey. Nostalgia-ridden fans will constantly go on about how much “simpler” it was then and how it’s all so complex now and blah blah blah. We get it, you miss your childhood, now grow up and let’s explore Paldea together.
There is nostalgia and constructive criticism vs. blind hating and baiting. Definitely give the new stuff try, but it’s ok to not like it if you really just don’t vibe with it. Because indie animation has been doing incredible well this year in my opinion/experience, but the industry stuff after covid (Soul, Luca, & Turning Red failed in my opinion from having it be on Disney+ not because nobody watched it) has been very lackluster lately.
I had a favorite cartoon when I was a kid. My brother and I always watched it when it was on TV, and recently I finally remembered what it was called "Kim possible". I was completely sure it was a masterpiece and of course I wanted to review it. So i sat down, watched a few episodes and jesus Christ what a BS it was 😭. Nostalgia disappointed me very much
I can’t believe I’m saying this is, you’re absolutely right about nostalgia. I mean, nothing wrong with it, but I see what you mean. I’ve heard someone say nostalgia doesn’t always equal good, if you agree with this statement.
another youtuber I watch, apelucas, made a video on why old media should be viewed. in that entire video, he never used nostalgia as leverage. you can view old media, but don't use it as a tool. yes, I like fnaf, Undertale, adventure time, and gravity falls, but I also like amazing digital circus and amphibia.
Soul Is not as matute as most people think, cause in it's attempts to appeal to an older audiences but not wanting to leave younger ones aisde, at the end it feels unfocused and dull at some points. tbh, nostalgia isn't really an emotion. Yeah, it was in inside out 2, but it was just for a gag, nostalgia theoritically isn't an "emotion", more of a human behavior
I saw the saberspark video of what ruined Disney channel and it was so bad. He only complained about the live action shows. Like, n there aren't any bad animated Disney channel shows at all... Also the reason why Disney channel became popular and the reason why Nickelodeon also started this trend with Drake and Josh, iCarly, Victorious and so on was because of the success from some live action Disney channel shows. Gosh sometimes Animation fans are just too cringe. Like Disney isnt only known because of the animation or its live action stuff, it's remembered because of the magic and both animated and live action shows have that.
You’re right lately I have stop being nostalgic for a good amount reasons and one of the reasons is, is that if you’re too nostalgic to even letting go of the past and moving on, it literally stops you from growing up and maturing later on in life. Now I’m sure you could be nostalgic for certain amount things but don’t hold on to nostalgia like it’s the last thing you have because it will still be there when you’re old enough to look back on the past and that’s why I just simply let it go.
I agree with your statement about using the the past to create new experiences for the future. Back in 2004, the movie "The Incredibles" was able to create a sense of nostalgia while not having to be based on an existing IP.
You know the old saying goes: Nostalgia can be one hell of a drug. Nothing wrong with a little nostalgia, but I always looking forward to new things. To be fair, there are some stuff from my childhood that I didn't like back then either. On the other hand, there are some stuff that came out now that weren't that bad. The problem I have with nostalgia is that people blindly treated the past look better than it already is instead looking at it objectively, and didn't give anything new a fair chance. It's best to move forward an not look backwards. Oh, as for the whole Amphibia Twitter situation, yeah, it's fuckin' stupid. You wanna know a good example of blind nostalgia ruined everything for everyone, this a good example. And you wonder we live in a world we can't have things. "DBZ knockoff" my ass.
Yes, it's true that we can't rely on nostalgia for everything, and we definitely need to welcome new stuff! Except the Splash Mountain Tiana retheme, that shit is ass.
This is exactly what goes on with SpongeBob. People are overly nostalgic towards the first 3 seasons and hate and dismiss everything released after the first movie.
In my opinion some of the characters became very flanderized, it feels like SpongeBob became a lot dumber over time There’s still great episodes, one of my favorite episodes is from Season 7, but some of it isn’t that good There were also some bad episodes in the the first three seasons, but nobody talks about them because of nostalgia
@@ThisIsAHandle-xz5yoYes! My only issue with modern SpongeBob is some of the characters being flanderized. But most characters who were either side characters or one of characters were given more screen time and writing than what they were given in the earlier seasons. Karen is the best example of this. She ain't just some computer of a Plankton's wife hooked to a wall or in wheels, shes been given more personality and energy and feels like her own character now.
The past is never going to be as good as you remember it because of rose tinted glasses and everyone these days is coping badly because of it, I hope in Inside Out 3 we see more of this emotion
