The first thing you sacrifice when you join the military is your Freedom. You do it for the greater good. I have heard some ignorant people say people who join the military do so that they can have someone make decisions for them and that we are robots. They have no concept of the sacrifices we make while in and once we decide to leave. This SEAL will pay for his injuries in pain and possibly a shortened life. Nothing is for free.

I spent time in the Australian Army in the 80's. Got so fucking bored with the no conflict and using shit equipment, I got out and played Rugby for 10 years at the top level to get my fix of belting the shit out people. 12 years later 911 happened and the Aussie Army got serious. Some of my mates who stayed in went to SASR or Commando's and did some crazy shit in Iraq And Afghanistan. But plenty of them spent over a decade in the SAS or 3RAR (Airborne) and didn't fire a shot in anger after getting out pre 911, a couple are now SF Brigade commanders with plenty of medals. Like all things in life, timing is key. You can spend 10 years training with the best, but that's all it'll be, training. Much respect to the US special forces, Semper Fi.

I decided after having a good SOF Friend with bad PTSD and a long list of injuries that if they can make money this way, well let'em. God knows I love reading Buds stories. No idea why, I guess hanging through various stages of hypothermia freaks me out so bad its like reading horror stories.

First. Thank you for your service. But you are very clear in your words and your voice. You made the wrong choice. The problem with the young buck is they can't see past 30 or 35. And... who is going to take care of you when the wear and tear you already have experienced hits you hard... and it does hit hard. I've seen so many guys quit at 15 not realizing that 5 years is the blink of an eye to a 50 year old..... gone are the benefits... the comraderie... welcome to the civilian world where all we care about is turning a buck and making you part of the gears we have no problem wearing out and throwing out.
Would be great to actually see one of you guys tell it like it is and talk to active team guy into staying in.... there is no such thing as greener grass.

Yea you are pretty dumb no lie. These are normal men, they might be superhero’s at what they do but they are normal men with normal families and normal bills and tough obstacles in life just like the rest of us. Most of them get out because they are on the brink of getting a divorce and possibly losing everything they have left in life. Also, like he said it’s a young mans game, their bodies go through so much from all the years of training and operations.

In this business your talk means nothing compared to your actions and heart. I do however respect a dream. But by no means should we be a fool and say its that easy. These men are Extraordinary. I do apologize for coming off rude tho. I do realize it all starts with a spark. Read Cus Demantos quote about a spark.

vlun121 you only know about the boring missions because that stuff is declassified. There is little to no information on The Unit and their missions anywhere. Look all you want, but you’ll keep seeing the same ops over and over. Like I said. There is a reason why they’re called the quiet professionals. You only think like that because there are no movies about them. Stick to larping/cosplaying as your favorite SEAL and leave your ignorance to yourself.

nothing but respect for these men, however,I think so many guys who go into bud/S psych themselves out. you don't have to be Michael Phelps and superman combined. I have never been in the military. but will be in a year or so. I just think you have to have the mind set I have; enjoy pain. laugh when you are being screamed at. laugh when you are freezing cold. just laugh and remind yourself everyday that there is nothing else I'd rather do. this is it for me. if you aren't injured then you should make it with that mind set. I believe I heard rob O'Neill say he didn't have much experience in the water when he went in. he just wanted it bad enough.
