Conan’s backdrop here debuted before 9/11 and briefly included the Twin Towers, (then they were obviously removed). After watching Late Night from the very beginning, I felt like this backdrop drastically changed the look and feel of the show….it made it feel more ‘spacious’, and the lighting is def. ‘brighter’. Such a contrast from the look of the 1993-2000 episodes. Plus, High Definition TV was ‘new’ at this time, so people were seeing Conan in HD for the first time…which I’m sure helped contribute to the different look & feel of the show.

Rob Zombie is soooo underrated. If he ran for a government office, I'd make sure he won. He's so vastly kind and intelligent compared to anyone in office in the capital. For real.
Nah he had his time in the early to mid 90s with music then he had 2 or 3 movies that were ok. Anything musically after White Zombie and Hellbilly Deluxe sucks. House, Rejects, and Halloween were the only movies he made that were good.

At one particularly weird point in my life (a mere two years ago) - I worked the traveling carnival circuit across four states. ROB IS IN NO WAY EXAGGERATING THE ENVIRONMENT. Most of the employees had felonious histories - and alcohol and hard drugs like heroin and methamphetamine flowed like water. I’d feel safer taking my kids to a rattlesnake petting zoo, to be entirely honest. Much safer, in my opinion.
Don't forget the scam carnival games that make a guy spend his life savings on a giant stuffed panda made in china by a four year old in a sweat shop for pennies
@@Jason0binladen You are exactly right. At one point during my stay there - I almost considered creating a RUclips video that would reveal HOW THOSE GAMES HUSTLE THE UNWITTING PAYING CUSTOMER. Hopefully someone has done that already. Suffice it to say - the odds are heavily stacked against the consumer. In the end - the "prizes" aren't worth the price payed to play the game. Remember: Game = scam.
@@UpsonPrattJr. Great question! Although I managed to survive ALIVE following the untimely dissolution of my marriage - the associated trauma DID shatter me somewhat. The drastic change - as utterly insane as it was - gave me time to rethink and reevaluate. Christ, I grew up with a framed "Zappa Crappa" (without title or name on it) poster in my parent's en suite bathroom and never knew who that guy was - as a child I had seen photos of my dad from the 70s and he looked kinda like "that guy on the toilet" but also my dad looked like "those pictures in the basement" (other black and whites of bands/band members from the 70s). It wasn't until my early teens that I asked about what I now know is the "Zappa Crappa" and my dad laughed hysterically and told me all about Frank Zappa and played some records for me. Not my taste haha. He raised me well on Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, etc. To put in context...most of the displayed artwork in our house growing up was not of that type - mostly it was museum art type of stuff haha. The en suite bathroom and the basement (which is and always has been my dad's "space" and is now is drum room) was always a confusing place to be as an uninformed child.

@@therebex23 this backdrop is from 2001. Only thing different is the twin towers were removed. But good on you for not knowing how to read, and feeling the need to comment on a comment about backdrops

Wow, HDTV (and lighting) makes it look totally different yet even the furniture is the same from 2001, I couldn't believe that was the same couch in both videos, lol. It's amazing how it made the set look so different.
You made me wonder of how many other shows we now perceive so differently just because they transitioned to HDTV.
@@MorwenWhyte yeah, it really changed a lot of people’s perception, we had never seen anything so clearly on TV before. The wide 16x9 format adds a lot too, compared to the old 4:3 standard
Yet Rob Zombie created Captain Spaulding, the best clown ever.
Best pathetic clown. Dude sold chicken in a gas station lol
YEESSSSS!!!! The best is the dream when he is having sex with (his mistress?) and he dreams it's his wife who then blows his head off. He wakes up and she say's "did you have a bad dream?". He reply's, "50/50" . . .LOL!
But could anyone else have played Captain Spaulding and do a better job than Sid Haig R.I.P.
Unironically enough, I was always spooked my clowns but Captain Spaulding didn't give me the heebie jeebies.
And inspired by on of Groucho Marxs' characters.
"This freak with the red hair that's going like this.' LOL!!
Conan is just amazing. He knows that he need a different aproach to an interview like this, and he needs to make those detaileds questions.
Devil's rejects, best soundtrack ever and not many movies have scenes as comparatively dark, cheers
"You're on the right show"
And THIS is why we TEAMCOCO

I'm lovin' it.
Wow I'm here to just grift off the success of this.

