@Jaylen-Ree Wilson damn sound just like me ..I'm always saying how big cities are nice and people down here talk about crime and traffic ...they live in a non cultural bubble ...lmk if looking for roommate in future lol
@OH Yeh! of course we have problems as most other major cities do but you have to realize the crime in Chicago is segregated. Where these crimes take place and happen the most at vs. Where you actually are at
@@sheneedsyrruup Im saying most of the crimes are in local communities that tourist and most people never visit. One block of Chicago can be flourishing with business and money flow while other parts the only thing you would see over there is low income housing and neighborhood shops. Most the crime that takes places in Chicago happens in places you would probally never visit.
both of my parents grew up on the southside, my stepdad grew up in Evanston, and I was born and raised in the NW suburbs. After college I’m so moving to chicago. the pride is real. there really is no place like Chicago
Lived there for 5 years..those winters can be brutal. After being away for three years now though, I'm considering moving back again LOL :P I totally miss the summers/early fall and *the lakefront*. I had a few people tell me to get a car, but I loved living there without one. Oh yeah - compared to Atlanta, I never found Chicago hot or humid. For me, South Loop is where it's at.
I feel you on the winters, one thing I try to do is schedule trips to Florida during the season to break up the cold weather routine. Trust me, I know the feeling! When I left after grad school, I constantly felt the tug of Chicago life and within a year and a half started making plans to come back. Yea, honestly a car is just a bonus for road trips or maybe big grocery runs, but otherwise it's pretty easy to move around the city. South Loop is dope, one of my best friends lives there and the new DePaul basketball arena is in the neighborhood. Thanks so much for watching!

Its built different for sure. The grid had to expand in its spacing in order to accommodate alleys into it. The resulting wideness allowed bigger sidewalks. The suburbs are built like that too, also very broad and wide. 6 lane roads like ogden golf, or roosevelt, or higgins or randall roads are built for the car. Not so downtown or throughout most of the city which is only 30mph max speed. I was born raised 60630 through the 80s n 90s
Thanks Luis! As a college graduate about to move to Chicago, your videos have been by far the most helpful! You also have such a positive outlook on life and I feel really happy after I watch your videos!

Often thought about moving back, but the weather prevents me. Still looking for a good hot dog,Italian Beef and decent pizza. You are not going to find anywhere in California.
As someone who lives in the Bay Area I can for sure back that. Chicago pizza here is very underwhelming but we have a pho place on every block on boba everywhere 😂
I also grew up in South Florida and go to college in Gainesville, and also would consider Chicago maybe for grad school. The weather would be a big adjustment but I love the idea of being up there!
My daughter, born and raised in Miami Beach, went to Chicago to attend The University of Chicago (Chicago has amazing schools). She fell in love with the city, and has now lived half her life there. My husband and I ended up buying a condo in the city and go in Spring and Fall every year. We love it and it’s seasons! Winter back in Miami Beach😂
I think the winters are generally overstated. I am from Long Island originally and have lived in Brooklyn twice. In many years the winters in New York were just as bad or worse.
My man, this was such a great video. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to Michigan, but I’m looking for a job in Chicago to move back. Trying to find a job and a place in the city. This was both informative and got me really excited to be looking! Great content man. Love your style.

Born and raised in Chicago. I just moved to Nevada last week at 50. Chicago has the best people. The best food and culture. Museums and theatres. Navy pier. The winter is cold but beautiful. Dress right and you will be ok. I always owned a car in Chicago .public transportation is incredible. Chicago will always be in my heart.
ive always wanted to move to chicago to pursue my dream becoming an orthodontist. this video has helped me so much and has made me want to move there more than ever. i already live in a cold country so it suits me :D

