These guys are probably the ones I like watching in terms of reaction videos. No overexaggerated thumbnails, no cringy intro, they know what they are taking about in terms of music, no shouting of screaming for views and overall they seem like a balanced and nice couple.

I just wanna say that true MetallicA fans enjoy MetallicA, because they love the band, the members, their stories, their musicianship. And I understand the die hard MetallicA fans out there are upset. But that's what we have to learn to do, and that is give that feeling that we felt 30-40 years ago when we first heard MetallicA, and let the new wave of the MetallicA army that is to be likey the last. And that's what it's about as a band and musicians. If you hate it? That's fine! But I love and live for diversity. And MetallicA gives it to me. Just because some of us don't enjoy it, dosnet mean the kid hanging out by the street light with no one isn't feeling alive to this. Think about that!

You know, like every band their music goes down hill as they get older, but I think for how old they are and where they're in their career, I think it's pretty good. I mean every band goes through this at some point in their career. You can't bring back the past, you can only live for today, and that's where they are at in their lives.
Translation: The bands I think are really good these days are unlistenable.
Nah man. Not every band goes through this stage. You've got bands like meshuggah writing the violent sleep of reason album in their old age, their most technically demanding, bonkers album. Even immutable which is their slower, more chilled out album, is still very creative.

Popped in to comment on the new additions to the set. Love the line up. Huge Tolkien fan so the hobbit is big. At work, we carried the arcade1up lineup of games, including the Star Wars pinball.
As far as the song, Metallica is not really my cup of tea. But we do sell a lot of it on vinyl. Fun thing an older fellow was in with his nephew aged early teens, with long involved discussion of Metallica. The kid bought a cd from his own pocket money, the vinyl was too costly for him.

Chorus has Ghost vibes. James does like Ghost. I think he added some Ghost influence there.
Menacing is a good word for this one and I imagine it's intentional. Seems to be coming from a dark place from what James had been dealing with the last few years.

Metallica have always had parts that feature very dark, heavy parts as well as lyrical content. Sad But True, Harvester of Sorrow, and The Thing that Should Not Be are just a few examples. This song was decent, obviously not as good as anything from ride the lightning or Master of Puppets or as catchy and mainstream as stuff from their self-titled album. It's good though, feels like it could have fit on the last album. The solo did feel a bit too long on this song though. If Kirk played a more streamlined solo like in Lux Aeterna, it might have fit a little better.
Everytime I hear this song and the little outro riff, it keeps reminding me of the outro riff from panteras I'm broken. Not exactly the same obviously but it has shades of it. A little faster and not as heavy but it's there
Some of the comments point up the distinction between what is technically more impressive to those who know something from the guitar playing side as to how difficult a given thing is to play as opposed what sounds good to people, and the latter, of course, is what matters ultimately in popular music.

Greatest Heavy Metal band of all time. Amazing band. They always kept it about the vibe. When all the other metal bands of their day fell to the wayside, Metallica just kept rocking. Hell, even the non Metal albums Load and Reload are great albums in their own right. Often duplicated, never outdone, Metallica is the real deal.

I agree with Kel about that one part. For me, it’s not that it gets “darker”, it’s that it completely breaks that wonderful hypnotic vibe with a totally uninteresting melodic line that detracts from the power of the groove. Also agree bass should be more foreword in the mix. Regarding drumming: Rich, I think your asking for Lars to be more like Bonham, but as far as I know, he’s always been a fairly straightforward drummer….besides he’s pushing 60…..I’m just glad he can still play with power.
Regarding the guitar solo: I agree with Ken but also think that that’s what most Metallica fans want to hear. For me, I would have preferred he take a lower register route with lots of distortion and wag wah…… would have loved to have seen what a young Jimmy Page would have done with that vibe. He would have been all over deep growling dark chord and wah wah.
