- Let's go over the process of installing paint protection film on the hood of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. The technique I use in the video is called a 4 corner tack. This technique allow one person to install the PPF by themselves. After going over this process we'll go over the rest of this install and a few things that are specific to this model Porsche.

Paint Protection Film material - The material (PPF) used in this video is NexGen by PremiumShield, which is now owned by Eastman. The material itself is going away at some point in 2023. So, we'll be switching over to an Eastman brand or be on the hunt for a new brand.

My name is Brent and I have been an automotive window tinter since 1998 and have been installing paint protection film since 2004. In 1998 I took a 5 day class to learn the basics of window tinting. Then I started tinting cars and learning as I went. In 2004 I bought a roll of paint protection film (clear bra by 3m) and taught myself how to install it. Nice work, I’m realizing there’s a lot more ways to install PPF. I’ve installed PPF on hoods and normally place it then squeegee from the middle outwards. I push to put tension on it if I need to but this method makes sense since it puts tension on the whole area at once instead of some areas. 👍🏽
I’m curious do you prefer working with stencils or sheets?
It's definitely interesting to see the different ways people install PPF. My installs are ever-changing. If I hear or see something I like, I adjust my installs to utilize the new technique. Your method sounds interesting. If you ever find a video of someone installing a hood as you do, please share it with me. 👍🏻 I like both bulking and installing kits. I think a mix of the two makes for the best install. Some of these kits have amazing coverage and help save time and trimming on the paint. I almost always bulk hoods and parts that I feel need fewer seams or the computer program doesn't offer in one piece. Like Tesla hatches and trunks, I bulk in one piece.
