I honestly can't stand the dismissive and kind dickish behavior people have towards those who are upset about their not being dlc. With how good the dlc was in the first game it's only natural for fans to expect the same thing for the sequel. The constant "they never confirmed dlc in the first place so what does it matter" is kinda annoying because again it's natural for people to want dlc and the people being dismissive towards the people who wanted more especially given the loose ends the game left.
Plus Let’s be real they just killed off Cletus Cassidy Carnage the flame group and that Yuri Dollar store Mortal Kombat knockoff And Deadpool may have accidentally killed them or was it the punisher or Venom, either way, they’re just gonna Say Well, they’re both dead. MJ finds out about this.
I’ve been saying it for the longest we wasn’t getting a DLC if they was going to give us the DLC when the game come out they would’ve said something about it just like they did the first one
@@no.1spidey-fan182and Kingpin was talking shit to Miles in the spin-off saying he’d be back. I genuinely think the new writers for this game did not pay attention to what happened the previous two games. They should’ve just kept the og writers
Still don’t understand how people thought this game was supposed to be GOTY it seems incomplete and empty, they cut actual good content, the writing wasn’t good, and it seems like a incomplete copy and paste of the first game
@VellyDior for what it's worth there are pros and cons. Despite it selling like hotcakes with 11 million copies. I'm sure insomniac will take the feedback and criticism and use it. They are not ubisoft.
I’d argue the writing for the most part was good. I’m not sure what you mean by incomplete copy and paste of the first game as things like the traversal is improved on same with the combat. Is it better than the first game? Nah. Should it have been a GOTY contender? Nah. But id still argue it’s a good game
@alonsomorales3249 Exactly bro. What Insomniac did, or what they didn't do, would be like Ford releasing a new Mustang like it's a fully functional car, but telling you after you bought it that you have to wait 3 months for the engine, AC, and transmission to arrive. Then after a year, they reveal they are discontinuing that model, and all the new parts it uses.
@@DavidJr0917 because he’s on the dot paying full price for a half finished product and being told it’s gonna stay unfinished is a real slap in the in the face
My biggest complaint about the game is how little Peter and Miles actually work together throughout the story. Literally, there are like 6 missions out of the 32 where they work together, and there are no side missions that feature both Peter and Miles. I can understand them kind of splitting apart due to the Symbiotes' influence on Peter midway through the game, but thats about it. Seriously, you can't have this games slogan be "Be Greater, Together" and then spend most of the game not having Peter and Miles together. This was one thing I was looking forward to for Marvel Spiderman 2 and I was very disappointed by it.
I mean that's kind of the point! One of the main themes of the game is the characters not being able to balance every aspect of their lives! Peter is struggling to find the time to be a mentor to miles because Harry is back and they can work towards their goals as a team!
I bought the collectors edition for this game that came with one of the coolest statues I’ve ever owned personally, and after seeing how rushed and unpolished this game was once it released it made me realize that the games industry as a whole has taken a huge hit. It’s not about finished products anymore, it’s about getting it out in a matter of time and fix it later, it’s why Ubisoft is in the worst situation possible for any of these companies. I’m not entitled to DLC, but the lack of communication from insomniac on the status of them as a company and expectations was severely mishandled and the leaks wasn’t an excuse, it’s actually more of a reason we should’ve gotten updates from the team to ensure their livelihood and progress as a company was okay.
The graphical fidelity has made these games too expensive, that's the reason. The costs force It to be released before a certain deadline, otherwise It never makes a profit. The results are incomplete games that look great but are barely playable. You can make a game that gameplay-wise is as complex as Spider Man in voxel artstyle for a fraction of the budget this game had, but the race for *8K, Unreal Engine 5, Tech-Demo, Crysis-level graphics* seems to be the only thing that concerns the publishers now. The industry as a whole will either learn to make uglier but more robust games or It will crash down and burn, and It will happen before 2030.
