Awesome video, glad you got to test the Torp 1000! Also glad the upgraded motor was not workable, the stock motor is more relatable. that Range is impressive as well, cant wait to see more content on the Ultra Bee
Ultra Bee and Varg are in entirely different categories though. Ultra Bee is a mid-sized trail bike, and the Varg is a full-on, full-sized motocross bike. For MX track riding, the Varg is unparalleled. You'd be spending well over the cost of the Varg in upgrades to get the Ultra Bee anywhere close to what the Varg is capable of, and it would still fall significantly short.
Very nice video! Wish you would have added in some riding footage, but we'll look forward to that next. Anybody have a lightbee with an aftermarket (and longer) swingarm to test against the feel of the ultrabee?
One reason explaining the gap could be the phase saturation of the stock talaria motor. It would be interesting to get a video recording of the controller apps to see how many amps and phase amps are actually pulled. You set 800 phase amps on the talaria but it might only take 600, hence the gap with the sur Ron which motor is bigger and can probably pull more phase amps!
Hey i love your videos, i have a talaria mx3, could you make a video on how to setup the stock rear shock, i cant vind anything on how to set up the best preload and rebound for my weight
Thanks for watching! you really just mess around with the preload and rebound nobs until it feels that best to you, those stock shocks really don't have a ton of adjustment so you end up just experimenting until you get what feels best to you!
It's slightly larger dimension overall. 10 lbs heavier too. I think it'll be like how a Talaria is now vs a Light Bee. Modded light bee is better, but more expensive. If you're planning on keeping it stock, the Talaria is better.
Hey you young guys are pretty great and finally someone actually weighed these bikes as the claimed weights are often done on the moon. Just don't get in a hurry as people want to see how each component changes the bikes. In that vein I wish you had tried the torp controller on the stock battery first as most people are not going to upgrade that battery as it is over $5000 but just the controller is much more reasonable. I know its fun to see how fast you make these things but they are obviously not made for the drag strip and that much torque is going to be totally useless on the trail. The bigger Ultra will just fit bigger guys better. I will look forward to your ride video. Cheers !
Please do another video with the upgraded motor on the ultrabee, and it might be too much to ask but if you can compare the sotion motor to the ebmx motor on the ultra that would be incredible
I’ve been sitting on the sotion ultra bee motor for over 3weeks unable to use it as well. They sent it with hall sensor. Then they sent me an encoder board but it’s meant to work with FarDriver. I’ll have to use after market battery and custom harness to use with controllers that have no mounting system for ultra bee.
Lots of mention of the weight difference but isnt the utrabee also a near full size dirt bike compared to the talaria? Id happily take the weight difference for something that rides like adult sized trail bike.
so with the big battery with an output of 22kw labelled on the battery, and TRUE CONTROLLER AMP OUTPUT you're looking at like a realistically 300/350 amp true dc current controller. Phase amps are sort of a marketing gimmick for companies to make their bikes seem like they are putting out way more power. at peak output fully charged you might be getting 25 to 30 kw output for about 30 seconds until the controller throttles the output to protect the battery cells limitations.
@@VitorAlbuquerque-u7v No i am saying the controller is not actually putting out 22 kw. in phase amps it looks like the controller puts out alot of amps but it actually puts out half of that.
Can you guys review the Eride pro S and eride Pro SS, this company is putting some shades on talaria and surron right now! Not sure about long term reliabilty and quality of components yet since it's so new.
I decided only to upgrade the UB with the Torp Controller but nothing else. For the price of new 80v battery, new Torp Motor and Sirris suspension I better buy a whole Stark Varg EX soon.
I think why the ultra is faster the the talaria even they both had the same settings is cuz the ultra bee motor can handle more then the talaria motor i think if you guys can find a way to put the sotion motor on the talaria i think they both will be a even match for each other
Can I just have you guys do my EBMX controller, motor, and Charged Cycle Works upgrade for me so I don't have to do it and you guys can test it out? I just don't have the time to get it done
Hi Talaria Boys do you think it would be a good decision too get a torp tc1000 and other upgrades and put it on a Ultra Bee straight away out of the box or do you think i should wait until i get used to the power first and then put some upgrades on?
I would recommend just getting used to it stock, its an amazing bike and has lots of power. If you find yourself wanting more you can always upgrade down the road!
The higher Amp hours make a big difference in the constant power and peak power it can put out. Swap the higher AH battery into the Talaria and you will see that the drag race will be the same but with the Talaria ahead of the Sur Ron. Amp hours give you more than just range it also gives you more constant and peak power to deliver to the controller and motor.
This is true to a certain extent however in this case both batteries are easily capable of the power we were asking them to do. More Ah doesn't always mean more power, some smaller battery cells are capable of much higher output than other larger cells. It really just depends but isn't what you mentioned in this case.
Hey guys i've had my sting r for a while now. I went pretty hard in the hills yesterday and on my way home i popped a wheelie and just as i accelerated and got the front tire up i heard a really loud click sound. It sounded like i snapped something. I popped another wheelie and it didnt make that noise. Today i took my bike out again, popped a wheelie first thing CLICK it made that sound again like i snapped something. I popped another wheelie to see if it would do it again and it didnt. Any idea what this could be? Im gonna ride tomorrow again to see if it does it again but it really doesnt sound good when it happens
Dang thats nerve racking, I'm not sure what that could be, hopefully it doesn't keep happening, Id double check your front wheel axle and headset though as when you wheelie those will come unweighed and could be loose and make a sound upon landing.
@@Talariaboys thanks so much for the reply. I rode today, popped wheelies all day long and it didnt make the noise once. Very very strange. I'll show up again in the comments if it comes back but yeah it was definetly an alarming sound. Thanks for the help regardless
you guys know not much about electric motors. the "ratcheting" 😅 you had on the original motor is because its slotted and you literally feel the magnets aligning throughout the revolution of the rotor....the other motor was a slotless design, and therefore "feels" smoother. My guess is you have a whole lot less voltage sag on the larger ultra battery.
The Ultra Bee also has reverse and traction control vs a Sting R. For half the $$$ of a Stark Varg it is pretty good.
It’s really not a bad deal! Needs a 21 front wheel though

We agree! Sadly the screen recordings on the apps do not show Phase amps pulled only KW pulled so we couldn’t compare as easily as that.
these controllers max out around 300/350 true dc amps so phase amps would be 700ish max

Phase amps has little to no affect on general speed, only torque. If you’re able to change line amps, that would be the difference
And is the gearing the exact same for both bikes?
We understand just have to state everything for the video, we do change line amps in the KW numbers during tests.
Did the traction control work?
We didn’t really get a chance to try yet and it may be one of the oem features that Torp hasn’t rolled out into this controller yet.
