    At last, I've found a video of yours of a kit i own. I'm half way through mine (8 mins in the video).
    I'm really enjoying this Hurricane, I've never built one before.
    Thanks Gary 👍

    I 'm loving these videos!
    been here for a while and I must say you're quite talented. I've learnt a lot from you like masking off sections to paint, I also respect how you don't always weather an aircraft to the point where it looks like it wouldn't fly - too many do that nowadays (myself included on my latest build haha)
    I've got a suggestion for a video or two - I'm a brush painter so I've got a bit of bias with this suggestion
    But I reckon you should have a crack at a back to basics build - using brushes only - it's so hard to find brush content on youtube now that everyone has an airbrush.
    I'm on a budget and many modelers are too so I'm sure it would appeal to many.

      Hey Kangy - can I point you to my earlier videos on the range offered last winter by Aldi - a Bf-109, FW-190, Hurricane and Spitfire and Jet Provost - all of those were made and painted with what came in the pack - i.e. the tube of poly cement, a no.2 brush and the Humbrol acrylics. I wanted to do them just as anyone who bought them would have done! It's quite a discipline to do this kind of thing now and again!

    Really have to second your compliments to Airfix on the step up in details on the 48th scale version, especially how you show it Gary. Woke up to let the dawg out and started watching. Paused it few minutes in to make coffee and restarted when it was ready. Level of details in the steps, along with the extra parts for variations fully surprised me. This would be fully worthy of a side by side comparison of the 72nd and this 48th scale. Might be something you can put in the can for a build schedule relief video set. Nice job on the angles while still being able to see what you're doing 👍

      Thanks for the feedback man. Good to know I'm getting a few things right! The 72nd scale version, which is a 2013 tooling, is OK but not a patch on this. I did a video on it a while back. I am looking forward to comparing it with the 48th Arma Hobby kit when that is released in June, because their 72nd Hurricane is very fine.

      @@garys_stuff sounds like a great set of videos to have canned for a vacation/sleep catch-up. 72nd/48th of each, then sideways 72nd to 72nd, and of course, the 48's. Really digging the format. You chose well. Just don't overdo it. I know there are many hours behind the scenes, editing etc. It's all appreciated. Hopefully you can get a bit of extra use by doing some comparison/contrast and stretch here and there. Your hard work is making a difference at my (and sure others too) enjoying the hobby, hoping you get a bunch too👍☕ Cheers and again Bravo Zulu - Well Done

      Cheers man. I did do one project (sadly pre-YT) where I built one of everything flown by 800 Naval Air Squadron from 1933-2010. It was the squadron in which my father served. So, 16 types, plus the various marks (e.g. Sea Hurricanes Ia, IIa, IIc and XII; Seafires XV, F.17 and FR.47: Attackers F.1, FB.1 and FB.2, etc.) plus with and without wing folds. 47 kits in total, all in 1/72. Now I'm tempted to do all 16 in 1/48 as well. If Airfix ever do a 1/48 Supermarine Scimitar then I'm on! Oh, and a Hawker Osprey....

    I found it easier to assemble all the aluminium cockpit structure parts first getting good contact then airbrush as a complete assembly except the seat and its back bulkhead , but that's the joy of model building looking and learning from different techniques

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  2 года назад +1

      I was considering that, but then I had't read through far enough to see that the seat goes in last so the rest of the structure could be made first!

    I have built 2 of these kits, a Mk 1 and a trop version. I had avoided Airfix because i listened to all the complaints about them, but i really wanted a Hurricane and this looked like the best. Well it was a fantastic kit, really enjoyable build. You did a great job with your build. I am really enjoying your videos.

    Nice job there... this is a lovely kit; very well engineered by Airfix...... I built one a couple of years ago and it was brilliant!! I like their smaller 1/72 version which has a few similarities to this one, although the cockpit detail is lacking a little....
    A far-cry from the kits that I remember as a youngster growing up in the late 60s/early 70s! The only detail on the inside of a cockpit wall wall back then was an ejector-pin mark (if you were 'lucky'!)... the pilot sat on a peg that ran across the gap between the walls..!! 🤣
    And all the panel lines were raised....like train tracks!! 😵 Didn't matter if the kit was Airfix or Revell - they were both as crude and bad! Matchbox came along and had much finer lines - many engraved - and had more detail.....in my opinion! 😉
    Modern Airfix though, are SO much better; I really like their kits, and the Cartograph decals ("transfers" - if you grew up in the 60s/70s) are sublime!!

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  2 года назад

      Cheers Steve! I really enjoyed it too. I remember the kits as you describe them, we have come a long way. I did an Eduard Hellcat in 1/72 a couple of years ago and it came with all the photo etch - some of the levers in the cockpit were insanely small. The Cartograf decals (sorry, transfers) are a proper step up. Hope you come back for more!

      I think for a 1/48 Hurricane you can't go wrong with Airfix really. All they need to do now is re-tool slightly for the 20mm cannon...

      Thanks Duncan! One of the photos used in the video is the Shuttleworth Sea Hurricane taken during one of the Fly Navy days - maybe 2017? Always loved the Shuttleworth shows because you get such a great view of the flight line - seems much closer than the big air bases although it probably isn't!

    Nice build. I’ve just completed the tropical version bar a slight issue with the seat bulkhead it also went together well. The cockpit frame detail is great - shame you don’t see it built! Did you glue the open gun bays? I haven’t but wonder if I should before they vanish! Give the tropical a go - the colours are great on it.

      If I'm buying them they tend to be either CT Scale Models (on eBay) or Eduard (widely available). If the are not commercially available then I'll make my own using thin masking tape and masking fluid.
