So many memories. Alot of people say Ghostbusters 2 is a bad sequal. I disagree, i think its very good and enjoyable. I have memories of my mom taking me to see this when i was 9 in 89 i believe.
Dude I’m from New York, and I never seen a movie make LA looks almost identical to NY. Blew my mind this scene was in LA. Especially on this scene. They had Con Edison down to a T!

Yes, people should realise that it is common for movies set in New York to have at least some scenes shot in LA.

Even when you lined up the interior shots in LA for Ghostbusters they still don't believe it?! Some people are so dumb, they probably think Total Recall was actually filmed on Mars.

Very sorry... but you got the wrong spot. The real location is about a half block away at the intersection of 8th And Los Angeles. (I originally made the same mistake, too.) The open lot is no longer around, but the building to the left of it (214 E 8th St) is still standing and looks the same. You might notice that the building to the left of the lot in your video is similar looking but windows don't quite match up with movie. Also, the reverse shot (best seen when lights go out) doesn't look right at your location, but is spot-on over at 772 S Los Angeles Street. Hope this helps if you are around LA again and want to do an update video. Cheers.

I actually knew most of Ghostbusters was filmed in LA, but I was surprised the first time I heard it. Several Hollywood movies that are set in NYC are mostly filmed in LA, End of Days is another one I know of.
its closing down public streets costs LA vs NYC that did this probably, I mean the amount of stuff in that scene to reinforce the fact its NY, yellow cab, nypd, ny times truck, etc... seems like enough studio cost to warrant actually just filming this on a NYC side street. Alot of the bigger set pieces in NY for ghostbusters are all public buildings therefore free to film on, library, plaza, museum, etc. interesting to think about
Well, there is always rice krispys. 😁 but ya, I didn’t know Ghostbusters II was filmed part in California. Even some movies, that i need to look up on what I’ve own, is neither filmed within parts of California. Same thing with Queen of the Damned, that the concert scene is filmed in Death Valley. Even though, it the from within the book, it did mention that it was supposed to be within a theater type placed and (spoilers for those who haven’t read the book) Jessie broke her neck within the concert scene and made into a vampire afterwards.
I think 1 of the firehouses from 1 or 2 is actually in l.a.??? Movie magic.
The firehouse exterior shots were in lower Manhattan NYC and the firehouse interiors were in a firehouse in LA. Both movies

I wouldn't say the people were wrong. Both Ghostbusters were shot in both NYC and LA. They even shot the interior shots of the Firehouse in a Similar Firehouse in LA.
I know I’m late to the party but they were playing this movie the other night - I forget which network. I’m watching this scene and I’m thinking to myself I bet they short this scene in LA. It looks too much like DTLA.

I love how you line up the shots to show the transition! Its common for movies to claim they take place somewhere other than where they were filmed. They used to call Toronto "Hollywood North"as many movies would film there , only to pretend it was New York City. Movie companies are lured to film in Canada through tax breaks and incentives.(Shameless local plug...The Haunting in Connecticut was filmed in Winnipeg ,Manitoba, and Virginia Madsen talks in interviews about staying in our famous haunted hotel The Fort Garry) Love your material!