This is very true, I am one of those people who tend to remember only good nostalgic moments, and completely forget the bad ones. But right now I'm trying to remember things more honestly, including all the stengths AND flaws. For example, as a kid I LOVED Disney's "Hercules", but as I rewatched it (about a year ago) I realized how much sеxism is in this movie. The character of Phil, who I thought was very funny as a child, now I think is kinda dіsgusting in a lot of moments. So, I don't see this movie as a perfect masterpiece anymore, but it doesn't mean that everyone should hаtе it or something. It still has great animation, songs, story, etc. It just isn't perfect, as many people blindеd by nostalgia might think.
A major reason i still watch movies/shows I grew up with isn't because of nostalgia, it's because of how well made they are. How much they get right. I apprecaite them more over time because of how impressive they are. A major reason i didn't watch something like the Incredibles 2 is because it didn't look or feel like a true continuation. Didn't feel like you could pick up right where we left off and never felt like you left. It just feels like another nostalgia bait reboot with some flashy animation. Hollywood has lost it's ability to be sincere towards the characters, the world, and most importantly towards the fans.
This is a great video. In terms of animated movies, I'm a big fan of the Trolls movies. Often times, I see other DreamWorks fans trash these movies just because they're not like the older DreamWorks movies. It sucks honestly because I can see what makes these movies great, yet people go on about how it's not Shrek or Kung Fu Panda, two series people get nostalgic over. Me and Pixar, I feel like I've been open to their recent movies, loved Luca, Turning Red, and Elemental.
Nostalgia didn’t ruin Pixar. It was cars two quite literally, the movie tanked Pixar with this stupid characters and desaturated animation and lack of story
@@SashaThomas954 Yeah, i kinda agree on that point. Even though i found Light-year... fine, i think Cars 2 has more rewatch value. Also, i was replying to the other guy earlier lol
Great video, mate. We should always feel positive about the new things coming out, from music (including smaller genres), film, literature, etc. It's okay to say something new is better than the older one or the older being better than the new, depending on quality. An example is me choosing 1983 Scarface over the original or the 2005 Chocolate Factory over the 1971 adaptation. When it comes to music, I enjoy even the smaller or moderately known music such as today's brutal electronic music from the Aim to Head channel, for example, rock and metal bands of this generation. Seems like some people don't want to dig deep into their research to look for something we would like, but when you do, you will feel much happier and more likely to appreciate the work artists put in. Traditional animation made its comeback in the 2020s in small cases like the release of Wolfwalkers and became one of my favourite animated movies of this era. DreamWorks has their two comebacks in the same year with CGI animated The Bad Guys and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which have meaningful messages. In the end, don't get stuck in the past, learn to move on, and build optimism. Try something that will benefit your health like talking about something you love such as those I mentioned and exercise. There is always more to life.
Nickelodeon is the single worst thing when it comes to nostalgia blind fans. Make mention of ANY show that came out after 2007 and it ain't gonna be pretty I learned that the hard way when speculating on the Nickelodeon crossover games that GameMill made from 2018-2023 As as all around Nick fan, I refuse to stick to my era of the channel and like certain shows from 1986 to today regardless of what my fellow 90's kids have to say
People nowadays mainly think Nick does nothing but milk that sponge and The Silent House to death, which yeah technically they are some of Nickelodeon’s most well-known franchises in modern times, that DOESN’T mean that they don’t make anything good anymore, or that they disrespect their older properties (unless if it’s stuff like the new Sandy Cheeks movie). I mean Glitch Techs, FOP A New Wish, and Nickelodeon’s own TMNT reboots were pretty well-recieved. I can’t really imagine someone thinking that they’re trash unless if they’re just petty nostalgia-blind (if u dont like these shows no offense and u may have valid points, but plz don’t use “it’s not what I grew up with” as an excuse.) And while Nick’s future may not look the brightest and it’s reputation has been incredibly hindered by a certain creepy individual, it’s not like Im gonna give up knowing what new stuff they have in store. You just never know until you find out! If anything, I’m just scared that they’ll rely TOO MUCH on nostalgia without giving their lesser-known cartoons a chance. I guess that’s why they threw a bunch of crap off of Paramount+. 😧💀🚩
In spite of my skepticism towards corporations and how they manage their profits, I am a lot more open minded than most people regarding new shows and/or movies.
I haven’t seen elemental yet and I might’ve been too young to really appreciate soul. (19 when it released.) but I absolutely loved turning red and Luca so I completely get where you’re coming from with how nostalgia can really damage our enjoyment of modern classics and how hypercritical comparison is the thief of joy.
