Might I also suggest Tormod the Desecrator, Desecrated Tomb, and Imotekh the Stormlord? VERY easy way to make an army since you'll constantly have things going in and out of your graveyard. Tortured Existence also goes hard in such decks and particularly here as it is VERY easy to rack up descend triggers. Izoni and Mazirek would also be VERY good here. Izoni will make a bunch of insects on ETB and is a sac outlet that'll draw you cards. Mazirek will pump ALL your creatures any time any one sacrifices anything and will let you really take advantage of any 'power matter' cards.
Yargle and Multani for the power matters, or alternatively Bootlegger's Stash with a Vermiculos. 9 treasures from your lands and Vermiculos is a 40/40 you can attack with and then sack to Jarad to take out everyone. If nothing else, the Vermiculos on board stops people from using their treasure generators, or if they do, you have a huge blocker on their turn, or a way to bait out a removal card. Since treasures, food tokens, clues, blood tokens, mites, etc. became such constants in decks, Vermiculos has been putting so much work in on quite a few of my decks.
I opened promo Mycotyrant at prerelease and wrote them off as Commander but this is really cool. Opened Skullspore Nexus too and have a Tombstone Starwell lying around that would be great here Ayara and Syr Konrad would be really strong here I think with how many creatures you have going in and out of play/7 graveyards
We have 32 lands with the mdfcs as long as we can get 2 lands and a ramp source early we will be solid. From there we just mill ourselves to oblivion. It honestly felt pretty solid while goldfishing but you can definitely throw some more in if it makes you uncomfortable.
@@decktechsfordecksmdfcs dont count in a deck like this. permanents are the most important thing about this commander. youre already low on those and having 2 land that dont contribute to descend is the difference between winning a close game and losing one. my list is only on 10 non permanent cards and im currently thinking bout cutting two more just cuz of how much of a feels bad it is if your short a creature for ur gameplan
Ancient imperiausaur is really cool, just remember you won't be able to fully convoke him with tokens unless you had Mycoloth produce those tokens, the ones your commander produces are ONLY black lol
I'm trying to build a variation of this deck right now, well times video for my use haha. I was thinking a Bringer of the last gift could be really fun in this deck too?
I’ve been tinkering a lot since he first got spoiled, and I think this is EXACTLY how I want to build him, ie. wide + power matters. Thanks for the confirmation it works 👍 did you play with aristocrats ideas at all or just didn’t feel right?
You could definitely take it the aristocrats route! Meathook massacre can almost represent lethal in the deck. It’s also some pretty solid board wipe protection. I was able to test it a couple times and he’s honestly hard to stop it’s boardwipe or bust for your opponents. 😁
@@decktechsfordecksgot it. Good to know! Noticing you’ve not put a lot of emphasis here into creating extra tokens, just using the descend mechanic via mill - I’m guessing it feels like the mill is enough to get the tokens you need?
100% one dredge effect and your golden! Doom whisperer also stands out. It’s super easy to pay 20 life and create up to 15 tokens while setting up the top of your library with a pump effect.
@@icansavehiphop Me, I pulled a copy of him, so I'm thinking I'll put him in my Colfenor Saproling deck. That deck can descend over and over again to get Mycotyrant triggers, and it makes tons of tokens already.
Yep, instead of Mycoloth. Mycoloth is quite bad, sac your own creatures (so you need to have some already), wait a whole turn table hoping it survives and then maybe get value. Tendershoot you get value every upkeep, and you don't need a board state, so also quite good after a boardwipe to rebuild.
@matthewmccrory3035 Sorry I'm new at this. I was under the impression if you bought all 4 commander decks, you had all the new cards of the expansion? Ty
@@bm373 not at all, the commander decks have some unique cards from the set, lots of reprints, and some other cards you could get in the main set. But the actual set has way more cards than are in the decks. Honestly best to just buy the decks you like and any singles that will fit into decks you have, IMO. Trying to buy sealed to get a complete set is going to be expensive, and not worth it for gameplay, only from a completionist perspective.
That was to balance him. Saprolings can block, Fungi can't, and also Fungi are created at the end of your turn. So with Saprolings you would be kinda invincible against non-Trample non-Flying creatures.
Fantastic deck tech ideas bro! Totally taking inspiration from your recommendations. I can’t wait to build this in paper

This is exactly why my deck has Pestilence in it. Love it!

I've been looking for another green black commander since I built skullbriar years ago and I think I found one! Thanks bud!
Lich-Knights' Conquest can be busted as well. Crashing drawbridge to give haste. Sac a bunch of the tokens on your turn to bring all your stuff back.
Might I suggest Crypt of Agadeem and Deathbloom Ritualist in addition to Matzalantil since this deck will be regularly filling the graveyard?

I was thinking of building it as kinda a secret Ayara/Konrad deck.
30 lands? Ramp and lands seems very low. You are gonna miss landdrops with 30

Insidious Roots kills in a mycotyrant deck.
LOVE THE DECK ABSOLUTELY GONNA BUILD IT IN PAPER
Same
Hell yea!
Izoni sends her regards
This helps a lot with my deck I’m surprised no proliferate and spore counters for more i guess it is quite slow so makes sense in the long run

I like deathbridge chant in this deck
I built a aristocrats deck with him, idk if it’s all that great it seems kinda clunky atm maybe more of a self mill route is better

No Tendershoot Dryad? Make a Saproling each upkeep, making Mycotyrant stronger each upkeep?
the mycotyrant makes itself big enough if u make the deck right. i dont think this list does him justice.

Just bought 9 legends to build in ixalan 1 of which is this badass fungi
Yo can I make this deck on mtg arena also u got a picture or list of all the cards and the number of them
Did you make the list online
I pulled one at the pre release
How many times have i heard Newsom lmao!
Ain’t enough and I ain’t stopping
Doesn’t there have to be fungus or saproling on the board to play Tyrant? Otherwise he ETB as a 0/0 and dies, right?
He's a fungi. So 1/1
I really like your deck techs. But I miss one thing, your lists arent tagged.
Aren’t tagged?
@@decktechsfordecks i think what he means is tags as in "dredge, tokens, golgari, reanimator" ectect
Its way easier to analyse your decks when you categorize your decks.
Ohhhhh ok I see I can work something out
What commander deck does the mycotyrant card come in? Ty
The are in the main set for Lost Caverns of Ixalan

You basically go infinite with hogaak and altar of dementia. Deck is too strong for casual.
