Another thing worth saying about Savatage is that, from "Gutter Ballet" (1989) and onwards they became the best lyricists in Metal (imho).

You guys have got to do the final track from Wake of Magellan “ The Hourglass” it will blow your mind. The whole concept album itself is so great, but that song in particular is just in a league of its own. Love you guys and you reactions are fantastic!!

Check out the streets a rock opera album. Get the track listing and listen to then in order to get the full story. The guitar work is masterful.
This song is a prime reason why Savatage is the most underrated metal band in history. It has everything you could want in a song. You do know, I hope, that these are the guys that invented Trans Siberian Orchestra. This is also one of the top three solos after the death of original guitarist Kriss Oliva, a criminally underrated axe man.

I don't think anyone has mentioned that Savatage "became" The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. TSO was #1 last year on Billboard's top 100 for highest grossing US tours. Thank you so much for reviewing Savatage. ♡

Please go for Summer's Rain from their Gutter Ballet album, it's a timeless classic ballad with so much emotion in it.
I've always liked Savatage but am not familiar with their entire library, hadn't heard this song before. It's pretty cool. The guitar work at around 4:20 really hit me as sounding like Savatage from what I know of them. Still have that very theatrical vibe. Nice pick!

I randomly bought this album after finding out this band was the metal component of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Christmas Eve Sarajevo is worth a listen if you haven't heard it but I would be blown away if you haven't.

It's a metal opera like "Dead Winter Dead". You need to hear the whole album. It's a story about an old man wanting to die and other things. Did you know Savatage's side project is Trans Siberian Orchestra?

You should really listen to #Savatage "When the Crowds Are Gone", "Believe", "Alone You Breath". Three great songs that are connected. Also, Gutter Ballet is a great song as well.

At the time I was doing a 4 year bid. I heard Mudshovel on the local rock station we were able to get. A whole other life lol I finally heard it when I got released in March 2000. Awesome to say the least

Amaranthe (pronounced AM-uh-ranth) is a Swedish symphonic metal band. They are a guilty pleasure of mine and their songs are all very catchy and awesome. The songs I suggested above give a good rundown for what the band is about. I also suggested those three songs specifically because they feature all of the band members, current and past. The first song on the list, "Hunger", features the original lineup of members and comes from their self-titled debut album, released in 2011. The second song on the list, "Trinity", features a different harsh male vocalist than the previous song and comes from their third album, Massive Addictive, released in 2014. The final song on the list, "365", features a different clean male vocalist than the previous two songs and comes from their most recent album, Helix, released in 2018. Even though they are great live you should listen to a studio version first to hear the layers of guitars and big chanting choruses/vocals.