In my opinion,Pixar is still an amazing studio(as a kid,I prefered the studio than Disney),maybe because how their movies puts some heart and good plot on it. In my opinion,Soul is my favorite of the recent movies of the studio that isn't a sequel (so Inside Out 2 don't count),while Turning Red is the least good of the recent movies for me
Inside Out 2 has proven that nostalgia can work. Deadpool and Wolverine has done the same too. Both movies made over a billion dollars and were welcomed by fans. This leaves me optimistic about the upcoming sequels. Besides, we didn't really give Disney a choice, in terms of them deciding to focus on sequels. If more Disney fans had just given Wish more of a chance, the film would've been more of a financial success, and it would've encouraged Disney to make more originals Also, X-men 97 is another good example that nostalgia works
I did not expect to agree with as much of what you said as I did. Blind nostalgia happens a lot in the video game fandom, too, and I didn't realize how big of an issue it can be.
sometimes its not nostalgia though. sometimes even after letting he nostalgia wear off entirely there's still issues. for example: i think the trend of oversimplifying designs looks bad. this is not because im thinking about the good old days, i had noticed the trend immediately once it started, and in a very real sense it goes against my tastes.
Well, right-wing nostalgia is pretty much worse example of blind nostalgia to extreme. Than personal, religious, cultural, subcultural like fandom, or even ‘left-wing’ and ‘far-left’ political blind nostalgia combined.
"The world you're looking for no longer exists! You missed it!" - Bigwell It is not just the exploitation of nostalgia that's the problem. It's the lack of heart that is ruining society around us. The movies are just the tip of a much bigger problem. Not all stories are original; we've been stacked up against a dead-end wall of creativity for so long a time that we've resorted to stealing ideas from others, regardless of them being original, inspiration, or references.
We need more original movies, the animation guild needs to strike for more original autobiographical stories, no more unnecessary sequels and live action remakes
@@Mariofanaticanimations I’m referring to crew teams and even entertainment studios like Disney get out of its way to pretend their animated ‘remake’ films (or 3D CGI hybrid ones) as “live-action” through aggressive means.
This is actually what I think killed the Star Wars sequels. Nostalgics were demanding more of what was in the original trilogy, instead of letting it do it's own thing. And, let's face it, the original trilogy had some pretty corny moments that fans are excusing as "part of the charm" or whatever.
@@sanjaychhetri5399The Force Awakens was considered an "apology" at the time of its release. An apology that the fans accepted. But then it apparently became retroactively bad after The Last Jedi, when... what was it... Luke did basically the same thing Obi Wan was doing when they first met? Or how they handled Rey's character arc, starting out as seemingly just a lowly commoner trying to survive in the desert, only getting drawn into the main conflict merely by happening to find an important lost droid, and then later revealed to actually be a descendant of the villain. Wait... that sounds familiar, doesn't it? I'm sure I heard that story before, somewhere. Now where was it? Or were they bad because of the writing? I remember complaints about how they kept stating the obvious. I'm sure it could have done with more classic style lines like "You turned off your targeting computer. Is something wrong?" or "They're going to execute master Luke!" I guess it could also have been that they were perceived as being too merchandise driven. Like the porgs that were originally invented because they were filming on a puffin sanctuary, and needed a way to cover up birds that wouldn't stay out of the shot. Clearly those were nothing but over-marketed filler that ate up several seconds of runtime, unlike those teddy bear-like ewoks who were completely necessary and relevant to the larger plot. I don't really remember what they accomplished besides that cringe thing with worshiping C3-PO, and later fighting some random nameless stormtroopers, but they must have been important somehow and not just designed for the sole purpose of being cute to sell toys. And the fact that they got a spin-off cartoon doesn't mean anything.
@@unrellated I suggest you should watch why Star Wars sequal trilogy sucks on youtube. There are several RUclips channels who can explain to you this metter better than me.
this conversation goes al over. Bottom line nostalgia not bad. There is hate for original ideas and demand for more of what used to exist Hate for old franchises and demand for new ideas Hate for changes to old things Love for changes to old things And both hate and love for sexualizing characters , letting them enter puberty, giving them a Canon physical attraction A lot of peoples anger at new original ideas is. It has the wrong amount of sex, profanity , violence or wrong main focus. A feeling that new shows censor too much or don't censor enough Its not just nostalgia, its change in morals Intolerance of art quality and technology writing styles and messages Bottom line our sides have been around for decades.
Let's just... have fun.
I'll always support amphibia so much

