Eventually, i will get an mx4. I did finally pull the trigger and picked up the Talaria x3. You guys reaponded to my other handle a few times FuryofD4. I did watch your vids quite a bit to learn the x3 will fit my riding needs the best as of now. I wanted a lighter slimmer bike. You guys helped me choose that one. Thanks for that! Cant wait to start dropping some upgrades in to it and really fine tune it to my style! I will also be dropping some content on the bike!
I have no doubt that after replacing all these components this bike is sick. But that way it is too expensive. Talaria and Sur ron should think of having a few different configurations with higher end components, just like mountain bikes are sold. That way it would be more reasonable because you won't have to pay for all the low end parts that you won't be using.
Great overview, thanks! I have 2 Sting R's with nearly the same specs as yours and I agree completely with your assessment. I've had full-size dirt bikes for most of my life and I much prefer the size and weight of this style e-moto. I love being in the woods riding singletrack, blasting over roots and rocks and the upgraded Sting R is perfect for me. I feel much more comfortable on these smaller bikes and I can do things I never would have tried on my larger MX bikes. I didn't know how I'd like electric vs gas but I find for my situation it's been amazing. I can go places I never would have thought and nobody complains. I rode right through the middle of a crowded park the other day and nobody gave me any flack; there is no way I could do that on a gas bike. Yes, it is an expensive hobby but you don't have to do everything at once! Start with a 16" rear wheel, bars, pegs, whatever. What you're looking at here might take you a long time to finish but I guarantee you'll enjoy every step of the process. If you do the work yourself and space it out over time it's more affordable and it's fun to feel the difference each mod makes. I'm going to sell my Beta 390 in the Spring because I hardly ride it anymore. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for doing all your detailed reviews. They have helped me a lot with my own builds. Ride on!
17K, it’s a lot of money, I see these guys riding their bikes every day! It seems like money well spent! They’ve helped me spend almost that much on my SUR RON, its not hard to do if your buying the best stuff available, there’s a lot of comparisons to gas motorcycles and bigger heavier E bikes, adding 20 pounds, it’s not the same ride. you can take these smaller and lighter bikes where some wouldn’t think possible or would never try. it’s a crazy expensive hobby! Worth every penny! Great video!
lol Same Im come from MTB and shine on singel track. on a mx track Im a average Joe lol but never to Late to learn. im about to start Saveing but not sure if I want to upgrade my mx3 or Wait for the Dragon..
Have you seen the SXS plastic skid plate? You have to notch the back for the peg brackets still but it covers WAY more of them than your current setup.
Yes! Reed and Alex from our channel are running them right now and have been for some time, Alex is about to try out the Grit Shift heavy hitter so Ill be trying out his SXS soon and will notch it like you suggest.
Awesome build on the bike, great content your channel puts out very informative. Your videos have helped me decide on the direction to take my Sting R . Keep up the great videos!!
Ya it has way more to do with how hard you ride it, If you have a really big sprocket its more efficient at slower speeds and less at high speeds as your motor has to spin a lot faster, a small sprocket has the opposite effect. Most people go with something in the middle.
I didn’t like how it made the bike feel when sitting down, my center of gravity was two high when cornering, I’m all for getting bigger wheels and tires and taller bars and peg dropper to achieve a similar size change and still feel good.
Talaria boys, what do you think about chibattery for talarias? Are they quality batteries? I hear mix things about them and I know Surronster likes them. Are they a safe option to go with?
We honestly have been less than impressed with what we have seen/heard about them and with there customer service and our experience talking directly with them. Our Charged Cycle Works batteries have had zero issues and we can't say we've seen any other major issues like we see from Chi.
17k? Lets get a price breakdown on that. Brand new Alibaba talaria is $3800 shipped. Ebmx controller is like 1k, wheels and tires probably another $650, brakes are around $200 for good stuff. That suspension is prob the most expensive at around 3k. A similar bike can be had for a staggering $9000
Question, I can definitely see investing the money to get better performance and a better ride now but how does it hold up long term. In 3-4 years is it still going to have parts available for it and be able to compete with what’s coming out at that point in time? Or is it one of those things can stick around for awhile because their will always be improved parts that would be compatible?
Its hard to say, There are new E-bike models coming out so quickly but the original model called a Surron Light Bee has been out since 2017 and is still very relevant today so that's a good sign. This Talaria model is amazing and even after trying lots of newer models I keep going back to my modded bike!
