This is the best raspberry video I've watched. Explained in simple terms with diagrams for everyone to see exactly what to do. Full credit to you for keeping it simple and including your pictures so even beginner raspberry growers can easily see what to do. I've been gardening my whole life but never grown raspberries and wanted to try but all the videos make it harder than it needs to be. Yours is perfect. Thank you.
G'day! Wow, thanks so much for the amazing feedback. This made my day! I hope you have great success with your raspberries as it is an absolute joy to pluck one off the cane and eat it fresh. All the best, Daz.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen I have the confidence now to grow them thanks to your video. I was confused as to prunimg the different varieties but your simple explanation has resolved that for me. I went to Bunnings and bought a couple of chilcotin and have some golden ones I bought from diggers then last night saw Daley's had tulameen on sale so ordered a pack of those too. Not sure how thorny the golden ones will be but the others Daley's says have less than some other varieties. Some varieties I've seen in Bunnings look terribly thorny. How do you find the thorns? Are some varieties harder to pick with more thorns? I found a Chester blackberry alive under my fruit trees recently but to get it out I had to prune all the canes. I'm assuming seeing I did that I've cut off next year's fruiting ones and will have to wait a year or two for more berries?
G'day! I see what you did there and you are "berry" welcome. 😁 I'm so happy that the video has been helping others, as I was so confused when I first started growing raspberries. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave your really nice feedback. All the best. Daz.
I've been experimenting different kinds of raspberry plants here in Norway, and I've been searching for tips and explanations. And ive gotten nowhere! Until this video. Thank you for this great detailed video!
G'day! Oh thanks so much for taking the time to leave such wonderful feedback. I struggled with raspberries when I as a beginner and I really hope this video will help lots of people. Thanks so much for watching and good luck with your delicious raspberries. Daz.
Thank you for covering pruning! I tuned in to You Tube to learn HOW to prune my raspberries. Yours is the third video I have watched and the first to cover pruning!! Thank you so much!!
G'day Nola. I really hope the video helps and you have great success there. Winter will be finished here in 2 weeks, so all my pruning is done and I am very much looking forward to picking fresh raspberries later in the year. Thanks very much for watching my video and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Nola. All the best. Daz.
I have a raspberry plant and it’s a golden one and it’s starting to make flowers. I’ve just noticed that it’s got some flower buds and those flowers will start to form soon and then those flowers will die and turn into raspberries.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 I can’t wait to eat those raspberries. I’ve never had golden raspberries before.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
G'day! That sounds great and I really hope you find them delicious. I don't have yellow ones here, but I'd love to have those and black ones here one day. Thanks very much for taking the time to watch and for leaving nice comments on my videos. Take care. Daz.
The whistle was an effective punctuation! Good to see proper backyard building re your shade cloth! Sick of seeing expensive stuff on backyard gardening shows! Great video. Regards from Tassie
G'day! I'm now in my 4th week of being stuck in bed sick, so I am so sorry for this slow reply. I just wanted to say thanks so much for watching the video and for taking the extra time to leave a comment. All the best. Daz.
You’re right about raspberries spreading. That’s why you got to watch out if you don’t have the space. They will take over!! I was reading some of the comments below and using them to feed chickens. This group of chickens I had didn’t enjoy anything I gave them except their feed and some dandelion weeds. Very educational video Daz. Thanks for this. I liked the paper drawings.
G'day. I'm really sorry for the slow reply, but I have not been well and I am falling behind. Yes, they love to spread, that's for sure. Free plants for next season, but yues, you need the room. It's funny with my chickens as they are so used to eating them as a treat, that they come running over every single time I go and do anything at those beds now. Thankfully I grow so many that I am happy to share. That cake decorating video was so much fun guys. Looked like you had a great time doing it. All the best. Daz.
G'day. Yes! Absolutely and I am looking forward to that myself this season. Luckily I have plenty here, so I enjoy sharing them with the chickens too. Thanks and I hope you are well, Daz.
G'day! Thanks so much! I really hoped that I could be of help to someone and it's so satisfying receiving such nice feedback. Good luck withy your raspberries. Daz.
G'day! Thanks so much for your kind words. That is awesome and it made my day! I'm just picking the first raspberries of the season this weekend actually and they are so delicious! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave your wonderful comment. Daz.
G'day! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time leave wonderful comments. Good luck with your raspberries and I hope you enjoy lots. All the best. Daz.
Thanks ,bought my first raspberry plant was small its grown now ,about a metre tall ,had no idea when it fruits. Thanks a lot makes sense now thanks to you .
G'day guys. I was so upset when the file was corrupted, so I'm glad the drawing worked out. Thanks for being there and I'm sure it must have been pretty late for you over there. Much appreciated, you two and all the best. Daz.
Have always struggled with raspberry’s but after watching your video I’m going to give them another go. This is the best video I have seen explaining the different types and made everything super clear. Thank you!
G'day Jordan. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video and thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice comment! I really hope you have success and get to enjoy them as much as I do. I'm still yet to make a jam with them, as we just cannot resist eating them fresh. 😁 Feel free to get in touch if you need to Jordan. All the best. Daz.
Thank you for the reply! Most RUclipsr gardeners are from overseas so it’s great to watch an Australian RUclipsr. Will defiantly check out your other videos 👍