I have a theory that society has a thirty year nostalgia gap. Back in the 90's the 60's were popular, because it was considered nostalgic. Now were in the 2020's and the 90's are nostalgic.
That's what I was thinking. As time goes by, the newer generations become nostalgic for different eras from the past.

Hot take:
I feel Disenchanted was low-key a criticism of nostalgia.
Considering how Giselle longs for the fairy tale life she had, but ends up seeing some of the flaws of living that sort of life.
I have to agree, while it is nice to look back at the films we grow up with, we should look to the future and appreciate the effort put into newer films.
This discussion reminds me of Anton Ego's Review from Ratatouille:
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy.

But companies/corporations using nostalgia as an/their advantage just kills fresh concepts, Ideas and other stuff that thrives its course to the Movie/film Industry.

3:58 Tbf Inside out and its sequel are centered around EMOTIONS. Of course they’re gonna tackle the EMOTIONAL part of puberty a lot more…
I agree that nostalgia can make us less open-minded and that we should stay interested in things we’re not used to.
(I haven’t seen much of Phineas and Ferb, so I can’t comment on the show)
Tbh I feel like Phineas and Ferb never really ended, it just went to Milo Murphy’s law

I can't wait for the sequel "Stop. Being. Embarrased."

This is exactly what goes on with SpongeBob. People are overly nostalgic towards the first 3 seasons and hate and dismiss everything released after the first movie.
In my opinion some of the characters became very flanderized, it feels like SpongeBob became a lot dumber over time
There’s still great episodes, one of my favorite episodes is from Season 7, but some of it isn’t that good
There were also some bad episodes in the the first three seasons, but nobody talks about them because of nostalgia
100% agree. While the Pixar films we all loved as kids will always be masterpieces, it’s important to give these new movies a proper chance.
I think I have similar feelings towards parts of the first National Lampoon Vacation movie?
But to be fair, I didn't grow up watching it, so.....
Great video, mate. We should always feel positive about the new things coming out, from music (including smaller genres), film, literature, etc. It's okay to say something new is better than the older one or the older being better than the new, depending on quality.
I can’t really imagine someone thinking that they’re trash unless if they’re just petty nostalgia-blind (if u dont like these shows no offense and u may have valid points, but plz don’t use “it’s not what I grew up with” as an excuse.)
And while Nick’s future may not look the brightest and it’s reputation has been incredibly hindered by a certain creepy individual, it’s not like Im gonna give up knowing what new stuff they have in store. You just never know until you find out! If anything, I’m just scared that they’ll rely TOO MUCH on nostalgia without giving their lesser-known cartoons a chance. I guess that’s why they threw a bunch of crap off of Paramount+. 😧💀🚩
That and my fellow 90's kids are super elitist gatekeepers
In spite of my skepticism towards corporations and how they manage their profits, I am a lot more open minded than most people regarding new shows and/or movies.
this is probably one of the most based takes on movies in general i've seen, nice
In my opinion,Soul is my favorite of the recent movies of the studio that isn't a sequel (so Inside Out 2 don't count),while Turning Red is the least good of the recent movies for me
I barely watched Amphibia one year ago and I'm already super nostalgic of it.
If more Disney fans had just given Wish more of a chance, the film would've been more of a financial success, and it would've encouraged Disney to make more originals
Also, X-men 97 is another good example that nostalgia works
I did not expect to agree with as much of what you said as I did.
Blind nostalgia happens a lot in the video game fandom, too, and I didn't realize how big of an issue it can be.
I read the title and was like “I’m sorry I can’t help it”
sometimes its not nostalgia though. sometimes even after letting he nostalgia wear off entirely there's still issues. for example: i think the trend of oversimplifying designs looks bad. this is not because im thinking about the good old days, i had noticed the trend immediately once it started, and in a very real sense it goes against my tastes.
That’s genuine criticism, the video is taking about mindless hating
But the oversimplification design doesn't look bad
@@assassin8636 to me, it always has.
@@ThisIsAHandle-xz5yo people often conflate the two is my issue
Well, right-wing nostalgia is pretty much worse example of blind nostalgia to extreme. Than personal, religious, cultural, subcultural like fandom, or even ‘left-wing’ and ‘far-left’ political blind nostalgia combined.
"The world you're looking for no longer exists! You missed it!" - Bigwell
It is not just the exploitation of nostalgia that's the problem. It's the lack of heart that is ruining society around us. The movies are just the tip of a much bigger problem. Not all stories are original; we've been stacked up against a dead-end wall of creativity for so long a time that we've resorted to stealing ideas from others, regardless of them being original, inspiration, or references.
You do realize that in a world where hundreds of millions of fictional media exists there are bound to be similar stories
What the hell are you talking about? .-.
THANK YOU. This is so true.
Agreed 100%. You took the words right out of my mouth.
Toxic nostalgia can also be literally dangerous as well in that toxic nostalgia can lead to the rise of fascism.

