What's good #GustoGang , we filmed this in the middle of the snowstorm and had a great time creating this content for you! What's your favorite thing to do in the snow? 🏂
A couple of more winter tips from a Chicagoan: 1- Keep your head covered. You lose most of your body heat through your head. It will help you to feel a little warmer. 2- After or during an ice storm (freezing rain), stay off of icy pavements! They can be really treacherous to walk on and falls are very likely. It is better to walk on snow, but still extreme caution is required.
For those that have a car, good idea to keep an ice scraper/snow brush, small shovel, extra window washer fluid, jumper cables, jack and spare tire, blankets, snack/water, and a power bank phone charger in ur car as well. Lived in Chicago and surrounding burbs for 50+ years ... these things will come in handy if u break down or get stranded. Been there, done that ...
Fantastic advice!! Very well said Marcella!! 💯
Thank you!
This is great advice Luis for people who are new to Chicago, and have never experienced Winter before.
Appreciate it Jose, we tried our best to include as many practical tips since we both lived in warm climates as teenagers
You getting real professional with these videos now! I see you bro keep it up it's only a matter of time until you blow up
Appreciate you bro! Thanks so much for the love!! 💯🙌
I'm from Florida and also went to UF, go gators! I'm moving to Chicago next year, these videos are so helpful!
Go Gators 🔶🔷🐊
Glad these videos could help you, thanks so much for watching!!
This is my exact position lol. Glad to see another Gator 🧡💙
Update?😊
I am one of MANY ex-Californians who has moved into a colder climate. Thank you for making this video! I feel like the majority of America takes knowledge like this for granted. I didn't actually see snow until I was 16, and now that I'm going to be living in it I have no clue where to start!
I didn't see active snowing until two weeks and I'm 31. We've stayed in Chicago for over a month and we're from Los Angeles. It's actually kind of enjoyable to feel more of a real winter than what I've known all my life.
I really miss winter in Chicago! The whole city is so pretty when it is blanketed in fresh snow!
Another handy item to keep in your car in the winter is a small container or bucket with lid of something that will help you get unstuck in the snow. This can be an issue on the high crowned side streets. I use a mixture of rock salt, kitty litter and sand. Gives you some traction and helps to melt the snow or ice.
Great tip! Funny enough, I saw a car get stuck in the snow on my block over the weekend, they tried to put cardboard under the tires but it didn't work ... took em like 30 minutes to get out!
@@LuisGustoChicago Winter in Chicago can be demonic I had frozen feet and my chest was cold. I was there in 2020 in November I remember
Tip for walking on snow or icy areas is to walk like a penguin. Helps to keep your balance and not slip as much. And don't worry about slipping, we have all done it, and people are good at helping you up or catching you before you fall.
Haha yes great tips 🐧
It's nice to see these extreme cold climates here in Los Angeles with 63 degrees and sunny weather.
I am ready! Bring it on. Never experienced a Chicago winter.
Really thankful for these videos! Gonna go to chicago for the first time for this xmas!,, thank you!,
So true about staying active and suggest a humidifier. I would like to see videos of Chicago people doing activities.
We are blessed with lots of parks and trees.
💯
I’m looking at moving up from Tennessee this summer and these videos have been so helpful!!
So glad to hear that, thanks Brian!
i dont know why im watching this. (ive lived in chicago since 2010)
I'm from Minnesota
Bro, you’re the best Chicago tour guide in the game! Keep it up, we be noticing 😎
*we notice
I have no idea how cool & lovely Chicago is! Your vid is quite informative. This kinda of pursues my curiosity flying to IL right now!
Great video again!! Always helping real life ..😉
Thank you so much!!
New York City(My Hometown) and Chicago are The Best Cities in the United States 🙌 💯💯
Great sell on the Chicago winter. I always tell people the winter in Chicago really isn’t so bad 👌
Your videos are such high quality since day one!
Much appreciated Gloria!
4:40 I love the 16mm film footage!
Glad to hear, thanks for noticing 😎🎞
Another great video, thank you for doing this :)
Thank you so much, it was a lot of fun to film!
Oh, Luis I hope you have your hand warmers. I was shoveling this afternoon and that wind is COLD. Will check in later...bundle up.
Lol yes I had it on me
Chicago winter is an experience-i have lived here for 65 years-time for me to fly. Polar Vortex can be brutal. Face Masks(not corona type) are a must. Make sure your gas tank is full and use HEET additive in the tank. Consider the lakefront a radioactive area in winter. Beautiful architecture here.
You are so close to 5k!!
We passed the 5K mark overnight, what a great start to the month! 🙏🎉
7k💪🏾
Another great video! Brrrr....
Thank you 😁❄
Such high quality!! Great video!
Thank you!!
good video keep it up bro!!!!!
Thank you bro!!
Awesome video man!
I come from a cold climate, winter is not a problem for me - in fact, I'm wondering will I be able to use my skies in Chicago? Perhaps, it's for this reason that I feel even more inspired when I see winter Chicago videos.