G'day Arielle. Thanks very much for being here and watching my video. I really do appreciate it. They are so delicious and I can't wait for them to grow this season. All the best and take care. Daz.
I just checked online tomato plant and it’s got flower buds. Two are starting to bloom the others. No they’re not starting to bloom yet but they will soon. I know they will.😊😊😊😊😊
This is the best raspberry video ever. So thankful for the time you took to make visual diagrams! You were so clear, to the point and answered all my questions! Thanks so much! Keep the videos coming!
G'day! Wow, thanks so much for the huge compliment. I'm so glad the video has helped you. I just love my raspberries and I'm glad I am in a position where I can hopefully helps lots of others enjoy them too. Good luck getting them into the kitchen. Mine are just too tempting to have sitting around for more than 5 minutes. 😁 All the best, Daz.
This is very informative and educational. I know nothing about growing rasberry but watching this gives me some idea if I should every try! Thank you for sharing
I have had huge issues with burning leaves! I assumed it needed less sun and moved the plant - only for it to not like that shaded spot. I’m off to Bunnings tmrw for some shade cloth 😊 thank you!!!
G'day! Oh I hope that helps! It makes such a huge difference here and shade cloth was the best move I did with my raspberries. I hope to get a video together in the near future to show how shade cloth gives me an abundance of plump blackberries, were as the plant left to full sun, had every single fruit dry up and die off. Good luck and enjoy the Bunnings trip. I don't leave my house as I have PTSD and Agoraphobia now, but Bunnings was like Disneyland to me. 😂 My wife refused to go with me after a while as I took so long. 😁 All the best. Daz.
G'day! Thanks so much for the wonderful compliment. It means so much. I'm now in my 4th week of being stuck in bed sick, so I am so sorry for this slow reply. I just wanted to say thanks so much for watching the video and for taking the extra time to leave a comment. All the best. Daz.
Absolutely brilliant video!! Im a visual learner and your diagrams were perfect for helping me understand. My new property has a fairly old raspberry bush, plus I just bought a baby one, you've given me all the information I need to feel confident in taking care of them both. Thank you!
G'day Jasmine. Oh that's fantastic! Thanks very much for your kind words. Don't forget that although you have an older bush, you should see babies come up from the roots and you can dig them up and repot or replant elsewhere to create a new patch. Good luck and enjoy those delicious raspberries! Take care and all the best. Daz.
Thanks Daz! Loved the drawing explanation and the laughing kookaburra at the end - very Aussie! I am no longer confused about when I prune my Chilcottin Rasp plants. Cheers Shell
G'day Shell. Nice! Chilcottin are a very nice raspberry. I had them at my previous house and they fruit twice on the second year cane if I remember correctly. I hope yours do well, as there's nothing like picking them fresh. I occasionally try to bake with them, but they usually get eaten before I get the chance. YUM! All the best. Daz.
The grandparents had a wild black raspberry patch. All we ever did was like every three years after the berries were gone we would set fire to the patch to burn out all the dead wood. it was 50 feet by 50 feet.
G'day Linda. Oh, that would be great and I hope you do. What I love about them, is that they produce babies and you can dig them up and move them and start another patch. I hope you get some going and enjoy them as much as I do. All the best. Daz.
I messed up my raspberries 🤦🏽♀️ at the beginning of the year I thought the spikey steams were weeds , because they didn’t have berries on them like the others stems , so I pulled them out (except maybe 3) Anyways I realized after my first batch had been grown n eatin that the second batch of berries were actually from the batch I pulled out . 🤦🏽♀️😜 lesson learnt . Thanks for sharing ur knowledge .. keeping this video for next year .
G'day. That's a shame, but we all learn from our mistakes. That's for sure. I was out looking at my ones today and I wanted to tell them to hurry up. 🙄😁 Good luck with next season and enjoy. All the best, Daz.
G'day mate. Thanks very much for that. Yeah, I hope to make some if we don't eat them all first. So hard to put them aside and not eat them all. You'll have to get berries growing out on your property mate. Lots of room there. All the best. Daz.
G'day. I'm so sorry for the slow reply. I have not been well and have really falling behind with everything. My wife does not like them either, but she likes looking out the window and seeing them when they are ripe. I hope you have been well and taking care with all that is going on. All the best. Daz.
