I grew up in the late 80's, and while I was aware of Gobots, I knew absolutely nothing about them. I even had a Rock Lords toy back in the day that was given to me by a friend. He simply gave to me because he thought that it was lame, but I had no idea what it was or what toy line it was from. Whenever I watch these clips it just feels like one of those Transformers parodies that you see online; it just doesn't feel real.
The amount of times I have tried to explain this movie to people..... there is no way to get past "they are robots that turn into rocks, but its cool" without getting really fucking weird looks.
Finally, someone said it. I may be a Transformers fan, but in my defense? I also have a soft spot for GoBots and Rock Lords too. I'm glad I grew up with Beast Wars and other Transformers entries that aren't G1 lmao. Hell, I might as well think the upcoming Transformers ONE animated movie coming in September would be way more enjoyable to me than both that overrated Transformers 86' and Bumblebee movies combined😆

Is because in the GoBots movie the leader of the good guys does not get killed off. I like transformers as well but what I don't like is having good characters getting killed off both good guys and bad guys. That movie transformers in 1986 have made children cry for having their favorite characters getting killed off. And if I would do an action adventure cartoon I will not have good characters getting killed off I want to entertain kids not hurt them in their hearts and souls.

Cyborgs and sentient robots do make sense probably more Starscream having eggs or what happened to the Rock Lords. The rock lords turned into rocks when disaster happened on their planet. What happened to the Rock lords could have happened to the gobots as well?

When I watched this movie I did like some things about it. For example, Nuggit and Solitaire were pretty decent characters. Overall however, the movie is DEFINITELY inferior to the gobot tv series, and it shows.
I defy you do find something cooler. Dont fcking say Transformers !! The action in Transformers could never measure up to this ! If you dont agree you havent seen the gobots Movie !

i loved this show when i was a kid lol a lot of people think gobots is a knock off to the transformers but the truth is gobots came out first. transformers came out as the gobots competition and was done better so the gobots series lost its ratings and there toy sales went down while transformers dominated the toy market and tv ratings. Hasbro eventually bought all rights to the gobots from tonka and made it an alternate universe to the transformers lol a little bit of cartoon and toy history ;)
Like all the rest of the reasons why I left the toxic Transformers G1 bandwagon, Go-Bots being called a "Transformers ripoff" is the last of my reasons.

Would have preferred a Machine Robo: The Motion Picture produced by Ashi, and serving as epilogue of Revenge of Cronos. With an army of planet destroying Ultra Zods and a GIGANTIC robot form for Gades and an epic clash with Baikanfu. And allies from Earth! Manga styled Nick and AJ, for instance... By the way, French dubbers called Rom "Nick" and Leina "AJ"... While Kirai stol remained Kirai stol :D
There is romance in Sleeping Beauty and actually good acting from the rocks. When Solitaire is just a typical damsel in distress princess, Aurora does more sleeping than Solitaire, and at the end, the romance between Boulder and Solitaire is nonexistent. They don’t even look like friends when they meet again. Leader one shows more compassion and friendship to Cy kill by saving him.
Nobody cares. Sheesh, Bayverse and other Non-G1 Transformers entries fans were so right about you Geewunners -_- y'all are the worst Transformers fans EVER lmao.

Transformers the movie is a cult classic. The Gobots/Rock Lords' movie is a close second.
This movie is genuinely terrible, but I can vibe with it on that level.
all the episodes of the tv series are on dvd today but this movie is the only thing missing from dvd to truly complete the go-bots collection
