  • 🌿 Are your elephant ears ready to hibernate? 🐘✨
As the seasons change, it’s time to think about how to protect your beautiful plants for the upcoming winter. These tropical beauties deserve a little extra love to thrive again next year! 🌱
Here are a few tips to ensure your elephant ears make a successful comeback:
    1. **Dig Them Up & Cut Back**: Carefully remove the tubers from the ground before the first frost. Trim the leaves to about 6 inches above the tuber.
    2. **Clean and Dry**: Wash off any soil and let them dry in a cool, shaded area.
    3. **Store Properly**: Place them in a breathable bag or container with peat moss or pine chips.
    4. **Keep an Eye**: Check periodically for any signs of rot during storage.
Your elephant ears will thank you next spring! 🌸

I would really like more info on how you store them? If you are able to share that. I got how to get them up from your video. But now I'm not sure the exact process of storing them thru the winter. I'm in Texas. I have several. We should have our first frost in the next couple weeks. Would love to save them if I can.

Hi there! Great harvest Ms homesteader! Wonder if you could put some of the leaves in a pot of water inside to enjoy a bit longer? I’m a bit lucky I can keep mine in the ground thru the winter here in Northern California. Had fun time in your garden with the enthusiastic puppy’s wanting you to throw that darn blue ball😂 I’ll be back!

I could have put one of those leaves in water! Not sure why I didn’t think of that?? I sometimes wish I lived in warmer climates, so many more fun things to grow! But I do love Michigan. It’s a give and take. Thanks for watching!!
