This is awesome! I have taken one throwing class so far and am taking my second later this week. I will have access to their studio, wheels and kilns but want a cheapo wheel at home to practice on when I can't get to the studio. Was looking into air dry clay to throw with at home, the Mexican pottery will be on my 'to buy' list.
I love that the milk crates work to boost the height, I'm short but the wheel just on the floor looks too short for me. Thank you for the video it was very helpful. 💕

The wheel starts off on a slow pace and gradually increase with speed as the knob turns. Also the wheel does allow manual turning with ease. Thank you for your comment.

Yes, similar machines have different trays. The Vevor I purchased in the video tray easily slide out just by simply pulling it. This would be perfect for decorating a cake.