Hit me up when I move here in a few years, love the food, love the sports, love the sights. I live in Michigan right now and am about to go into my senior year of high school
I was born and raised in Chicago till my mid teens when my family and I moved to Puerto Rico. It's beautiful here, but being in my 30s, currently unemployed, completely single with no kids, I just feel like there's nothing and no one for me here anymore. I want a change, and I just don't know how to go about it when it comes to finding a job first. I'm a teacher, but I no longer want to be one, so I don't want to look for teaching jobs. Maybe as a teacher assistant, but I would like to live near where I used to live as a kid. I just don't know how to start the process.
You have to have faith. Ok. All journeys being with faith and effort. There's an app called wonolo. You can work anywhere that has wonolo. You get paid every 2 to 3 days. No tax taken out. No interview. No drug test. Just pass the quiz. You're your own boss. Work when you want. You can earn $500 a week or more. It's up to you. Then craigslist has shared rooms. Where you can find a place in a house that has a room for rent and you pay a set amount. Tell them your story. A respectable person will understand. If you need any help. I'm here. But take that step. It'll lead you to your destiny. Blessings. Oh and if you decide in wonolo. Use my referral code. We will both get $25 once you complete your first job. I say figure out what kind of jobs you could see yourself doing, find someone with a Chicago address to put on your resume, apply to jobs in Chicago, and save as much money as possible to move to Chicago once you get hired. (See if you can do your interviews via Skype or something like that.) Living on the Northside of Chicago is the best place to start off at if you’re not very familiar with the city.
And if you’re going to be a teacher’s aid you’ll likely need to have a roommate to afford most rent/living expenses in Chicago. The good thing about Chicago is that there are activities/venues that you can attend as a single person. Lots of museums, festivals, large parks, the downtown water taxi, music in the park, etc.
Chicago's tallest building is the "Sears Tower," not the Willis Tower. When people say the "Loop" they are probably talking about where they work, but when Chicagoans say Downtown, they mean all the areas near the Sears Tower like Millennium Park, River North, but most likely aren't refering to where they work, but where they will eat, drink, sociallize, tour, etc.
Noooo. The loop is a clearly defined area bounded by the EL TRAIN elevated tracks on the west LaSalle St, north Lake Street, east Wabash St., and south some street near Congress, i never learned. Back, way back in the day a seven year old kid could push 3 cents, get on the EL in Austin, ride downtown around the loop and back to Austin w/o getting off the train, about 2 hours of adventure. It cost 11 cents just to get in a movie theater without the fresh air. Livin’ large.
thanks for the video man! I'm a college grad who's now working in finance and is ready to move to a bigger city (hometown, Tulsa Oklahoma). Chicago seems like the perfect choice considering it's affordable than my other option (Denver). can't wait to make it out there!
Good clip, Mr. Gusto. Esp the part about it being a city of neighborhoods. Was very happy to see in another clip you clearing up the business about deep-dish. All true Chicagoans know tavern-cut thin-crust is the real Chicago pizza. The only 36th thing I can think of is that you're not allowed to put ketchup on your hotdog here. ;-)
I desperately want to leave my small town in southern Louisiana, and I’m feeling really drawn to the Chicago area. One of my biggest concerns is choosing a decent neighborhood to live in. What advice can y’all offer me on that?
Wicker park, lakeview, andersonville, boystown and West loop. if you are looking for cheaper rent, look for uptown neighborhoods like irving park, jefferson park, old town.
Crazy how your FL experience is so different from mine! Or maybe Orlando/central Florida is just a different entity. Orlando is a HUGE tourist city and I work on International Dr so diversity was big and so was the friendliness. In general people are super helpful and you can run into any nationality. I’ve come to love this part of Florida but I’m also excited to move to Chicago in the next couple years 🎉
I’m thinking extra hard about making a big move all by myself to this city from upstate new york. i want to experience living somewhere new but i really don’t know where to begin.
Yea winter can be a tough time to move, I was fortunate to be able to live with family and go to school so I was surrounded by a lot of people. This winter may be difficult considering everyone is working remote for the forseeable future.
Hey man! Super helpful video! I just got accepted to Columbia College Chicago, and will likely be going there. To any Chicagoans, what are some thoughts on the area around the college and the college itself
This gonna sound crazy. I used to live in NY then got moved to the south and I’ve wanted to live in a city again and I tried going to the military but didn’t like living like that but when I was in RTC I hated it but I do want to try checking the city out and consider moving because I need a change.
Great video. Originally, the term "Windy City" referred to politicians always coming in and out of the city. I guess "city of big shoulders" would be more accurate when talking about Chicagoans being proud. I'm not sure how I stumbled on this video, but it's spot on.
@@LuisGustoChicago It was given by New York newspaper columnists because of Chicago columnists and politicians bragging while both cities competed for the 1893 Worlds Fair
I grew up in south florida and going to UF in Gainesville right now. Got family from Chicago and visit every summer. Love your video spitting real facts. I plan on moving there for grad school for business. Any recommendations for programs and stuff?
Moving from Washington D.C. to Chicago, and the cost to living in Chicago was actually a selling point for me compared to D.C. so I’m hype about that 😂 also, when is it safe for me to say “I live in Chi-Town Baby!”...never? Got it. great video thanks! 😂

