Used to live there and it's still one of my favorite skylines. The summers are fantastic.
I'm a proud Chicago and currently no longer lives in the city but I was a tour guide for a couple of years and you described everything perfectly.
I gave architecture tours and It speaks volumes that you said you know nothing about architecture but you definitely noticed it.
I hope you get to visit again because there's so much more outside of downtown!

Downtown Chicago has a very grand feel to it. One of the best downtowns in the world. It looks amazing both in winter and summer.

I went to the sky deck in the Sears tower when I went to Chicago in the summer time and it was so amazing. One thing I learned also is don’t call it the “Willis tower”, everyone in Chicago still calls it the sears tower.

You have to come back in the summer and do the Chicago Architecture Center's architecture boat tour! Easily the best thing to do as a tourist. They take you down the river and explain the history of the city and the buildings and then take you out on the lake after giving you really cool skyline views.

Nothing beats that view from the planetarium!! Next time (in the summer maybe) you have to do the architectural boat tour! We did this every year that we lived in Chicago! So fun to see you exploring this epic city.

Or a walk on the Riverwalk in summer plus a river boat tour with it going into Lake Michigan also. Some are on the river and Navy Pier..... Still she it two awesome skyline views.

I’m from Wisconsin and we love visiting Chicago! But yes my friends from the east coast couldn’t believe how big Lake Michigan feels. It’s the ocean of the Midwest!

I love your first impression of one of the Great Lakes! They are surprising in their size and power, the first time you encounter one. I live in Buffalo, at the northern end of Lake Erie, and in all honesty, the Great Lakes are my favorite part of this country. Drop in our way sometime! We're a smaller city, but we're working on it.... :)

I think thats something most people don't realize living off a great lake is like being by the ocean. We have beaches, waves, and coastal towns. The only difference is no sharks and the water isn't salty.

I live a couple of hours from Lake Erie. It hits the spot for when I am craving a big body of water. Feels like the ocean and has waves like Lake Michigan.

Chicago has so much more to offer. You should try eating at local spots next time. There’s plenty of museums. Go up the Trump tower or London house for free for good views of the city. Explore Pilsen, Andersonville, Chinatown, those are some good neighborhoods to start off with. Observation deck isn’t worth your money. Sears tower is as a bucket list. So many good bars, you can go to the Chicago theatre, see the Chicago symphony orchestra, watch a comedy show locally. There’s so many good food places to eat check out the Chicago food subreddit. Explore other neighborhoods and outer suburbs.

The architecture boat tour is my favorite thing I’ve done in Chicago. If you go again when it’s warmer I recommend checking it out!

It was not that cold in Chicago when she made that video I live here this was great weather we haven’t even got snow it’s January it was in the 50s Xmas but she from outta town maybe cold 2 her i get it we still waiting on winter here so glad it hasn’t snowed yet
