The original five MTV VJs should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Agree 💯
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to watch the Top Gun movie and to listen to Tom Cruise “ I feel the need the need for speed.” MTV started in 1981 they will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2081.
One of the best interviews on this channel! Now it's time to get Allan, Martha, and Nina! That would be amazing to have interviews with all 4 surviving VJs. Rest in peace, JJ.
Thank you, I was proud of this one and you never know it’s a possibility. I also met and spoke with Alan a bit on that cruise
I've always liked Mark he's a funny, real, and a cool guy in general, what a GREAT INTERVIEW to have,Great work Jason
Thank you
Excellent interview! Kurt Loder was the beginning of the end. He loathed rock n rollers. You always felt like he was looking down his nose at most artists. I spent so much of my Youth watching MTV. Thanks Mark for doin what you love!
Was cool seeing Mark on here, I grew up watching him & the other originals any chance I could.
So basically it's Kurt Loder's fault Mark left, never liked Kurt or Tabitha Soren, they always gave a "we're way too smart for MTV & everyone should be lucky we're on here" vibe.
Wish you would have asked him about Van Halen and David Lee Roth interview at US Fest
Fantastic interview, I remember living on Long Island with no mtv, and moving to New Jersey and boom! Theres my mtv!
class guy and very down to earth
You were right!!! A banger of an interview 👏👏👏👏
Very cool, ...I was there in 1981. Great to hear the stories.
I’m glad you enjoyed it and awesome you were there
Man, just hearing his distinctive voice gives me the warm fuzzies!
Right?
Jason, this interview was very informative and fun to watch. I’ve always enjoyed hearing stories from the VJs who made MTV possible during the early years. I was born in 1987, but I still very much enjoy watching hours of the ‘80s video blocks on MTV Classic. It’s a shame that many from younger generations don’t know that MTV used to play music videos and have cool personalities to intro the artists.
Great interview, Jason….took me back to my Teens!
Thanks John, I’m glad you enjoyed it
Great Job Jason!...Yes, Mark, and the other VJs, were the cornerstone of my teenage years. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Since I don't hold the Music hall of fame in very high regard, I wouldn't oppose it, but considering how they choose who should and shouldn't be enshrined who knows if they ever will be. Would be sad if they did get in without JJ however...Thanks again, Jason...Paul
Great job Jason. Mark was a really interesting guest and seems like a great guy
Thank you, he was very cool and I was proud of this interview
Great interview!! Always loved Mark Goodman...great radio voice and so musically informed. Great stories too. Such a funny guy!! Thank you for posting this vidio Jason. ❤
Great interview Jason! If you close your eyes, Mark Goodman still sounds the same like he did 40 years ago on MTV. I'm glad you brought up that question about Bowie.
I can see why he didn't want to answer the Bowie question because he gave a bad answer back then that basically people were scared to see black musical artists on TV..,.. He's a pretty PC guy so he's not going to get himself into any hot water ruffling feathers 40 plus years later....
Damn good to see and hear Mark Goodmans voice again. The Lennon story that MG talked about was pretty moving. Great interview, Jason.
mark fudging his age a little bit he was 13 in 1963 not single digits 🤣 mark is legend grew up watching him was lucky that here on long island we had mtv from day it signed on. favorite moment with the v j s was the billy squier xmas video featuring all the v j s and mtv staff for the song xmas is the time to say i love you
Loved the interview, Jason! Such a fantastic time!
Jason, you're a great interviewer! I'm enjoying all your content! Thank you!!!
That’s nice of you to say, I was proud of this one
I remember that day well and I was 12 years old and then Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider started hosting metal Mania
The 90’s blew
Awesome Interview Jason. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you Georgia, I’m glad you enjoyed it
Wish we could have heard some of Mark's Hair band stories. Limited time, I guess.
He wasn’t really a hair band fan, didn’t like kiss and was gone in 87 when those bands started to really take over mtv
What a humble dude! Really great interview! You know you're famous when Sir Paul McCartney makes your dinner reservation!
Thanks, yes pretty crazy!
Thank you so much for this interview Jason me and my wife really enjoyed it!! Mark is such a great guy 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
Great interview. Mark was always my favorite VJ.

Note to self: don’t ask Mark Goodman about David Bowie.
