Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago circa 1951. Most of this is news to me. lol for the old Butternut Bread factory. It was near my old Cosmopolitan Nursery School. You knew you wer close because of the smell of fresh bread baking.

I went to school here during its transformation from dilapidated industrial buildings to skyscrapers and strip-malls. The combination of residents, academic professionals & students give it a flavor that's hard to find in other places.

I moved to Chicago in 1981, but I have learned more about this place from your videos in the past couple of years than I knew from 40 years of residency. This is a wonderful channel. Keep up the good work, Luis! By the way, I spent one Halloween night at the Keith House in the 1980s, watching one of those "special events," a one-man show about Edgar Allan Poe.

I live in this neighborhood in one of the Motor Row district historic buildings. Thank you for such a heartfelt video . I kind of like how "underrated" our part of Chicago is, considering its proximity to the Millennium Park . I wish there were more authentic restaurants and small shops along S. Michigan Ave to keep all the historic buildings alive and in use. Hopefully it will happen some day without taking away neighborhood's cool character.

Back in the 90s, there used to be an old railroad boxcar and people would play in the boxcar and tagged the train tracks ended near or behind the Buckingham fountain ⛲. This place has changed emmensly since when I used to go there growing up.a lot. This area honestly used to be a whole bunch of trees, old train boxcar, and a separation from the north and Southside of chicago.

Love the video! Video idea: talk about upcoming skyscrapers/projects in Chicago like the Tribune East tower. It's approved to become Chicago's second tallest building within 30ft of Sears tower by 2025. If you happen to make something like that, know that I turned all bell notifications on so I wont miss any of your videos. I really hope to live in Chicago some day, it's such an amazing city! @@LuisGustoComedy It sounds like an interesting neighborhood to me. Definitely a working class area. I know in the past it has had some crime issues, and I'm not sure how safe it is currently. I first heard about the neighborhood when Jane Jacobs talked about the "unslumming" of the neighborhood in her classic book, "The Death and Life of Great American Cities". I think it would be pretty cool to see a neighborhood like this in a video.

North and south limits nobody is certainly right, I used to drive for Uber and Lyft and it was the same question passengers always had, or conversation point, some said north avenue was the division between north and south, others say it was division St and like you said others consider I290 the division line, so then how it's possible that the west side is between both sides? Lol
