Another great video! Not many people cover match three games though most people play them occasionally. I am fond of the Puzzle Quest series and have it on numerous systems in various form. That form of strategy from random drops is fun and maddening at the same time! Thanks Clemmy!😊
P.S. I loved the DS version of Might and Magic Clash of Heros! For some reason I never thought of it as a match 3 game but just strategy. Makes me want to dig it out and play it again!
What an excellent list. Match-3 games are my guilty pleasure, and you hit all the golden ones. Such a shame they took the Puzzle Quest formula and squeezed every last ounce of goodwill from the franchise by turning it into a MTC sinkhole (same with the Orcs Must Die franchise). Ironcast is my favorite game on the list. I love the blend of genres and hope someone treats the formula with more depth. Might and Magic Clash of Heroes: how the hell have they never followed up with a sequel? My roommates and I used to PVP that game for hours. Legend of Bumbo: Speaking of old roommates, one was the cousin of Edmund McMillen, who I met at a wedding. Kind of shy. (Now I'm just oversharing.) The two indie games I'd add to the list are Tower of Archeos and Cards & Crystals.
Cheers. Yeah F2P has been very bad for Match 3 genre. There's a rush seeing those cascading effect (mimicking a slot machine or something) which makes it ripe for exploitation (which they did). Some of these oldies are still the best! Also can't believe that there's no sequel to Ironcast, or why no one else has really tried a Match 3 rogue-lite!
Actually it was even on IGN when it first released. It picked up a lot of hype as a Switch game back in the day when the Switch was still so light on games. For a while there it was one of the games people listed as a reason for getting a Switch.
Woww thanks!! This is a genre not covered often! I think that there should be new match 3 games but they are scarce today, what do you think Clemmy? And thank you very much!!
I know many of these are technically Match 3 but I'm really not a fan of "create a line through as many gems as possible mechanic, they're more like "Match 3 but hope for at least 12 in later levels or you will get spanked". I could never figure out how to play Might and Magic Clash of Heroes. I borrowed a friend's DS copy to see if I would like it but I was just so lost. You left out one of my favourites from yesteryear. Gyromancer. It's hard on the unfair side sometimes, and it seems people aren't fans on Steam, but this is the only Match 3 I played as much as the Puzzle Quest series. And in my opinion the closest anyone has ever come to replicating the Challenge of the Warlords formula, closer even than Infinite Interactive's own other Puzzle Quest games (if it is rotate a block instead of switching out like Puzzle Quest). You need to get and play it if you haven't yet. Very not indie cuz Popcap and Squeenix but still.
Puzzle Quest and You Must Build a Boat will always have a special place. I recommend the Monster Hunter match-3. It was released in Japanese only, but it was very enjoyable!
@@ClemmyGames I believe it was called Monster Hunter: Otomon Drop, part of the MH: Stories universe. It was completely free and I had a good time with it. Give it a try if it's still available.
@@authormichellefranklin Is that on PC? I have not heard of it either, but like the Monster Hunter Stories series. In fact I'm looking forward to the coming one on Switch!
This time there were no games for me. 😤 Very nice!! I'll take a break because there are always games I like to buy and I don't want to buy anymore. Somebody help me!!! 🤣
Ironcast is ruined by its difficulty curve: the final fight is orders of magnitude harder than anything before it leaving you feeling OP, then completely outclassed.
I'm surprised, but glad, that Gems of War isn't on this list. They're up there with EA and are comparable to mobile monetization at it's worst at this point.
Exactly, a shame really but I guess since they are celebrating 6 years, there IS a market for it, though it may be exploitative and relying on "whales"

