Yes it is insane. Cold front coming in tonight and it is going to be 58 in the morning. Everything is really slowing down. It is low 80's during the days. You sound like you still have another month of good growth, probably even better than what you had in high heat this summer. Hopefully you get a flower!!!
Thanks for the update. Enjoy your videos. Mine in SoCal are doing good too. 9b. My possible freeze months are Jan and Feb. look forward to seeing your game plan. Planted 2 in March. Blue Java and Rajapuri. Actually driving 6 hours tomorrow to pick up double mohai, Orinoco and dwarf namwah. Probable keep them in pots til March 1 after frost. Fun challenge.

@@erikbell7427 The first generation are so slow. As you can see in my update video, the newest pup is growing 3x as fast as the original. I'm about 1 year ahead of you, so you should see significant growth next year. You could cut down the main ones once a good pup starts in the spring and allow that to grow by itself
My banana is about to flower!!!!!!! .. it’s putting out it’s pre flag now. Tomorrow I will make a video on it. Next weekend the flower will come.. I still can’t believe it! How is yours? .. should I make RUclips shorts on my banana flowering? Or actual videos?
Hey, I just bought 3 banana plants ranging from 2.5 and 3.5ft. They’re currently in pots and as winter approaches, I’m wondering if I should plant them in soil now or wait until after winter. I live in central California. Any insight helps! Thanks!
For best results, I'd keep in pots inside until early spring. Looking for lows at 45+ before planting outside. Anything below this could cause damage to young plants that aren't established yet. What lows do you see during winter?
Thats awesome, Please keep me updated with how they go and when they ripen. Maybe just a month or so from now for you. The pups really do grow exponentially faster than the first one. So I am very excited for next year!
What zone are you in? If a banana (any part) is exposed to freezing temperatures, it will die. Usually this is just back to the ground, but further north you can have the roots die as well. To keep them alive over winter, you can bring them inside over winter by either small ones being put in a pot, or bigger ones you can just dig up and put in dark basement. Other than that, you can try to heat them over the winter. I'm going to try some different methods here this winter to keep mine alive outside
The biggest one that is shown first is a dwarf nahwah, second is a double mahoi, third is a blue java. I expect the blue java to die back to ground this winter for sure though
Exactly, if you live where it gets cold in the winter, you want to stop fertilizing in the fall. This will allow the bananas to focus more on being healthy rather than growing and producing new leaves.
@@frostylonewolf1700 Depending on temperature, the leaves will most likely turn brown and die. You will need to cut them off as they die. Yellowing should not be an issue because growth will greatly slow down. If your temperatures stay above 50 degrees at night through the winter, you can keep fertilizing
50s next week for you at night!!!?? We are still in the 70s at night and 90s in the daytime

Amazing, I have a blue java, double mahoi, and dwarf namwah. Would love to see the double flower next year on the double mahoi
Massive!! Hoping for that kind of growth next year! My three banana plants have topped out at 4.5 ft.
Where do you live Erik? Temperature plays a big part, mine are starting to slow down. Each year they get faster and faster though!

Make both! I love the shorts you’ve been doing. But also enjoy some good footage explaining what’s going on. That’s what people like I’ve found.
One more update this season!? They look insane!
Definitely will have another october update. And then a winterizing video sometime late october. The dwarf namwah is so thick at the base