Because they don’t care about us they only want our money that’s why I say fuck them bro because it’s some of us only switched to PlayStation for this game and possible DLC for all intensive purposes the Xbox is much much better all Sony has is Spider-Man

@@bigbangrafa8435 You say that but you'd probably be one of the main people complaining about a new game from a big studio having sub par visuals. It's gotten tiring over the recent years seeing so many virtue signaling "real gamers" pretend like visuals and the advancement of visuals and audio aren't important. These are VIDEO games. They are a visual medium. If you don't care about visuals, read books or play table top games. But video games, particularly story driven titles like this, are about pushing immersion. And you get to that by pushing tech forward. If the PS6 came out and Sony was like "You know what guys, we hear you. So here's the PS6 with downgraded power to that of a Nintendo Switch so that we can focus on the gameplay instead of visuals" you'd be livid
There have also personal agendas that ruin the story. Like nerfing perter buffffing miles and thst whole mj being like a super human thst csn take out hunter. Swinging in this game is top notch but thats it coming from a guy who bought the ps5 just for that game.
The one thing DLC could have fixed that i wanted was more end game crime variety, i hate that spider man 2 has LESS crimes than spider man ps4, it really bugs me that there just isnt anything to do after beating the game but newgame+.
Communication? Yes, absolutely, Jay. But you know what else? This game SCREAMS pre-baked. Undercooked. Unfinished. They absolutely should have left this game in the oven longer, hell, push it back another year. The ideas here are solid but at times, there are critical elements that could’ve been more fleshed out and given more time. I’m not disappointed persay, I enjoyed what we ended up getting from Spider-Man 2. But I think the data leaks from Insomniac plus Sony rushing the company to get the game out as quick as possible, there’s a lot of factors here that kept this sequel from being better
I think if it was pushed back a year, it could have been a lot more complete. Insomniac is adamant that the story was always this, and that it wouldn't have changed, so my honest opinion is it would have still been a more fleshed-out and feature complete game, if it was delayed, but that the story would have still underwhelmed me. That is, unless the CORE story was always this but way more details would have been added in to flesh it out further in that year.
If anything a small dlc game like miles will drop in between maybe silk as the main but if there’s no planned spin offs then they will have to cram everything into part 3 and will end up feeling like god of war ragnarok, too much going on in one game that should’ve been made in 2
@@EternalNightingale I'm hoping that's how they handle it. Miles Morales was a perfect way to develop his character before Spiderman 2. It didn't rely on the events of the first game to carry it through and remained as its own thing.
I sometimes wonder how the story would’ve panned out if they dedicated the main story to Kraven and the black suit, end with teasing Venom and that’s the dlc story
That’s what they should have done. But having Kraven as the final boss doesn’t seem big enough. But if Peter was the final boss and you have to pull him back with Miles; then that would have been amazing.
@makisbizarreadventure4669 kravwn as a final boss would absolutely work. Make it to where he's finally snapped and went crazy and is going all out. Kraven in comics has beaten spiderman BADLY in fair fights. He's definitely final boss material
Exactly! Why didn't they just communicate this in a transparent way earlier? It seems like they wanted that rumor going because it tabe more wings to the games sales.
@@MavethTheReaper As long as people aren't flying off the handle and sending threats and stuff it seems like the criticism is somewhat warranted. The promise of Insomniac getting this license from Sony was that it would be tighter and higher quality than the previous attempts. In some ways it is but an insane budget and rushes near the second half of development clearly affected a lot of this game and that was before the hacks even happened. People are just annoyed sure but at least they would have known what to expect.
It didn't need it. Pointless remasters are nothing more than corporate cash grabs by producers. Basically scams that trick people into buying a visually/audibly improved version of a game that is still relatively young. A remaster should be exclusive to older titles as a way to bring them back into the spotlight after many years of relative dormancy. I'm talking at least twenty years or so. No point wasting my money on a fresher version of a game that I already have on the PS4.
@@BigBlackBarret It's most certainly this. I bet they just wanted to make the one Spider-Man game and got roped into making Miles, the sequel, even a Wolverine game. Standard corporate strategy of overworking your employees and milking a franchise because it happened to sell well once.