Who's this Brandon guy ? Com'on man !
That guy knows how to make a horror flick, that’s for sure. Love those old B horror flicks, glad he resurrected the genre.
What a well-spoken and interesting guy RZ is. Humble too.
The ending was perfect
That was entertaining as hell, how did I not know how good Rob was on talkshows
Can’t wait to see his take on The Munsters!!! The set photos look incredible
Considering how sub par his former movies are I can only guess it will be no better. I'm guessing he is casting his talentless wife in some important role again as well.
It will suc Sherri is in it
Bro is fidgeting like crazy😂 I’m the same
I love Rob Zombie!! He's so witty, smart, ahead of the game, and he knows how to shock!
Man, I love Rob Zombie's music (not much a fan of his movies) but with this clip I feel he could be a terrific stand up comedy. Almost everything he said was quite funny.
I think this is just his own reality. I don’t think he was really telling jokes. This is what makes him unique
I want to like his movies, I really do… some elements are cool I guess…
I dont think he's in it for the laughs
His movies are better than his music, I love The Devil's Reject.
I'm the opposite. I like more of his movies than I like of his songs
That last dig he got in on Conan was hilarious 🤣
his voice says chill, his movement says otherwise, its giving me anxiety...
he's touching the bottom of his shoe and after that his face. incredible
He can't sit still , like if he's burning for a fix of something 💉
@@killerkiller8523 Its called anxiety
also calling clowns dirty when it looks like he hasn't washed his hair in weeks
All rock stars are nervous messes deep down. They act out confidence on stage.
"When I say carnival I don't mean the cruise liner." 🤣🤣🤣
when rob said running the crank when he was talking about a dude on meth is funny
As someone with a phobia of clowns I always thought Rob loved them this is a relief
@@cathair9295 yeah you oooz confidence with your no profile pic and unsolicited hate 😂
It sometimes scares me how I can relate to Rob Zombie when he talks about his childhood
bcuz everyone has trauma and if they say they don't then don't trust them
I currently live in Los Angeles but like rob zombie I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts where I didn’t have many friends and I couldn’t relate to people. Movies and tv shows were my escape
Also like Rob Zombie I would get the TV guide and circle everything I was going to watch.
Wow. This is the first interview I've ever seen of Rob. I had NO IDEA he was so funny!
Same. And he seems so much smaller than I pictured him.
@@karekorn78 to be fair Conan is very tall. I think Rob is average height but looks small next to Conan
this little 5 minute clip made me laugh more than most comedy movies put out in the last decade. love rob. especially at the end when he was telling his clown story. "this big freak with red hair" and conan hilariously immediately takes offense lmao. conan was the best talk show host.
He is so high in this interview. 😂
He was traumatized by a clown when he was a little kid; of course he fears/hates them.
no get it right it started from the babysitter
You can just tell this is the type of guy you’d have a good time with ANYWHERE.
Sometimes I lay in bed and think about how I could’ve lived my life as a potato chip
I'm literally doing the same thing rather than sleeping and it is exhilarating. I should honestly do this more often!
With or without dip
Lol
Rob Zombie is soooo underrated. If he ran for a government office, I'd make sure he won. He's so vastly kind and intelligent compared to anyone in office in the capital. For real.
How is he underrated? And what, other than being nice, qualifies him for office?
My 1 vote would make sure of it 🤣
In what way? Because he can have a conversation?
Nah he had his time in the early to mid 90s with music then he had 2 or 3 movies that were ok. Anything musically after White Zombie and Hellbilly Deluxe sucks. House, Rejects, and Halloween were the only movies he made that were good.
i love his simplicity and the fact how i can relate, how i watch so much tv w
hen tv was actually great mid 80s to mid 90s.
Conan referring to the "Tilt-a-Whirl" as a "giant centrifugal machine" is the most Conan thing ever.
He's be an amazing guest for the podcast and he has The Munsters in production to promote as well. Win/win.
It's statistically harder for a clown to get into a clown college than it is for a clown college to get into a clown
Protip: Astroglide and alcohol ease the process.
Clowns get in clown colleges all the time...
Really? I thought that'd be one of the first things they teach.
Unless the clowns butt hole is made of elastic. 🤡
Try pot lol ...
this lady told me one day at the gas station my mom used to work at. she said my son is scared of everybody. except you Roger he thinks your Rob Zombie. he flips out Everytime saying hey look mom it's Rob Zombie. years ago I made it backstage at a Ozzy show in Chicago. I missed my chance of meeting Rob. he is one of those famous ppl I wish I could meet someday. back in the day white zombie was one of my favorite bands. still is matter of fact
Don't you have to be on drugs and a little unhinged to work in that field? No offense or anything.
@@UpsonPrattJr. Great question! Although I managed to survive ALIVE following the untimely dissolution of my marriage - the associated trauma DID shatter me somewhat. Some experts call my semi-instinctive response to this travesty "fight or flight". Fighting (or flogging the proverbial dead horse) would only have been MORE counterproductive -- so I gathered together some vital necessities AND RAN. The drastic change - as utterly insane as it was - gave me time to rethink and reevaluate. FYI - mental/emotional instability and/or the abuse of illicit substances AREN'T required prerequisites for carnival employment -- however, they may be required for SOME of those persons who opt to make A CAREER out of it.
@@unbrokenandalive1089 That's a hell of an answer! Thanks.
Everyone should see him live in concert! Puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen
Here here. Best show I've EVER seen. Blew Metallica away. Takes over where Kiss left off. . . he puts on a fucking SHOW. Its not just an auditory spectacle, its a visual spectacle as well. Like alice cooper on steroids.
@@snap-off5383 100% agreed, Rob and Alice are a couple of the best live shows I’ve ever seen! Legends 🤘
I saw him and it was awful. He kept running around and was constantly out of breath and couldn't get through a single line properly.
Wow… Now that my folks is what social anxiety looks like. God I love this man! Pure genius and artist at its finest!!!
Is he actually sitting there in bedazzled hip huggers? 😂
I saw him at Halloween Horror Nights on a red carpet night. It was cool to see how amazed he was at everything.
I’m really hoping that he comes to the Horror Convention this year.
Rob Zombie is almost 57 years old. That dude is aging really well.
Apparently this video is 16 years old - so he was like 40 at the time.

