My advice to women is please just google or check out a RUclips video on the part of the car you think is causing the problem BEFORE taking your car for repair. Also get a quote for the job from a main dealership. This way when you take your car to your local car repair garage you will be well prepared and have a good idea of cost.
Careful to not end up getting charged for fixing / replacing what you suggest as the concern, issue potentially in addition to what they repair or instead of what's needed.
Ive spent the last 30 years under cars and concluded it was best to try and avoid working for horsey girls and Taxi drivers.....😂😂....the horse gets all the money......the mechanic left trying to get a battered Saxo, with bald tyres,,destroyed suspension and no insurance past mot for almost zero.cost...😂😂😊
While I am aware that some garages rip off customers, and it needs to be stopped. This report doesn't explain what actually was done for the £300 repair and what the issue was. Firstly most vehicles sitting that long will have a flat battery and won't start as shown in the clip. Then we are dealing with a 20+ year old mini. They can be great but many have years of ignored or deferred maintenance. So they end up with multiple areas close to failure. £300 at the most honest garage isn't even going to scratch the surface to make the car good again. This will apply to any neglected vehicle. Look carefully for something that has history to prove all of the repairs and services. That way with researching the vehicle you want to buy, you will see if it has had any common faults or wear items kept up with over the years. And find a good mechanic and pay them to check it over if in doubt. It could save you a lot of pain. Too many people think cars are maintenance free and they are not.
It's 100% true. I caught one garage out charging me twice as much as my husband. The mechanic was also very rude. I changed garage but they did poor quality work. I now go to a garage run by a woman. Most of these comments are rubbish by the way. Russian trolls no foubt spreading hate.
So no evidence of a problem and all based on feelings or perception. If this is such a problem then female run garages should be raking it in, so where are they?
How will you control what a shop charges for its services every vehicle is different, every job is different and parts & time spent (labour) can very.... Certain brands of cars parts are more expensive..... Dealers will charge more and add things they always have and that won't change and local small shops will be fair and a good few are honest to maintain repeat customers but they still have to make money to cover over heads so it's just that female victim card they think they are being over charged where that is just the price..... And as for the mini that's a new battery or starter motor and £300 is in the ball park for repairs or replacement parts.
ITV garbage as usual, women don't get charged any more than men, that's the truth of it. This video did not present one shred of evidence, expecting the public to swallow every lie they spew. If it bother's a women that much, that a service or repair might hover around the same price that a manicure or hair cut costs, then walk or catch a bus, cause your never going to be realistic about what it takes to carry out maintenance or repairs on your vehicle. Nothing like looking good, right?
Most garages just make up their prices on the spot that's why.
Men are more likely to be overcharged at a perfume shop
No they'e not. The perfume I bought my brother was a fraction of what I paid for my Mum's!
The main culprits for overcharging are the Main Dealers!… they charge for unnecessary work & their parts are overpriced! ☹️
What repair was done for £300?… then we can judge if she was overcharged!
Exactly! And with experience,£300 on a 20 year old mini isn't going to address the many issues it would likely have either.
Many garages are so dodgy
The mistake she made was buying a Mini.
Exactly… 20 year old Mini = a money pit!
Better then brand new cars

You have to know what you're talking about regardless or you'll be ripped off
It's the same when you go to buy one. I was asked once why I didn't bring a man with me.
Absolutely Shocking.

Another bullshit story !!! What was on the woman mechanic's face????:))))
It's not it's true. Might be different in Russia where you probably live...
I'm a men got charged 2x by the same garage for full service over the time I find out they never did anything, how we gonna fix that!?
I've had to sell my car because I can't take the stress of being ripped off anymore.
Damm, at the end, she put black oil on her cheek...lol😅
Another over the top asumtion ' women will say that their charged more for tampax next 🤣
My garage is fantastic no problem at all
Most of them rip us all off
Penelope is pretty x
We should care more about the bees and birds..
Tip: Good mechanics never have black oil on their face!😊

Plsase tell fhem about your insurance. Plenty are ready to support you with advice, free of charge, before quote. No obligation .
Garages and mechanics are the worst thing about motoring.
The Body Work repair shops are the worst, for me as a male. I can imagine for some females clients.
Blondes pay more than redheads and brunettes least of all. Now when you factor in cup size it gets into the realms of bistromathmatics

that's because mechanics have to deal with women!