THANK! YOU!
We stop being nostalgic, and watch Disney's stock PLUMMET!
We need more original movies, the animation guild needs to strike for more original autobiographical stories, no more unnecessary sequels and live action remakes
or self-loathing live action remakes for that matter too.
@@Chadjr2009 what does that mean
But these corporate greeds won't give them a chance.
@@Mariofanaticanimations I’m referring to crew teams and even entertainment studios like Disney get out of its way to pretend their animated ‘remake’ films (or 3D CGI hybrid ones) as “live-action” through aggressive means.
Oh please... They already did that and fail anyway, i did they need to do more sequels
I think I understand what this video is trying to Say, And I agree
Finding a connection with story themes, accepting change and moving forward with the new are very valid.
Honestly I LOVED Elementa, Luca and Soul just because they were good, like even if a film doesnt have a "vibe" it can still be a very good film
Nah i will keep nostalgia
"It's nice to visit the past but you can't live there".
I love amphibia and the pixar films so much!
And sometimes the past can influence the future just saying 👍👍😍👍👍😎😎😎😎
Marngel, are you in touch with Chandler from Sunnyland Productions? You two would get along pretty well.
Star Wars fandom:...
This is actually what I think killed the Star Wars sequels. Nostalgics were demanding more of what was in the original trilogy, instead of letting it do it's own thing. And, let's face it, the original trilogy had some pretty corny moments that fans are excusing as "part of the charm" or whatever.
1. Star Wars sequels were bad movies.
2. those so called nostaligic were not the cause of star wars sequal being bad.

There is hate for original ideas and demand for more of what used to exist
Hate for old franchises and demand for new ideas
Hate for changes to old things
Love for changes to old things
And both hate and love for sexualizing characters , letting them enter puberty, giving them a Canon physical attraction
A lot of peoples anger at new original ideas is. It has the wrong amount of sex, profanity , violence or wrong main focus.
A feeling that new shows censor too much or don't censor enough
Its not just nostalgia, its change in morals
Intolerance of art quality and technology
writing styles and messages
Bottom line our sides have been around for decades. Today we hate on Caped Crusader but when it first came out people hated on Tim Burton's Batman for much the same reason.
Its not so much nostalgia, its how much or how little sex, blood, nudity, profanity, we want our or other people's children to be exposed too.
i'm sorry but this sounds kinda edgy
ChatGPT took your shift on doing this so call “Essay”.
I won’t text nor say why but yeh, since I’m looking at it in a different light of perspective. (:
My favourite trait about myself is the lack of being blinded by nostalgia
I loved minecraft as a kid but I know minecraft is better now
I also think that Mario kart 8 and smash bros ultimate are better than the previous games I grew up with (Mario kart wii and smash bros wii u)
“stop being nostalgic” dawg its a human emotion like 😭💀

9 Don’t become angry quickly. Anger lives in the hearts of foolish people.
10 Don’t say, “Why were things better in the good old days?” It isn’t wise to ask that kind of question.

Weird how everyone is now making a video about nostalgia in a bad way
Great video! 👏👏👏
THANK YOU
What character is that sweet little grandma 👵 👳❓ on what show ? With the purple background
"Frutiger Aero" almost became unbearable because of this
The Title seems a bit too much like click-bait, my guy.
I like it 😊
Not really, he complains about nostalgia in the video, kinda easy to see
How is it clickbait?
What about implementing nostalgia in movies even if it includes original movies
But it also sweetens everything...