G'day LesleyAnn. Hey, one is better than none! 😁 No, but seriously, I wish you the best of luck and I really hope my video does have a part in you having more success. Picking your own fresh raspberries is just the best, especially when you see the prices of them in the supermarket. Good luck and enjoy! Daz.
G'day Dawn. I'm sorry for the slow reply. Have not been well and I am so behind on a lot of things. Oh I do hope you can get a berry patch happening, as it is a wonderful experience to pick and eat them. I'm actually planting in 7 new thornless blackberries today if I can find time. All the best and take care, Daz.
G'day Alex. I thought it was so funny that you came into chat when the pruning part was happening. You are a pruning expert! Thanks very much mate and take care. Daz.
G'day! So sorry for the slow reply. Have not been well and falling behind. Thanks very much and I hope you get a chance to get some and grow them yourself. Eating them freshly picked, really is a great experience. All the best, Daz.
G'day Lisa. I'm so sorry for the slow reply. Have not been well and have fallen behind on so much. Yes the ones from the shop do not store well here and they can be very pricey too, so that was why I made an effort to make sure we can grow as many as we can during the growing season. I hope you are well Lisa and thanks very much. Daz.
G'day 君はまだ新潟を知らないYou don't know Niigata yet. Thanks very much for being here and watching my video. I really do appreciate it. All the best and take care. Daz.
G'day Cathi. I was pretty upset at the corrupted file, as I could not go back and prune again after all this time, so I had to make do with the dodgy art work. 😁 It seemed to work out OK I think. Thanks so much as always Cathi. Take care, Daz.
I'm learning that this gardening gig is packed with problems as you've described in this video. My chillies are going well but too much water and not enough ventii In the poly tunnel had caused I think mold and root end rot. So I'm on it and have held back alot of seedlings from inside. But all in all the chillies, and tomatoes are going well I think. Cheers mate.😎👍
G'day Karene. Oh I have not been well and I am now even more behind. I up still up at almost 6am, just replying to comments.😥 If Lishana can wait, she will see me make the next lot of fresh raspberries disappear very quickly. 😁 I hope you are all well and take care. Daz.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen I'm sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well Daz. 😣 Hope you feel better soon. 💛 Please try to get some rest and take care of yourself. Lishana will be willing to wait to see a cool trick like that. 😂😂😂
Thanks for this mate! Helps a lot and now just waiting for autumn to see if the rasperberries I got are everbearing or summer bearing. Also seems like the stakes I did need to be taller. Need to raid someone's bamboo again. Haha
G'day! You are very welcome and good luck with those raspberries. I hope you get to be picking some of your own and enjoying them as much as I do. All the best. Daz.
G'day guys. Have not been well, so sorry for the slow reply. Thanks guys and looking forward to seeing you getting stuff growing there. All the best, Daz.
G'day. I am so sorry for the slow reply, but I have been unwell and trying to catch up. Thanks so much for watching and for leaving such a nice comment. All the best. Daz.
Good morning DAZ. I like the way you edit the video, I learn a lot from you , how to speak English and how to presentation. It is more understand in it. LOL...Yes the fantastic that you draw the Raspberries. Yes, same as here, the sun is very bright, out door plants , I have cover clothes to protect them from the sun. Might I should try to grow grape first, cause raspberries, I still not hear that have Thai people doing the Raspberries farm. Thank you good informative how to grow RASBERRIES
Sawadee krap Bow. Oh, you are so kind my friend. 💚 I also learn a lot from you with your growing and cooking. Grapes sound good. I have 3 baby grape plants here that I am going to plant because I have the bright sun here. Hopefully you can grow grapes too Bow. Kap khun krap. Daz.
Fax thank you so Much for an excellent video. Reading other comments I am sorry you have PTSD and Agoraphobia but hope you are getting help from professionals and able to look forward to visiting my favourite store Bunnings in the future I’m the opposite my hubby hates taking me there much better if I go solo. Take care.
G'day! Thanks so much for your kind words. Yes, I am seeing professionals and working on recovery, but it's taking forever. Yes, very much looking forward to the day I can go and lose time in Bunnings again, but no wife. 😁 Thanks again. Daz.
Thank you for your upload and for all this great Aussie-centric information! One thing I was hoping you'd cover was how to plant or care for raspberry plants you've been given or bought from bunnings. I bought one and it's all staked up and I'm not entirely sure whether I should be undoing the ties and planting it or planting it still tied to the stake. Additionally, is there an easy way to tell what type of raspberry you have if it didnt have a label/didn't say? Summer or autumn bearing I mean? And I think you touched on it but with the autumn bearing - if you pick the fruit in summer does that mean you won't get much in the autumn? Thank you so much for all of your helpful info. I hope you feel great giving back to the community 🙂