We can get easily over 30 miles riding decently hard. If you go absolutely full send on trails running big power we get about 25 but I’ve also done 35 multiple times. The big wheels and tires eat more battery for sure.
Curious is the regen wired to the brake lever? Is so is it both side or just one? Curious how that works for aftermarket brakes that don’t have brake sensors or did yours come with them?
The regen thumb throttle is what does the regen, the brakes don’t have any sensor wires or regen capabilities. But I like having the thumb brake much better than brake sensors
The domino throttle is bad ass just because it's suchhhhh a stiff spring. On my stock throttle I'm always worried about hitting a jump and whiskey throttling on the landing because it turns so effortlessly. I bought a domino throttle, but have to cut the current connector off and figure out which 3 out of the 6 wires to use. Now that the stock controller is gone, I might be giving it a shot sometime within the next week or so. I'm just hoping that I can't screw the controller up somehow if I get the wiring messed up. I have a very poor quality diagram so I have an idea of what will work. But im still nervous to destroy a brand new x9000
I have a question about the rear shock triangle you mentioned. I just ordered a warp 9 linkage that is a .75 increase. Will I still need to get the mx3 triangle?
The warp 9 linkage alone with definitely help a lot, I would just put that on and try it. then if you still feel you need more you could also do the mx3 lower linkage.
Stark would whoop our butts. That thing has 60-80hp and the most our modded bikes have currently is 33. But we love the small size of our bikes and don't even want any more power haha!
If you can ride your bike during winter I wouldn't hesitate to just purchase now, I think a new sting if there was one wouldn't be until atleast mid year and really we have no idea.

@ProMountainBiker We get it, you need to watch your wallet. Not me, I just ordered everything in this build but the controller and battery which I will in the spring. I also ordered a Stark Varg and Fuell Fflo. You are in a different demographic and of course wouldn’t understand.
@@jblenh If you have money, you should be smart with it, this is a huge waste of money. You are building a bike that will never be......... anything great.

Been thinking a lot here in Sweden what to choose as a commute that is both fun and worth its' money! hmm.. after calling around, talking with insurance companies , checkin costs of every part this is my conclusion. Prove me wrong please! the reasons I back off form electric engines compared to gas driven mopeds from before 2000... * You do not get any real range, a classic moped get you 124 miles of range ! * is not as comfortable as a real old moped with leather seat * spare parts are harder to find, while the classic spares are everywhere in any mechanic store * the time to charge the battery when you are out n' about compared to fill up the tank of a gastank is a deal breaker, it takes you one min to fill up a gas tank * no benefits of better parking prices or lots for going electric than a normal gas driven moped, the parking is equally expensive here in Sweden , so you are not getting the benefit of buying an "environmentally friendly" vehicle, the government could actually have supported you with a reduced cost of parking it literally everywhere in the world for choosing an electric engine, is he ll of expensive! is 11 dollars a day where I live in Stockholm... * the insurance cost from calling around today to several companies is up to 8 times more than the insurance costs of an old gas driven 2-stroke or 4-stroke moped depending on insurance company and how old your classic moped is. * the actual cost of buying the moped of a classic can be about 800-1800 dollars, and those can come custom made with all the luxury you want, while the xXx here in Sweden is 4130 dollars and the Sting R 2023 is 5785 dollars.... Please, put this in context: You can buy a real motorbike for that money, like go buy a Husqvarna vitpilen 701 or svartpilen 401 and their insurance is also low and down at 22-40 dollars a month.. last insurance company I talked with tonight wanted to have 180 dollars a month for the Talaria 2022!!! whooohaaa... do not buy insurance from Varsam anymore, highest priced insurance in Sweden!! crazy bastards, run if they call you ha ha.... You save so much more on buying an old classic veteran moped, and they can be equally fast, just of course heavier but they will also be more comfortable! You choose, is your money.... just stating the facts after doing a lot of research and talking with people.. and now the Winter is coming here in Sweden, - how well will an electric moped vs a classic gas driven moped run in the cold snow?! You tell me... I want the choice to ride year around without worrying getting home in minus ten degrees and snow... I am just stating the facts... ...I do not know if my choices are right as each person got her situation in life, I have to say I love the Talaria vibe! is unique! but I think I save all my money and get a real motorcycle when the Spring arrives if is gonna end up on these prices when calculating all aspects of owning and riding a Talaria in comparison to the classics instead ! 😂
You should have just bought a Surron Ultra bee, only 20 lbs heavier, same K/W, and only $6500. You wasted all that extra money just because your name has Talaria in it. Crazy
@@windowwasherfpv3485 The problem is the Talaria will never be a UltraBee, because Talaria made from bicycle parts. Ultra Bee made from real dirtbike parts. So you cant compare them. I have Talaria but i spent the half money of the price of my bike to modifications, and now i looking for the power upgrades. But i must spend another 5k to buy the battery and controller. After that i will be hit the 12k cost and maybe i can ride my Talaria like the same how stock Ultra came out from the box. So not worth to tune a Talaria like this. I bought mine in 2022 but i see 4-5 months ago Ultra is here and maybe Talaria release soon the competitor of Ultra, called Talaria Dragon. So now i wait what will be the competitor's product and price, insted of throwing money out of the window....