Played 10 and 4. Want to play 7, 6, & 1. Thank you for the recommendation.
Battle Chef looks so good, haven't heard of it anywhere but here.
Actually it was even on IGN when it first released. It picked up a lot of hype as a Switch game back in the day when the Switch was still so light on games. For a while there it was one of the games people listed as a reason for getting a Switch.
Woop woop! Happy to hear this, go check it out!
Don't miss out on that game. A lot of love was put into the game you can even tell while playing it. Too bad the game end so early(for me).
If you want more info then check out Yakkocmn’s video on the game. But trust me, just play it, it’s phenomenal
Bumbo looks pretty cool. Not into deck building stuff in games so I’m not too sure....it’s coming to the switch soon also.
Give it a go!
Ty for the info I'll try might and nagic
I had no idea that legend is a match 3. Looks good. I have a number of these games, but some are new to me. Thanks!
Yep, do check it out
Battle Chef Brigade is a must play, I regret not playing it before it is actually really fun
Agreed, help spread the word!
Woww thanks!! This is a genre not covered often! I think that there should be new match 3 games but they are scarce today, what do you think Clemmy? And thank you very much!!
There are quite a few on Steam and the Google Play Store. You can look for similarities to the type that you like.😊
I love this genre as well! Always on the look out for great new ones but alot of mobile crap in the space
@@ClemmyGames Totally agree with you!
Interesting list Clemmy!
Thanks, anything that you might want to pick up?
I don't have Steam, so i just watch out of curiosity
@@victorribeiro3355 Most of these are on other platforms like consoles and mobile as well!
I don't have next gen consoles as well, but i could get the mobile ones!
@@victorribeiro3355 Please do!
I love Match Land: Puzzle RPG (mobile), would love a well balanced version without microtransactions for pc
Oo I played this! Love the pixel art of course but the MTX and difficulty balanced got way too skewed a little bit into it.

At last, the content I needed. Cheers.

I used to love #3 Puzzle Craft (2)... for some reason it's no longer available on the Play Store (Germany)
Hmm strange...
The number one match-3 game in my heart is "The Treasure of Montezuma", and I also want to recommend this game to you😊
a classic
Very good choice !!! Only one game is missing "Ticket to Earth" plus my favorite "Puzzle Quest: Galactrix"
Match 3 rules!!
Galactrix?? Interesting pick

Next video then!
The Legend of Bum-Bo is underrated game.
Sure!
Ironcast is ruined by its difficulty curve: the final fight is orders of magnitude harder than anything before it leaving you feeling OP, then completely outclassed.
Sounds like FTL then :P
I couldn't agree more. It just becomes a grindfest which gets dull quickly. Otherwise it had so much going for it on all other fronts. Bit of a shame.
I should add Cards and Crystal which is a pretty good mix between match 3 and card game
Ah! I remember seeing this, have not checked it out myself, thanks!
@@ClemmyGames Well, I discovered it through one of your videos, Clem XD
@@julioagua :D
Beglitched looks cute, the world the next door is going to be free next thursday on epic so i might get it then.
Do pick both up!
A list of Top "Match 3 RPGS " would be welcome in 2025
M&M Clash of Heroes is AWESOOOOOMEEE!!! Happy to see it here!!
LOVE IT
The World Next Door is going to be free on Epic on the 19th November
Yeah! Just nice!

No love for HuniePop or Kotodama? Both have excellent mechanics (if a somewhat dubious premise)
Left the more provocative ones off the list
Oh man I remember triple town!!!
Also battle chefs animation is so freakin good
Double hell yeah!
Gems of war is the ultimate match-3 game
Check out "Last Resort Island", it's really a hidden gem of the genre with fresh twists.
Thanks for the recommendation
I discovered a new match 3 game called Critter Crush. So cute
Only a quick side-mention of Gems of War? Did you even play it? Should be on this list for sure.
It's more Puzzle Quest but the MTX doesn't sit well with me :/
@@ClemmyGames as with that mobile game on your list, you can perfectly play GoW without paying anything, a lot of people do so.
I like Playrix game (Gardenscapes and Fishdom). And, of course Flower Book)
I find mobile games too exploitatively though!
Had the nr 10 pick on the DS ;)
Love that game!
check out Idylls of the Lunar Maria
Also NR 8 is free on epic soon
Yep, do pick it up!
GRINDSTONE:*AM I A JOKE TO YOU!!!!!!!*
Missed that!
I have Flipon and it is cute...
Sure!
Ironcast is such a great game!
Hell yeah! Underrated!
How could not be in this list Mirror?
Tried to leave the more provocative titles off the list ;)
the legend of bumbo is game you'll play alot plus meme

Cheers Rick
Shame that Mirror is not on the list.
lol jk
XD Left those lewder ones off the list
srsly? -_-