G'day again. I am sorry for these late replies. This is the first time I am reading this one. Sorry. If I read correctly, I'd recommend planting the potted plant into a bigger pot or raised bed now, as this is the time of year that all raspberry plants will try to spread roots and grow. They can spread and be a little invasive, so I always have mine in containers and raised beds. I initially had one tied to a stake, but over time they will produce a lot more canes and I find it easier to have string across the bed, about 4 foot high and let canes rest on them. I think the best way to know if it is Autumn or Summer is to see when the fruit grows heavier on those second year canes. With Autumn bearing... They will grow most fruit in Autumn and if not cut back, they will grow a smaller amount in Summer. I prefer to cut them back in Winter myself and just focus on the fruit from those then. I have Summer bearing varieties for my Spring and Summer needs. I also cut them back in Winter. ONLY cut the canes that had fruit as MOST varieties set fruit on the second year cane. I hope I made sense and good luck! All the best. Daz.
G'day Nicole. Oh, yes, you must if you guys enjoy eating them. It is amazing going out on a sunny day and eating them fresh off the cane. Absolutely love it! Yes, that shade cloth was a real game changer for me here. All the best to you my friend. Daz.
G'day. I am really sorry for the slow reply. Have not been well and have fallen behind on quite a bit here. Thanks so much for the kind words. Much appreciated. I hope all is well. Daz.
G'day Gerowyn. Sorry for the sow reply. I have not been well and have fallen behind badly on some things. I think they may set roots from bending the tips down into the dirt, but I have not tried it personally. I have had success in using cuttings from the thick, brown canes dipped in rooting hormone. That was a really, really long time ago and I think I may have buried at least one bud too back then. This is years ago now. Since then, I have just dug up the babies that pop up from the roots and move them to new pots or beds. Take care. Daz.
G'day! Oh wow, that is an amazing compliment. I've have been watching the show for decades now. I'm so glad my video has helped and thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave such high praise. All the best. Daz.
Great video my Aussie friend. I learn do much from you my friend. Love from America. I've been on holiday the past week. Done some dumpster diving tonight. Take care my friend.
Love the video!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of how you do this. I would really love to get some berries on the farm here. And your Diagram is on point- That’s how I learn best. Thanks!!
G'day. The diagram came about because I had a corrupted file of the pruning. The video in this is a combination of stuff over a long time, so I could not go back and prune again. I'm glad it happened in a way, as I think I will use diagrams more in future. It's certainly something I would have appreciated when watching so many how to videos. Had a great time dropping links and encouraging people in your chat today. Great job as always. Take care. Daz.
G'day Our Paranormal World. Thanks very much for being here and watching my video. I really do appreciate it. Cannot wait for them to grow this season. it is just the best picking them fresh. All the best and take care. Daz.
G'day Cindy. Thanks so much for the kind words. That was really nice of you and I do appreciate it. Comments such as your really do keep me motivated to get out there and give it a go. I hope you are well and that your garden is going OK. I would imagine that it is starting to cool down for you now, or am I mistaken? All the best to you Cindy. Daz.
Great video! does this technique apply to other berries? Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love to you and your family. ❤✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless ❤✝🤗
G'day Cynthia. Blueberries are different and a bit fussy with their soil and do benefit from a prune, but no more than 30% at a time. Strawberries, send out runners, so you can take them and create new plants once they establish. No real pruning. Just cutting the thin connection between the runner and the mother plant. Blackberries can be treated similar to the Summer bearing Raspberries, as they grow canes this year and fruit on them next year. You then cut away those after they have fruited and leave the new ones that have popped up for next year. I hope all that makes sense. Take care my friend and best wishes to you all. Daz.