Thanks for watching but again you don’t get the point, my bike can run 20kw even with the stock motor, ultrabee is 12.5. In stock form it’s a decent bike but no where near as capable or fun as this build. My bike feels so much faster it’s not even funny. 20lbs is a big difference and my bike is fully upgraded so can’t really get any heavier. You can very quickly add upgraded wheels, tires, battery and stuff to an ultra and then it’s 40lbs heavier. It’s a different kind of bike, I’ve ridden on a lot and it’s not what we want for the kind of riding we do. Also we are absolutely not stuck only buying Talarias lol we have more bikes on the way that are direct competitors to Talaria.
Have you guys tried to the Hope Tech 4 V4 brakes? I mean the TRP brakes are okay but their adjustment is pretty limited especially when it comes to lever throw. You are also talking about mineral based fluid compared to DOT 5.1. Also the Hope brakes can run thicker rotors. It just seems everyone says the go to is the TRPs but they honestly feel pretty lacking compared to the hype.
No we haven’t tried hope breaks yet but we would like too. We tell people to get the TRPs because they are the best that we have tried. Hopefully we can try hope brakes in the future. We are excited that warp 9 is coming out with brakes soon!
@@Talariaboys That is what I heard the rumor is... Warp 9 releasing a Emoto specific brake. I will let you guys know how the Hopes work as I just installed a set with their 3.2mm vented rotors. I just wish TRP brakes had pad contact adjustment

* no benefits of better parking prices or lots for going electric than a normal gas driven moped, the parking is equally expensive here in Sweden , so you are not getting the benefit of buying an "environmentally friendly" vehicle, the government could actually have supported you with a reduced cost of parking it literally everywhere in the world for choosing an electric engine, is he ll of expensive! is 11 dollars a day where I live in Stockholm...
You choose, is your money....
just stating the facts after doing a lot of research and talking with people..
and now the Winter is coming here in Sweden,
- how well will an electric moped vs a classic gas driven moped run in the cold snow?!
😂
You also can't ride a stark varg on regular trails without someone calling the cops right away
Exactly!
17k and it would look way better in solid black. Looks like my 10 year old nephews bike with those decals😂
Sounds like your nephew has good taste 😏
@@Talariaboys 💯🤙🏻 real talk, nice bike bro.
Assume ❤
You should have just bought a Surron Ultra bee, only 20 lbs heavier, same K/W, and only $6500. You wasted all that extra money just because your name has Talaria in it. Crazy
You obviously haven’t road a talaira yet that extra 20 pounds but smaller and you can spend the same amount on a surron ultra
20 lbs is not much really... its $17,000 dollars you are crazy also.@@windowwasherfpv3485
He could have pimped out some poor kid's talaria or something, like Surronster just did. 17k........@@windowwasherfpv3485
I just wish TRP brakes had pad contact adjustment
lol I built an ebike that does 100mph for a little under 2 grand! It would pull away from this like it’s standing still! Lol it’s ebike guys build on RUclips that I built
Prove it
You got ripped off paying 17k in upgrades for that bike.
Lol
You should have just bought a varg. That's a real dirt bike.
Did you watch the video?
😂😂😂
God damn bud, you must have a spare aftermarket controller and there somewhere. Want to send them my broke ass way for subscribing lol?
Thanks for watching! To spend this much I had to sell all my stock parts!
You obviously have way too much money at your fingertips.
Just wait till you see our next bike build
HOLY SH*T DUDE, YOU COULD BUY ALMOST 3 BRAND NEW SUZUKI DR400'S SOMEBODY HAS LOST THERE MIND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
want a light e bike? buy a 300 lb + turd.
Definitely don’t want one of those for what I ride