thank you all for clearifying rob has social anxiety. i was in fear that he was tweaked out but i realise after reading comments that my idea was wrong.
Dammit! Conan missed the soybeans in the Midwest joke! I laughed my ass off. Rob made a good joke there!
How someone with such bad social anxiety can be sucessful gives me hope. How tf does he get all he does accomplished?
As someone who suffers from sever social anxiety, I recognize the coping patterns and admire the man for doing this in the first place. You couldn't get me a mile from being on stage in front of people.
Such a lovely guy. He's like an open book...
I love Rob, he seems like the kibd of guy I would be happy to have a beer with. Thanks Rob for all your music and movies, they are great abd I appreciate you bro! ❤

Frank Zappa looks to be doing well these days
He really does look like Frank Zappa lol. I’ve been thinking that for the longest time
@@Mysteriuminiquitatis1998 separated at birth, RIP FZ
Not bad for someone that’s been dead for thirty years.
And frank loved monster movies. Brothers from other mothers for sure
In the clown’s defense they were probably sweating their make-up off in the heat standing outside! 🤣
"I wanted to be in air-conditioning all day." lmo coming rom a guy from Massachusetts 😂😂😂
Wish today’s late shows have more rock/metal band performances/interviews.
Yeah, Conan always had some great acts on. Not just bubble gum crap.
