Thanks for this video, me and wife just went through this same exact problem on our 2013 hyundai sonata hybrid limited. Same exact part and all. Thank you again and hope your car is still running well.
I’m glad it worked out! Long story short, Sonata is gone😭 I suppose filmed the 120k drive belt replacement. But it had happened before that. Safe drive 🙏🏻
@@cheapcharliedoinghisownthings Mostly >Busy traffics when car is fully stoped gas engine kicks on and starts to charge hybrid battery, this moment my foot feels vibration
Engine will kick in when battery is low which is normal. As long as vibration isn’t irregular I think you’ll be fine. If you still worried always good to go checked out :)
It’s a clip that locks and unlocks but it stays inside the elbow. Unlocking wasn’t hard as i remember, just needed to pull the clip to disconnect. Just push to click to connect
Did you replace the hose and the pump? O have a 2011 sonata hybrid and they said the electric water pump cost $1,000.00.....what year and how much was yours?
Mine was 2012 and cost for replacement was $56 for hose + $40 for coolant. Electric motor was failing in my case. Try watch full video and you might pick up what you need to know.
@@Froggy39rfm I just wanted to know what was causing the leak. And initially got me easier access too! No pump replacement. One way I’d try if the pump is fail or not, Run the heater. It’s hot for now but you’ll know 😂
Hello thank you for the video. I was wondering if you know the bolt size to secure the pump. I know you need a 10mm to take them off but do you happen to know the actual size of the bolts because I have a 2011 sonata Hybrid with the same parts but my pump doesn't have any bolts securing it in place. Hope your car is still doing well
As i remember Pump slides and locks into the bracket. So the 10mm bolt is just to held in place. It seems to be okay running without it but not sure in long run. I supposed post 120k maintenance but she was totaled😭
thanks Cheap Charlie, video reinforced guess that pump was fine but needed stronger fingers from friend to get the old quick disconnect hose off. Saved $1500 on this one.
I took it to Hyundai to get it diagnosed they said it was the water pump? charging me 2,199. but when I saw smoke it was where you where looking at not by the belt. what do you think?
So cool! Very helpful. I have a same issue on the connector. I am going to replace only connector and hose. Is it easy to remove the connector from the motor which is fixed?
Hey there thank you so much for the video, I helped my friend by a 2014 Sonata Hybrid limited and I'm pretty certain this is the exact leak that we are having, can you send us the part numbers
I have the exact same car and problem. I brought my car in the past week to 3 places, Firestone, Sundevil and A hyundai dealership. ALL of them couldn't find the problem and tried to recreate the problem(SO THEY SAID), The Error showed on my dash as Hybrid System Warning!Safely Stop and Do Not Drive with a beeping tone. I recorded the error sound and showed it to them. They all claimed they worked on it and they couldn't do anything, because they ran diagnostics and wasn't able to recreate the error , and even said they drove the car around for awhile and the car didn't give them the error and they claimed they did the inspections and found no problems! I picked up the car and drove it home and 40ish minutes later, The Dash error popped up and the sound was clearly back. I pulled over and opened the hood and I could feel the engines' heat, I inspect and I see the coolant (Overflow reservoir)was BOILING , I mean like soup does in a POT after a few minutes!! Clear as day, I recorded it and even asked a mechanic who told me its' the radiator. Ok, so I inspect the coolant reservoir again, after letting the car cool down for about an hour and I check the reservoir and its empty, but from the outside of the reservoir, it looked like it was half full, I put a flashlight to the reservoir opening and sure enough, the reservoir was empty as blip! So i look under the car onto the garage floor and no stains nor leaks, I look into the engine inbetween the engine and I could see liquid on the pan under the engine. HOW is it , I FOUND the problem but NOT ONE of those car places or the dealership mechanics FOUND it? So, I'm thinking to take it back to the dealership and explain this to them, give them the link to YOUR video and tell them, FIX IT. I'd love to do it all myself, but I am NOT mechanically inclined, I'd just make it worse. BUt thank you for this video, I'll try and post the results from the dealership. **Update** I brought my car back to Sundevil because the check engine light popped up on my Dash board, After some tests, Sundevil troubleshooted my problem and found that my thermostat was not working, after a drive the check engine popped back up, Sundevil did a diagnostic and had replaced all hoses and that’s when it showed that there was a clog in the hose from the radiator hose after replacing it the leak showed and it showed that I had a blown gasket. That’s going to cost me an extreme amount of money, more than the BB price of the car, but oh I love my Sonata and I trust Sundevil Auto, so I know they’ll get it right. Meanwhile I’m retired, so no rush to go anywhere, lol.
Sorry to hear that happened. That’s not good sign about the hybrid system! I wouldn’t have run a car specially knowing when coolant is empty. 😳 I had few times Coolant level stains on the tank so i had to check(looks like it’s full). With shops…? Try somewhere else or give them another chance?
I have the same problem in my 2012 hybrid sonata and I already changed the same part and added coolant but the message on my dash continues how can I reset and turn off this warning, thanks .
@@MrTullijulio my Mechanic called me today to tell me they’ve done numerous tests and test runs on my car(they’ve had it for 3 weeks) and no error or flashing code comes back up on the dash. Diagnostic after diagnosed still no error. They’ve seen my recorded dash from my phone. The last thing is to just replace all parts for the coolant and then see if it’ll start up with any error? They are thoroughly making every attempt to reenact the dash code but no luck? Well tomm I pick up my car and hope for the best and probably pay about $500 for all the tests atleast I know they’re honest. Good luck Julio
I meant to update, so I picked up my car from the auto shop and NOPE they were unable to recreate the error and tried and tried and were outstanding in their efforts but the car seems to be running so they handed me the keys and said if the error happens again, drive it with the error into the shop so they can see it and hopefully catch the error. I showed my recording (it should be the same) and I’ve driven the car a few times and no alert but today I checked the coolant tank and it was empty so I added coolant(again) there are no leaks nor drips but ok. I started the car and the engine light came on, I connected my Fixd adapter and it came up with a severe engine problem do not drive, I reset the problem and ran another scan on the fixd adapter. I can hear the engine rev and shake as if it’s going to stop. I turned off the AC and the shaking stopped? I turned off the car. Now what? Help, please

Hi how did u connect the plastic elbow I can't!😢
Great video exact leak and failure I Just had on my wife's 2013 Hybrid sonata.
Hope you have fixed the problem!
I have 2013 Hyundai Santa hybrid and has same issue do you think replacing with universal connecter will solve the issue?
Hi there, does your car making vibration during stoped and charging hybrid battery ?
It shouldn’t be vibrating unless the engine is running for charging battery. What kind of vibration?

Does the metal piece come off and clip back on on the elbow connector part? It slides off easy Or do u squeeze??

I just won’t run the car until things fixed. You don’t want that over heating 😇

How do I remove the connector piece from the water pump? I’ve been stressing the last hour 😂
I’m trying to replace the hose without removing the pump
Now that I got that off I’m have a hard time removing the other side of the hose
As I remember one side is like push clip and the other regular ‘undo’ clip. Hint is in the video 👌 good luck
