    Nice review,
    I use Rokinon 12mm f2 and for correction in LR I use Zeiss Touit 12mm lens profile, works perfect.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  9 лет назад

      Nice. They do have about the same amount of barrel distortion. You must of found a better copy then I had.

    • @ObelixCMM
      @ObelixCMM 9 лет назад

      Yes, only thing I don’t like is amount of CA but that is easily corrected in LR. I don’t do any professional work so lens flare doesn’t bother me, in some shots I actually like it

    • @DevonWayne
      @DevonWayne 9 лет назад

      ObelixCMM If you like lens flare check out the USSR Russian made lens. It doesnt have as many coatings on the glass and you actually get a really unique (real to life, irony) lens flare. It's super cheap, and mounts directly to Sony a6000! Check Ebay. 58mm f2 or "2/58" for $35-55. Manual focus, but also manual aperture ring, so you can still control the aperture (unlike with modern lenses on manual mode or adapter to the sony a6000.)

    Thanks for your review. After using the Touit 12mm for 7 years I can say my lens had a real issue with software. Only after sending the lens to Zeiss service twice I got (or I hope so) it well fixed. It is not reliable as old glass including for instance Nikon AF

    This is a fantastic review!! It answers all my questions, contrary to other reviews... I am in Fuji, using a Pro2 with the 10-24mm and I use it to shoot night architecture and skies. I want to switch because Fuji lacks choices in terms of lenses, even of the ones available are nothing short of extraordinary. But I moved to the countryside and my photography style is changing; I want to shoot wildlife a bit and just use longer lenses to have huge compression. But I do still want to shoot architecture from time to time. So thanks for the detailed and very precise review, with examples!

    @Lavikka Photography Thank you for the video! I just made the switch from a Canon 50D to the Sony a6000 and I am loving it!!! I do, however, need a wide lens for stills. I'm debating whether to keep my Canon EFS 10-22 f3.5-4.5 USM (and just purchase an adaptor) or to just buy an E mount based wide lens... What do recommend???

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  9 лет назад

      Definitely not the canon. The af will be slow and ca's are heavy on that lens.. 3 great options. This lens, sony 10-18mm and Rokinon 12mm f2.0 for manual focus..

    Does the firmware 2.0 upgrade of the 12mm touit fix the weird autofocus chatter issue on say the a6300? Would really like an ultra wide with 2.8 ability and autofocus to use for video. Thanks!

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  8 лет назад +2

      Yes. Make sure you buy a Touit manufactured after 12-2015. That should have the correct firmware. If you find an earlier version then you have to send it into Zeiss to get the firmware updated.

    I'm having trouble choosing which lens I should get between the sony zeiss 16-70mm f4, sony 10-18 f4 and zeiss 12 f2.8. I'm traveling to Dubai soon with my family and want a new lens for my sony a6000. I want it to be sharp, pretty good results using af, as good as it can be anyway. Smallest amount of noise. I want it to work really good to photograph landscape, architect and when there's people in the picture. Which one is better in lowlight? Which one would you recommend?? I tried the 10-18 on my dad but didn't really think it was that sharp, pretty blurry when you zoom in and alot of noise in buildings and so on. Did I use it wrong or could it be a bad batch? Grateful for fast answer.

    Bought this lens and found it horrible for video, the auto focus is really slow on the a6300. Is the Sony 10-18 f4 the best option for a a6300 on a gimbal? Or is there anything sharper? I'd like to use the Sigma art 18-35 but the MC11 and metabones adapters seem awful for autofocus

      The 10-18 works well for video. Not as sharp as the touit though for photography.

    Have you tested the Touit 32mm 1.8 on the A6000? It appears that some of its border softness at wider apertures are due to the sensor of the Nex-7. The same lens in Fuji mount shows less disparity from the center to the border, taking into account the fewer MP of the Fuji sensor. I say this after comparing the lens reviews on Photozone for both mounts.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  8 лет назад

      +Harvey Louis I did and it was just ok. Sigma 30mm is equally as sharp. Sony 28mm f2 is even better. The Touit has really loud af. Also note that version prior to 2015 weren't compatible with PDAF.

    • @harveylouis445
      @harveylouis445 8 лет назад

      I read about the 32mm Touit having loud AF. I am looking for a stills lens, though. I also read that with the latest firmware, the Touit is compatible with hybrid AF. The Sigma only goes to f2.8 and I am looking for a low light option. I read that the Sony 28mm has loads of distortion. I am also considering the Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS but I have read a couple of reviewers saying the 32mm Touit is better. If money was no object, I would go for the Sony Zeiss 24mm 1.8.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  8 лет назад

      The 28m f2 does have distortion but it's still a better lens with lower ca's. I've tested them side by side and the sony is just better wide open.

    • @harveylouis445
      @harveylouis445 8 лет назад

      A lens that distorts over 4% is not for me. I prefer to leave distortion uncorrected for maximum sharpness. I don't architectural photography but over 4% barrel distortion is too much.

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  8 лет назад +1

      +Патрик Стар Yes its noisy. If you focus manually then it won't matter but if you want af that wide then the only other option is the Sony 10-18 f4. Look at the Sigma 30mm f 1.4 I just reviewed too.

    After and having seen your videos on a6000 I bought a6000 with kit lens. I also bought Sony E 50mm F1.8 OSS and Sigma 30mm F2.8 DN. Having decided to sell all my canon 5D marked III and 7D with all equipment.
    I would like to have a good wide-angle lens and think a lot about whether I should buy Samyang / Rokinon 12mm or save for Carl Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8.
    Have you tried the Sony camera app Lens Compensation with Samyang / Rokinon 12mm and see if it helps its distortion?
    I have a Sigma EX 10-20mm 1: 4-5.6 DC HSM. Do you have the opportunity to test such a Sigma on a6000? It might be that I have to keep it if it is otherwise doing well. I can not find nogel test with it and a6000 on RUclips.
    In addition to all the tests I see several years, your absolutely the best.
    Thank you very much for your videos

    • @LavikkaPhotography
      @LavikkaPhotography  9 лет назад

      Michal Juul Thanks. Here is what you need to know. The rokinon 12 and Touit have close to the same element design but the touit has better coatings and better corners. A lot of people use the touit profile to help correct the rokinon in photoshop. You need a Sony E or FE lens to use the in camera correction. I haven't tested the Sigma 10-20. I did use it once on a Nikon and liked it well enough. If you have budget then look at Sony's own 10-18f4. I liked it more then the Toiut but if you are on a budget. go Rokinon.

      Lavikka Photography Prices here in Denmark
      Sony 10-18 F4 $ 882
      Samyang 12 mm 1: 2.0 NCS CS $ 405
      Carl Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8 $ 1,117
      If I could buy Carl Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8 in B & H for $ 600 and avoid tax will I save $ 517 it will be delicious
      I think I try Samyang 12mm 1: 2.0 NCS CS and hope that I get a good model.
      And then I buy Sony 10-18 F4 later when ALL my Canon sold. There would I like to get between $ 4,000 and $ 4,500

      Agreed, a few sentences referencing the other lenses would have been enough. Don't care about fingernails, here for information regarding the TITLE of the video. In addition, using screen capture software would have been far better than shooting from a camera onto a computer screen at 8:08, we can't make out the detail you're seeing at all. Problem with the 12mm Touit is that it has pretty bad chroma capabilities, so when you say 'it's great for astrophotography", well.. not particularly. The Rokinon variant handles astrophotography much better than the Touit. How do I know? I own and use both.