Nowhere to ski here, there is an icy hill in Wisconsin that people “ski” at but it doesn’t compare to real mountains
Moving there later this year from a warm climate! Appreciate the info 👍🏼
It's an adjustment but overall the winter is enjoyable, glad you found it helpful 🙏
Ik I’m a year late to this vid but as a Miamian going to school in Chicago next year, tysm!
It's pretty nice video of Chicago. Hope one day I will also visit USA.
I use high neck thick fleece, cotton could become very cold due to persrpiration.
Your videos are so dope I'm in a big fan!!!
Thanks so much Marcus!
can't wait to go to chicago
Such an amazing city!
winter can start as early as Nov 1st and last till mid may ........ Trust me on this i am 60 + years old and lived in the Chicago area my entire life (hence my name)
I love Chicago
Truth has been told.
💯
The best thing i would do with snow is that i would make Italian ice with snow and fanta soda and it would taste like the actual thing
Edit: Congratz big man on 5k
Haha that sounds fun! Thank you my friend I woke up and saw the 5K notification!!
I'm taking this video with a grain of salt because I'm from Alaska, and the winter is way colder here than in Chicago. 😄 I'll probably be fine wearing a T-shirt and shorts in Chicago.
Omg this is giving me anxiety. I’m in Chicago for nye visiting from Australia.
thanks for this video. We are going to chicago nov 15-21 and weather says 40s 39s and low 22-28 so coming from south florida where it's 86 degrees t shirt and shorts and flip flops now have to bring turtle necks, sweater and jacket hopefully that's enough, and jeans or long pants socks gloves. I think I'll freeze lol and you're from florida so the cold will not be good feeling for us but I don't care I want to see science & industry (saw your video) and museums, china town, lincoln park & zoo etc. I want to see all that loop area what you showed us ride the L train. I can't wait. thank you for sharing this video. do you think layering is best option???
This is just what I'm looking for. Just wondering how do you survive the Chicago winters.
How cold does it really gets in chiccago ? And how often is it sunny?
After 14 years in Chicago I moved to Miami. I could not take the winters anymore!
Lol I hear ya! A lot of my family lives in South Florida 🌴
@@LuisGustoChicago But I still love Chicago. Greatest city in the world!
Always so positive considering the polar vortex is back, I don’t know how you’re so optimistic lol. Born and raised in Chicago and really need a way to get out during the winter ❄️ months, sadly I’m here every year.
Have no idea why, but I've always done really well in the cold lol. A trip to someplace warm really helps to break it up, maybe next winter!
@@LuisGustoChicago yes I also want to wait until a vaccine is more available because so many people are traveling to Mexico and Puerto Rico which is contributing to the spread of corona to the local population which isn’t fair. Hopefully next winter ❄️
When does it start snowing. FL gal here considering moving to Chicago in October for at least 6 months to do a school program. Lawdy, idk what I’m thinking!
Heyy, do you have tips about students heading to Chicago too studyy?
When does snow start and end?
Thanks in advance ☺
It can start as early as Halloween, with a light dusting or just flakes in the air, no accumulation. On and off in November. Definitely by late November, some inches. As he stated in his video December through February, yes. However, in Chicago you can get snow into March and April too.
Dunno why I'm watching this - I'm from Australia, but this is kinda fun
Glad to hear!
I’m a Californian visiting mid November for 3 days. We’re spending the whole time walking the city. What should I wear?
How many times were airports closed in Chicago due to the winter for instance O’Hare
Seldom. Chicago doesn't shut down unless it's 2ft of snow or more and even then some flights are still go, especially at O' Hate. Schools and businesses are the same. National emergencies may cause it to shut down, too.
@@coxmosia1 oh thanks for the info. Speaking of airports. Ik airports in Chicago, LA and New York. LAX, o hare, jfk and LaGuardia
in chicago winter is like mid November to late march.
Not sure this is ok to ask, and I’ll late too, but is there a good Chicago (general) discord you would recommend ? Or, do you have one? I’d love to join. Moving here so so soon Nov first and while I’m nervous, I’m so excited!
chicago can tech have both a mild and bad winter in the same year all depends on what part of chicago you live in ( example in the winter of 2010/2011 we had both a bad winter and mild winter Noth of I 290 had lot of snow where as the southern area where i live the same winter was mild )
You should work as a.news anchor or work in the broadcast industry lol
Thanks Jasmine, I'm sure you'll see me on local Chicago TV at some point 😎
@@LuisGustoChicago I hope so, you’re a pro
I’m going here in two days are blue jeans enough for this weather or should I wear thermals underneath the jeans.????
Did you find out?
@@Tumbleweed1919 definitely thermal underneath
Please use one finger eskimo style gloves.
👍👍👍
🙌
I hate winter lol. Every year I try to enjoy it but nah.
Lol I feel ya, some of my family members don't like the cold even though they've been living here all their lives lol
cold
Nope I'll keep California I can't stand cold weather no no no smh 😤
