You ended up with a great looking Huntercane, well done!!! I really like these new style Airfix kits in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale, they are fairly easy to build and have nice detail, sometimes even a bit too much. :) It was fun choosing the kit with you, just a shame they didn't have one more.. but I sure enjoyed doing my Spitfire instead, and having fun is what matters most. It was great seeing you again and it sure was a good day out at the museum. One day, somehow, I'd like to take you to Hannants proper, outside Lowestoft. It's not a place anyone would consider small.. ;) Thanks for wanting to do a buddy build with me and here's to next time.. :) :)
That must of been a wonderful experience. Most kids today don't think of a model kit as a cool gift to receive for Christmas but back then, it was truly a sign of love. I can remember receiving a model kit for Christmas when I was a very young and I was so happy. 😀😀
I recently got an airfix vintage kit portraying a dogfight between famous german ace The Red Baron with british plane. Very interesting kit with two planes.
A friend of mine says that the model airplane kit world would be NOTHING like it is without the old-time Airfix. Airfix has done kits of planes that you can get nowhere else. I suspect they stayed with 1/72 because of the smaller square footages big city dwellers in Europe often have to contend with, but I can't say that definitively. Airfix distinguishes their older designs with a note that the kit is a vintage kit. Their 1/72 P-40 is very nice, I have their Spitfire, Wildcat and P-51 as well as their 1/48 English Electric Lightning ... all very very nice kits....
You may not believe it, but yesterday I thought to myself "QDC hasn't posted in a while” and today, here you are :)))) It's always a pleasure to see your cat too :) Nice build with that one. I grew up on Airfix and Matchbox models, but I never considered them of great quality. Every time I buy one, I regret it. In addition to the obvious Tamiya, nowadays there are many quality alternatives. Regards!
Well, it's cool to know that a viewer likes to think about me. The newer kits from Airfix are good and most of them are reasonably priced. Maybe you should try one of their higher end kits. A viewer mentioned that there's a huge 1/24 scale Spitfire. If you can afford it, you might want to look into it and see if you like it. Take care 😀😀
That was one of my just for fun kits. I normally buy larger kits' 1/48th scale or bigger for aircraft and for armor models. I do have a small collection of 1/72nd scale kits. As I said. They are a lot of fun to do for a weekend project. I'm glad you had a chance to go abroad. It is something that not a lot of people have done. The ability to meet and see other people and to just look around and see what else is out there. You happen to be one of the lucky ones. Don't ever stop building models brother.
@@qdc748a I have had the chance to travel in the past. I have made some new friends that way and had the chance to connect with some old friends. I also just love seeing new places and the experience.
Great to see you and buster again. I built this kit last year and enjoyed it very much its a nice little kit I look forward to seeing your next video all the best from here in the UK 👍
Good old Hannants! Been around for donkey's years and their mail order service and range are outstanding! Airfix have an undeserved reputation...... it's true that many moons ago, what with bankruptcy and mergers, they were a shadow of their former selves and they relied upon re-releasing old and dated models. Now, however, they are outstanding. Perhaps not quite as sharp as a Tamiya but very very good. Try any of their more modern kits and you won't be disappointed. My next build is an Airfix Hawker Tempest. It's excellent 👍
Hi QDC nice to see you. In the 70s we had Airfix, Frog, Italieri, Heller. The 1/72 Spitfires or Hurricanes of these brands were incredibly less detailed than the one you built...Now I see that Airfix produces very good models at 1/72, it's great. Your paint job is really wonderful, well done! 👍👍👍This MK I with two-bladed propeller may have participated in the Battle of France....
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I think I'm improving my skills with time but I don't brag about it. There's no need. I agree, today's Airfix kits are better. Take care 😀😀
Another great video, Congrats!! In special is evident your improved technique of painting. The Airfix models are perfect for begginers still kepping a high quality. Another interesting plane would be the Hurricane of Douglas Bader the Ace without legs Keep ahead and smiling,,,and the best for Buster!!
I would absolutely love to go to one of these museums where I am from they are about 5 hours from me and I wish we had a really good hobby shop where I am from we don't have anything here and it really sucks

very nice indeed! I was looking recently also for the video of the Renault Ft1 that you've done a couple years ago but I cannot find it on your channel :( it was removed ? have a nice day :)
I would totally disagree. Airfix is one of the oldest manufacturers of model kits, and their newer products are superb. Try their new 1:24 Spitfire if you want a fantastic kit.
Don't get me wrong. I like Airfix. I said Airfix is often overlooked and more people should build them. By the way, I should build the 1/24 scale version of the Spitfire. It's massive! 😀😀
Really like your videos! Can you please explain why you spray bright colours after your primer coat, but prior to painting the main colours? Not seen it done like that before, just keen to know! Thank you.
I grew up on Airfix models and they have a special place in my heart.
I can definitely understand that! When I was in the UK, Airfix is like part of being British. There is a sense of pride building an Airfix kit. 😀😀

Ah, the time before the internet. Before the darkness.
Cat for scale!
awesome to see friendships made from the mass love of the model hobby!
You're welcome.
My first model was an Airfix Saab Draken my dad gave me for Christmas, back in the early 70's :)

Just built the Airfix Spitfire. quick and easy build. had issues with the decals, but an enjoyable build nonetheless.
Most Airfix kits are great and fun to build!
@@qdc748a great kits for beginners as they are inexpensive as well. I got the spitfire for less than $10.
Not seen you for ages love your videos
The Cat, i love it :D And the model is good too, for a Matchbox model :)
Thanks. I'm not entirely sure, but I think this is a new tooling from Airfix and not a re-boxing. I might be wrong. Take care.
@@qdc748a It is very simple to build. Either way. And maybe a little suggestion, pinwash clearly enhances such a model ;)