G'day. I hope this helps you and you can enjoy them. I think you are in Pakistan, so hopefully watering and maybe some partial shade will help. Good luck my friend! Daz.
G'day. I free range my chickens and use bird netting or chicken wire to protect stuff, but the goats would make things interesting. Oh, how much I would love to freeze dry my fruit and berries. Especially raspberries. I hope you get some out front, as it's great picking your own berries and fruit. Thanks and take care guys, Daz.
Daz, I loooooved this! Your timing is amazing bc I have been studying up on berries the last couple of months. I have experience with fruit trees, but little experience with berries. I'm really liking what I'm hearing about berries and want to try my hand at them. I loved the thorough explanation. I needed the visual. Good job. Thanks! -Dawn
G'day Dawn. Oh, that is great and you have the space there for a huge amount of berries and I hope you give it a go. One thing I love doing is going out and picking them fresh and tossing some to my chooks. The girls always come over when I am at the raspberry beds as they are quite used to snacking on fresh berries now. 😁 I'm actually in the process of adding chicken wire to the sides as the girls jump up into those beds now and one of them has started laying eggs in the mulch. It's nice, but she's damaging the young raspberry plants in the process. Thanks very much Dawn and take care. Daz.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen That's neat! Our girls love fresh fruit too. How funny about her getting in the raised beds... but not so funny too bc they can be destructive when they see a food source. 😆 I hope I succeed at growing them. Time will tell. Thx Daz!!
G'day Jenn. I cannot wait until they all grow and ripen again. We had so many last season and it was so good to eat them fresh and bake with them. Yes, true about Autumn. I find it hard at times when making a video, as I need to try to remember to say things that a lot of people will understand. Thanks as always for watching and for your kind words. All the best, Daz.
G'day LeAnne. Hah, hah, hah.... Nice one! 😁 Congrats on your success on RUclips Leanne. I am so happy for you and I'm glad I found you before you are a huge star and don't have time for us small people. 😁 Seriously though... Good on you! All the best. Daz.
G'day mate. I'm so sorry for the slow reply here. Have not been well and have fallen behind on so much. Yeah, nothing like a fresh raspberry and it's great growing them as they can be very pricey over here. Thanks very much for being here mate. All the best, Daz.
G'day Annette. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such awesome feedback. It really has made my day. My hope is to help people to understand the process a little better and enjoy delicious berries ever year like we do. I really do appreciate you watching and leaving wonderful feedback Annette. All the best and take care. Daz.
Thanks for the diagrams Daz, helped me figure out what mine are, i think i have one pot of each. Good tip about shade cloth, i notice mine struggling last summer. I am getting some flowers forming on my autumn ones now, really looking forward to the yellow raspberries next summer
G'day mate. Sorry for the delayed message. Have been struggling a bit. Yes, the shade cloth did wonders for me. massive change for the better. I would love to have different coloured ones here. Especially the yellow. Have you eaten them before and is there much difference to the standard ones, if you have? All the best mate. Daz.
G'day mate. I'm so sorry for the slow reply. Have not been well and have fallen behind on so much. Oh, yes you must mate. You have the room and I am sure you have the climate for them. Greta to see you here mate and I hope you have been well. Daz.
This is very educative video..I have never known that raspberries can be used to cook.i have never tried them here in kenya not sure if they can do well.thanksfor all the tips
G'day my friend. Very sorry for taking a long time to reply. I have not been well. Yes, I like to use them when baking muffins and they make a nice, sweet sauce too. I think they would grow in Kenya as they like the heat, but they would need some shade and water. All the best and take care. Daz.
This was our first year in having some black berries so I'm really ready for next year to get here. Not many raspberries in my part of the country. I saw your comments on my channel so I've come over to join you. Looking forward to hearing more of your knowledge. Take car and have a blessed weekend Daz.
G'day. Oh, thank you. That is great about the Blackberries. Do you have many and are they wild or do you have a dedicated bed of them? I have thornless blackberries here. I took a cutting from the mother plant and now have a second plant in my orchard. A few moths ago I took cuttings from that one and now have 7 small plants that I am about to plant out in a dedicated bed. Very excited as they are fantastic berries. Good luck with your and all the best, Daz.
