Till (the singer) wrote this song as apology for the quarrel that he caused when he made the video for the song Mutter single-handedly. The other band members were exhausted after the last tour and needed vacations. Till decided not to wait for the others and did it alone. As the band has no leader but decides everything democratically, that led to a serious crisis within the band. So the song is about the band that only exists with all six original members. I'm not sure whether this agreement was made as a result of the crisis or whether this was already agreed in earlier times. The aluminium plate where Oliver (the bass player) punches in Till's name is the usual kind of tombstone for mountain climbers in regions where it is not possible to bring back a mountaineer that died during the ascent (e. g. in the death zone of Mount Everest). As usual all male roles in the video are played by the band members. This is not a typical song from Rammstein. Normally the songs are more upbeat and heavier. But they have various songs that are "untypical". And in a way, "untypical" is also typical for the band that now exists since 1994 in the same line-up. I don't speak German, but after watching this video it makes me reflect a bit on whether or not I've ever had any true friends in life. Would your friends carry your ass up a mountain even though they knew you were gonna die?
The German language can be so beautiful and poetic when you understand it. You should also react to their live performances, because that'll *really* blow your mind. Edit: Ususally I'm not suggesting this, but you also should switch subtitles on or read the lyrics (careful, mostly the songs lyrics has multiple meanings) and you maybe might use headphones for the musics editing really getting into your mind. None of that matters to most songs or bands, but when it comes Rammstein it sometimes does. 8:32 he didn't just pass out, he passed away. His friends granted him his last wish to climb to the peak, because there was no hope for him after the fall to survive. You got that point about nature and friendship right.
The lyrics are very mysterious: "Without you I am alone, but with you I am alone, too" But there are hints in the song: there is no life in the trees and ditches, breathing is hard, I go back to the firs, where I have you seen for the last time." Obviously he has murdered his girl in the woods and now he returns but "With you I am alone, too".

....this is not what Rammstein usualy do..a rare ballad.. The best band in the World, but this dows not represent Rammstein..I love it, but check with subtitles (the channel "Bucksttabu" has many of their songs translated.. Live or music-video, they are simply the BEST !) .. To many masterpieces, i won't enumerate all..but check live in Maddison Square Garden, or Paris..and ..
By the way u can go there by cable car, it’s in Austria 2800m ( the peak is a bit higher) u can have dinner a bit deeper on the other side. I think that was the reason, so they got the whole equipment without danger up there.
