Was doing this on my old Acer v3-471g without battery and cooling fan broken. To clean the HD and prepare old workhorse for cannibalization. Did put it on cooling pad and turn AC on coldest and everything went fine til 93% then I did fcuk up with wires and accidently unplug the wrong charger. Now I have to go the hardway. Format HD and install windows from flash drive. Damn. I was waiting 5 hours and now I have to start from zero. Advice number one: do not touch Your computer while doing this, do not go close to it til its 100% done. :D

You will have to reinstall apps I'm afraid. If you are doing the 'keep data' option you will find a helpful list on your desktop when it's finished, called 'removed apps'. This tells you all the apps they've removed, and the websites where you can download them again.

Gbenga: well dislikes are invisible to people now, but the only thing I can think of is, maybe some people tried it and it didn't work out for them. but since computers can have all kinds of issues, sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint exactly what's going on. restarting or rebooting windows might not always address your issue, rebooting windows sometimes can fix a problem, but it's not always a guarantee. it's always smarter to have a professional look at your computer first, to make sure you don't screw something up.
The same happened here. If you are wanting to fully reset your computer follow these instructions. Go to file explorer, go to the drive were windows is installed, open windows folder, then go to software distribution, then delete the downloads folder. I learned this from an expert and it moved me from 2gb to 9gb. Hope this helped

Yo I got a decent pc, high end i5 gtx 1080ti 16gb of ram. However when I reset it my monitors show a no signal sign, after waiting an hour I decided to jus manually restart the computer with the power button. Pc Came back on with an error message. I’m just confused as to wether my pc is actually resetting as other tutorials show a monitor displaying a percentage of how far through the reset it is etc. However as I said mine shows a no signal sign. @@everydayfun9531 i will be completely honest with you, after i reset it it was okay for a few days then i had to reset it again and again because the issues reappeared and it was an endless cycle , it was only a waste of time and energy. Finally I got fed up and bought a new one, the best decision ever !!! A friend later on told me that resetting it does absolutely nothing unless I fully reset it and download the software again but since i know merely nothing about technology and don’t know if that was the reason. i hope you will have luck and get your device fixed properly because i know the feeling and you have my empathy…

Great tutorial! Simple and clean. A quick question: What happens to the drivers of key components such as the motherboard, gpu etc. when we select the 2nd option and delete everything? Do we have to download them or use an external component to install them such as DVD or USB? If the motherboard's driver is deleted than we won't be able to access the internet right?
@@taylorgang4652 Windows downloads all of the drivers itself. I had troubles with this but tried it anyway and everything went smoothly. I actually plan to do this once a year to clean my PC.

I've tried hitting F8 while it was booting up, and got to the reset menu, but after 31% it generates a message saying that an error was encountered and could not finish the reset. However when I reset it my monitors show a no signal sign, after waiting an hour I decided to jus manually restart the computer with the power button. Pc Came back on with an error message. I’m just confused as to wether my pc is actually resetting as other tutorials show a monitor displaying a percentage of how far through the reset it is etc. However as I said mine shows a no signal sign. Can anyone help?

@@everydayfun9531 i will be completely honest with you, after i reset it it was okay for a few days then i had to reset it again and again because the issues reappeared and it was an endless cycle , it was only a waste of time and energy. Finally I got fed up and bought a new one, the best decision ever !!!
A friend later on told me that resetting it does absolutely nothing unless I fully reset it and download the software again but since i know merely nothing about technology and don’t know if that was the reason.

@@izelhatirnaz9075 I resetted the whole damm laptop with my backup it's so annoying and so infuriating your laptops suppose to be in good top shape and it's an Yr old laptop how embarrassing was that today for me that I even had to go to a computer shop and the Laptop started to work again it F betrayed me...

A quick question: What happens to the drivers of key components such as the motherboard, gpu etc. when we select the 2nd option and delete everything? Do we have to download them or use an external component to install them such as DVD or USB? If the motherboard's driver is deleted than we won't be able to access the internet right?

@@taylorgang4652 Windows downloads all of the drivers itself. I had troubles with this but tried it anyway and everything went smoothly. I actually plan to do this once a year to clean my PC.

Me haven’t reset mine since I got it back in 2016.
Im resetting mine i got in 2018 cuz i got way too much stuff i dont use. Easier to completely do it so i literally only have what i need

I had to change hella settings lasstime for my mic to be normal, hyperx cloud alpha headset mic, and it took days. Now i gotta do that again. I honestly dunno if it was worth it yet cuz I havent played many games or anything yet but if you think its best for your pc go ahead.

When you do a clean factory reset do all the apps that were install when you received pc reinstall like Netflix, weather, office, OneNote and all the game apps, or do you have to reinstall them yourself?

Hello Dave, I am locked out of my Dell laptop, and I need to reset it. I've tried hitting F8 while it was booting up, and got to the reset menu, but after 31% it generates a message saying that an error was encountered and could not finish the reset.
Could you please help, I would like to ask two questions:
1- As I'm locked out, how can I log in as an admin?
2- how can I to a hard reset from the boot up menu?

In the middle of the reset it said undoing actions and then after it showed my account and when I try to log in it says could not connect to user data and only give me option to click ok is there any fix for this please I tried resetting again but it still does the same thing

Yes I did everything you say I had a power connection when it was plugged there but my son unplugged it and I didn't know there would dessame click OK start the installment all over again But it won't pull up light when you 1st start out with the keys and let it just up one at law window in the say and preparing So how do I get back to the States so I can restart it all back over againI need your help as soon as possible thank you