G'day mate. Nice! Well about the berries anyway, not so much the thorns. I'm just about to plant in 7 thornless blackberries that I propagated here. Hope to get some off the 2 plants I have here already, this season. All the best. Daz.
Hey thanks so much for the raspberry video! My question is I have new plants coming up around my everbearing plants do you cut those down also in the winter? Just found you and can’t wait to watch your videos! Blessings
G'day there. I am so sorry for the slow reply, but have been away most of the day for medical appointments. Do you mind me asking your basic geographic location? I am assuming you are in Fall/Autumn, just going by your question. If I understood you correctly, I would personally cut everything down to ground level a month into Winter on an ever bearing plant. This is just so I get all new growth with similar height and ripening times in that spot. I don't think it would be the end of the World if you did leave the babies growing, but I would imagine that as they get bigger, that are going to take away nutrients and water from the main ones that will be trying to grow after you do your cut back of the main everbearing patch. I hope that makes sense and thanks very much for getting in touch. Please feel free to do so at any time. All he best, Daz.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen I am in the middle of the United States and yes we are in fall! Great to know and I appreciate you answering me back so much! I am still trying to grow my patch right now I only have 1 plant I planted last year this year it has grown to a larger patch so I am still looking to get more plants growing! When do you typically fertilize? Prayers you are doing okay! Thanks Tracy
G'day ChaCha. All good. I caught you on Errin's live for a little bit. RUclips unsubbed me from you too. Just noticed earlier today as I am sure I was one of the first who did. All the best, Daz.
G'day! Ah! I'm not sure if I mentioned names in the video now, as it's been so long since I recorded it. Some of the varieties I have here are... Autumn Bliss that mainly fruit in Autumn. Heritage that mainly fruit in Autumn. Summer Delight that only fruit in Summer. Chilcoltin that can fruit twice in Summer. The 2 Autumn varieties can give a small crop in Summer if left to grow, but I prefer to cut them to the ground in Winter like my Summer varieties that have also fruited. Only cut the canes that gave fruit. I hope that helps and thanks so much for watching. Daz.
G'day Helena. All 3 beads have a blend of orange, sandy soil from my yard and that has been mixed with compost that I make here all year round. I am on Australia's biggest inland island, so it is a real sandy loam here. I used the sandy soil as it's good for drainage and the compost gives that beautiful organic matter for the roots and new growth. Thanks so much for watching and please feel free to contact me any time. All the best and take care, Daz.
G'day Annette. Oh I am sorry to hear that and I hope you are doing better now. I do appreciate you making time to came and watch later though. Thank you! All the best and please take care. Daz.
@@MyAussieGardenKitchen Thanks Daz, I am feeling a bit better, I have alot on my mind at the moment with trying to set up a homebased business, trying to grow my channel, working out a savings plan to hopefully make my dream come true to have a cottage in the country. It's all a bit overwhelming
G'day mate. Thanks so much for being there at the premiere. I apologise if I did not say G'day, but I got so overwhelmed with trying to keep up in the live chat. I did see you early and I did appreciate it. Thank you! All the best, Daz.
Hi Daz, I know you probably don't want to disclose your exact location as to where you live. Was hoping you would give out a approximate location of where you are. I live on the Fraser Coast Region, QLD.
G'day. I have only seen this now and I am so sorry for the very late reply. I'm in Northern Victoria. Just minutes from the Murray River (border). Typically very hot, dry Summers and very solid frosts through the colder times. Wow, you live in a wonderful part of the country. Some amazing places to visit up there. All the best, Daz.
G'day. I have found that hanging strips of aluminum foil has distracted birds and rodents and possums have not touched mine really, but I did dust chili powder on the mulch and leaves once when something started eating them at night and that stopped straight away. Good luck with your raspberries and I hope you get to enjoy them more that the wildlife. All the best. Daz.
This is the 2nd time I've watched your video. This time I'm saving it so I don't lose it. I'm a beginner in Melb and I bought my ever-bearing raspberry in the summer from Bunnings. Now that we're in autumn I need to tidy it up, so I'm looking again for help! Thank you so much for the advice AND your little diagrams, they help a lot for people like me who need some visual help as well!