It cost 11 cents just to get in a movie theater without the fresh air. Livin’ large.
Moving from Atlanta to Chicago I’m sooo excited!!!! Ur video got me amped !!!!!
Thank you so much for this! I'm graduating college soon and am looking at jobs in Chicago, and really needed some info on the city!
thank god. as a free agent who just signed with the bulls I'm happy I can watch this video
thanks for the video man!
The only 36th thing I can think of is that you're not allowed to put ketchup on your hotdog here. ;-)
I've lived here for 9 years and this just made me happy :)
Great to hear 😀🙌
“We have pretty cold winters” me: laughs in Alaskan. But really I love Chicago and the cold weather obviously isn’t a deal breaker for me 💖
Haha true, haven't been to Alaska yet but it's on my list!
Radiation Therapist moving to Chicago in May! So excited!
this was such a great vid !! it’s always been my dream to move to chicago 🥺
Thank you! I hope you get to move to Chicago 🙏
Wow !! Great video ! You made us so curious, that this summer time we are going to visit Chicago! 🙏
I desperately want to leave my small town in southern Louisiana, and I’m feeling really drawn to the Chicago area. One of my biggest concerns is choosing a decent neighborhood to live in. What advice can y’all offer me on that?
look into wicker park
Wicker park, lakeview, andersonville, boystown and West loop. if you are looking for cheaper rent, look for uptown neighborhoods like irving park, jefferson park, old town.
Evanston is an awesome place but it is expensive
Me too, born and raised in Houston and am also feeling very drawn to Chicago.
Did you end up moving to Chicago? :)
Hi! I love your RUclips channel! Can you do a video about how to stay safe in Chicago? I wish I could move to this city one day :)
Thanks man. Gonna visit the city in July and will be taking your knowledge with me.
This is so helpful as someone who just moved!
Crazy how your FL experience is so different from mine! Or maybe Orlando/central Florida is just a different entity. Orlando is a HUGE tourist city and I work on International Dr so diversity was big and so was the friendliness. In general people are super helpful and you can run into any nationality. I’ve come to love this part of Florida but I’m also excited to move to Chicago in the next couple years 🎉
Luis! Love your videos! Could you make a video elaborating on #34 (the mayor)? I'd love to see you make a video on chicago and politics!
I’m thinking extra hard about making a big move all by myself to this city from upstate new york. i want to experience living somewhere new but i really don’t know where to begin.
It's a big decision, but every plan starts with the first step!
Hi, did you move yet?
Great job brotha. Super informative and helpful 🙏🏽✊🏽
I’m 25 applying for law school in Chicago kind of scared I won’t meet people , haha but this video motivates me
Good luck!
Its easy, dude, y’start with “Hi!”
Excellent video, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Appreciate it! It's my pleasure!
Moving to Chicago next May this video made me so excited 🥰🥺
So happy to hear!
where are you from? if u are from america can you please recommend places, i want to move there when i am older :))
Enjoy your time here! I've lived in Chicago my whole life & I plan on never leaving. I love it here!
Very informative, thank you!
I can’t wait to move there in June!
Sounds good. I'm just not good at socializing. So, if I arrive during winter, I'll probably be alone for the first few months that I'm there.
Yea winter can be a tough time to move, I was fortunate to be able to live with family and go to school so I was surrounded by a lot of people. This winter may be difficult considering everyone is working remote for the forseeable future.
Great info in this video! I might just make the move for the food!
That's a great idea!
The exception to the truce with NYC is in the theater and entertainment community.
A pleasure to watch!
So excited for moving to Chicago next year! I love this list!
Hope you have a great move!!
Hey man! Super helpful video! I just got accepted to Columbia College Chicago, and will likely be going there. To any Chicagoans, what are some thoughts on the area around the college and the college itself
Moving to Chicago in June!😍😍😍
Great video! Super helpful
This gonna sound crazy. I used to live in NY then got moved to the south and I’ve wanted to live in a city again and I tried going to the military but didn’t like living like that but when I was in RTC I hated it but I do want to try checking the city out and consider moving because I need a change.
Go Gators! You said you went to school in Gainesville! I am from there and looking to move to Chicago! This video is so so helpful!!
🐊🐊🐊
.. I searched for this video for references in my book. Thank you.
My first home... Can't wait to come n September. Dope video for sure! Subscribed!! 💕
Thank you so much 🙌😎
When I got to Miami I just talk to people. I don’t care if it bugs them lol. I’m part Cuban but grew up in NorCal. Chicago sounds great!
I live 2 hours from Chicago and feel drawn to it.
really good video. ive been considering relocating from the bay area to chicago
Thanks so much!
Very accurate video of the city. Chicago is a phenomenal city and I have the feeling that better things are yet to come.
Thank you! Well said!!!
Great video. Originally, the term "Windy City" referred to politicians always coming in and out of the city. I guess "city of big shoulders" would be more accurate when talking about Chicagoans being proud. I'm not sure how I stumbled on this video, but it's spot on.
Thank you! I did a whole video on Chicago nicknames, there were some interesting ones that I found!
Nope. Politicians being full of hot air is what the term refers to
@@LuisGustoChicago It was given by New York newspaper columnists because of Chicago columnists and politicians bragging while both cities competed for the 1893 Worlds Fair
Greetings from Humboldt Park! Awesome video!
Your videos are going to motivate a lot of people to flock to Chicago and we don't need anymore lol
Also, don't forget Little Mexico! aka Little Village/Pilsen.
I'm tryna lure the best NBA free agents to sign with the Bulls 😂
Thanks so much for watching!
I grew up in south florida and going to UF in Gainesville right now. Got family from Chicago and visit every summer. Love your video spitting real facts. I plan on moving there for grad school for business. Any recommendations for programs and stuff?
Go Gators! I did the Software Engineering program at DePaul, but there are a ton of colleges and universities in this area so lots to choose from
Moving from Washington D.C. to Chicago, and the cost to living in Chicago was actually a selling point for me compared to D.C. so I’m hype about that 😂 also, when is it safe for me to say “I live in Chi-Town Baby!”...never? Got it. great video thanks! 😂
😂 Hope you have a great move
... But on the odd chance you meet Austin Powers...
I move in a week! Thank you for this
Glad I could help! Have a great move!!
Okay I'm definitely moving to Chicago now!!