Hi, I’m going to be growing red raspberries and black berries in pots. I’ve read that it’s not a good idea to plant together due to diseases that can kill each other. If I plant them together in the same garden bed but in different pots will they be fine?
G'day! I must say that I am not 100% sure, but I do think that you are definitely minimizing the risk of infection by soil by having the 2 separate pots. Water flow from under one pot to the base of the other could be a small risk to consider. Another risk to consider is that aphids can move a disease from the red to the black, if the plants are close together. Personally, I would not have them in the same bed and if that was my only choice, I'd have them as far apart as possible. I hope this helps and certainly see if there is more information out there. Good luck, Daz.
G'day. If you prune the Everbearing variety to the ground in late Winter/early Spring, this will give you the main crop in Fall. After that fruit has been picked, you can prune the tops off all the canes, leaving the section with leaves and that should give a smaller crop in Summer. A lot of people will not do this as it is not worth the effort. Some people such as myself will grow a summer variety as well and not too close to limit diseases affecting all plants if something should occur. I hope this helps and all the best of luck! Daz.
G'day. I'm in northern Victoria and not familiar with the Queensland growing conditions for raspberries. What I can tell you, is that I moved from a cool part of Victoria and they thrived, but when I moved up close to the NSW border, they suffered with the hot sun and all varieties would burn (leaves go brown and dry). Protecting them with shade cloth made a huge difference. I recommend seeing if they are sold at local nurseries to you and talking to staff about the growing conditions and if you do get some, also consider shade cloth to help with the direct QLD sun. I hope this helps and good luck. Daz.
All the best,
Daz.
Of all the videos I've watched this is BY FAR this most simple, understandable, and strait forward. Thank you berry 🫐 much! 😋
G'day!
I see what you did there and you are "berry" welcome. 😁

I messed up my raspberries 🤦🏽♀️ at the beginning of the year I thought the spikey steams were weeds , because they didn’t have berries on them like the others stems , so I pulled them out (except maybe 3)
Anyways I realized after my first batch had been grown n eatin that the second batch of berries were actually from the batch I pulled out . 🤦🏽♀️😜 lesson learnt .
Thanks for sharing ur knowledge .. keeping this video for next year .

Daz.

The next question is propagating, which canes can you use for propagating... great video Daz 🥰 Blessings Gerowyn
Take care.

Daz.

@@MyAussieGardenKitchen That's neat! Our girls love fresh fruit too. How funny about her getting in the raised beds... but not so funny too bc they can be destructive when they see a food source. 😆 I hope I succeed at growing them. Time will tell. Thx Daz!!

Raspberries, yum. My absolute favorite fruit. Excellent video. P.S some of us say autumn 😉😊😘😋

I enjoyed this video Daz with my cheeseburger soup…

I'm so sorry for the slow reply here.
Have not been well and have fallen behind on so much.
Yeah, nothing like a fresh raspberry and it's great growing them as they can be very pricey over here.
Thanks very much for being here mate.

Np at all and hope you get to feeling better yeah there kinda pricey over here as well I need to get me some to grow and see how they come out

This is very educative video..I have never known that raspberries can be used to cook.i have never tried them here in kenya not sure if they can do well.thanksfor all the tips
G'day my friend.
Very sorry for taking a long time to reply.
I have not been well.
Yes, I like to use them when baking muffins and they make a nice, sweet sauce too.
I think they would grow in Kenya as they like the heat, but they would need some shade and water.

Good luck with your and all the best,

All he best,
Daz.

Thank you for such great video full of information. Can ypu pls name few varietis of both types at least to know once we buying them?
G'day!
Daz.
Very nice
Selamat pagi Kaito official
I love raspberries!
Terima kasih telah menonton.
Daz.
It was a great video, thanks! What kind of soil do you use for the raspberries?
G'day Helena.
All 3 beads have a blend of orange, sandy soil from my yard and that has been mixed with compost that I make here all year round.
I am on Australia's biggest inland island, so it is a real sandy loam here.
I used the sandy soil as it's good for drainage and the compost gives that beautiful organic matter for the roots and new growth.
Thanks so much for watching and please feel free to contact me any time.

Daz.

@@MyAussieGardenKitchen hey Daz 👋. It's a good thing when you have a lot of people on your live! Nice work 👏
Hi Daz, I know you probably don't want to disclose your exact location as to where you live.
All the best,
Daz.
Awesome video
We desperately need beds for my berries after we moved the wire house. They are currently fruiting in a big pile!
A pile of berries sounds great! But yes, dedicated beds are great for managing them. 😊
All the best.
Daz.
Any advice on keeping out rats/birds,possums?

This is the 2nd time I've watched your video. This time I'm saving it so I don't lose it. I'm a beginner in Melb and I bought my ever-bearing raspberry in the summer from Bunnings.
Good luck,
Daz.
If I plant the everbearing and I prune it to the ground will it still have a summer AND fall crop?
Daz.
Where are you based in Australia? Do your raspberries grow well in Brisbane?
Daz.