I really worry for the future of the series because it feels like MSM2 established so many side plot lines that need to be addressed. I’m not sure if Insomniac’s going to resolve them in the spin offs or do something else, it just makes me worry about the story side of things for MSM3
I’m also rlly worried for the future of insomniac. it’s not like they developed the first game in a pressure free environment but ever since spider-man (2018) shattered expectations and sales, Sony has been relying on them & spider-man heavily to release games at a quick pace and be a console seller. DLC like combat challenges and maybe extra story with black cat, wraith, and miles definitely could’ve solved a lot of headaches for both audience (restoring consumer trust) and developer (more money); however moving forward with development on wolverine is a good decision also. I’m happy with the amount of insomniac spider-man we got for now and I want to see something new from the studio in the genre.
Sony seemed to drain insomniac especially with miles game and ratchet and then Spidey 2, they should’ve just been on one project and I feel miles didn’t need a dlc like sequel and didn’t sell well compared to Spidey 1
Well, there's a Venom game coming, and the Spiderman 3 game will focus on the Silk story, so I imagine there's enough room within those two games alone to wrap up the side plots from Spiderman 2.

The more and more time this game is out, the more and more disappointing it becomes. I bought a PS5 for Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine, obviously other games as well, but those were the 2 games where I was completely hyped for. But the story is so damn short, the writing isn't that good, it feels so rushed, I thought we would be getting more content, even if it wasn't dlc, at least more suits. But no, we're left with this half-baked pile of missed opportunities.
You're not alone there especially as someone who got the ps5 for this game and wolverine the same year they were announced. But honestly during the lead up to I really wasn't as excited as I was for the first game and miles morales.
Honestly they should have cut some stuff out like the spider bot side quest, the one where you help the school kids as miles early on, and the part where you play as his deaf friend. Those 3 things have no bearing to the main story at all and they should have used the time they spent on them on the main story
@@baki484same. I originally thought I plowed through the Spider-Man 2 story without focusing on the world cuz I just was in the mood for the story, but truthfully the world just felt dull compared to the first 2 games. Where I felt so immersed. It’s sad
For me the biggest problem is that so much of the side content of spider-man 2 was set up for dlc. So I thought I paid $70 for something that would be followed up on quickly but instead I have to wait 4 years when I probably won't even have time to play video games anymore. I'm not trying to sound entitled, but it's still frustrating.
It’s right to feel entitled. I’m sick of shills always saying that game developers don’t owe us anything. You can create the best game in the world and it wouldn’t matter if the community didn’t support it. As someone who paid for the game themself and also called out of work that weekend, I’m upset that I was able to platinum the game in under 30 hours
@@morris01 I platinum the game in 20 hours. I was honestly shocked when it happened. I had problems with the story, but I loved the gameplay. Was really hoping for at least one DLC for more content
I much prefer the first game. I recently played the second ans it's definitely underwhelming. Some of the side content literally has no impact on the main story ( miles helping the school kids, thr spider bot side quest, that one section you play as miles's deaf friend) why were they a thing? If they cut those parts and spent the money on the actual story it would have been so much better
I completely agree. I was someone who went to GameStop for the 12am drop. I was so excited for this game. I remember getting the box and it saying “launch edition” which lead me to believe that there would later be dlc editions. I feel like people saying we aren’t entitled to a dlc are completely correct. But to say that we weren’t lead to believe there would be a dlc is so wrong. Why else would the game box say launch edition. Quite disappointing, as I did really enjoy the game. I wish that we would have been informed sooner that this weren’t the case. It feels like they didn’t care enough to inform us which sucks.
The game would say launch edition, because it's the edition that's released on launch day. Same thing happened to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales if you remember. I even have the launch edition of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Yet did any DLC come out for that game? No.
@@danielmontero8200 I wouldn’t know because I didn’t get the physical Miles copy. But either way even if it was because it came out on launch it still makes it sound like there will be some other edition that is not on launch day. @@alyssajolie Yeah they got that annoying banner on the games now like it's some treat we picked it up first week... so then what other edition of the game is there? DLC was for sure planned. The leaks PROVE IT. They just canceled it at some point. Probably over the summer honestly because they needed more people on Wolverine.
You keep saying, "They didn't promise any DLCs," despite the fact that they very obviously set them up. The Carnage dlc for instance was set up very similarly to the Black Cat dlc in the first game. Where you complete a bunch of missions involving that character during the base game, setting up a dlc revolving around that character in a dlc Edit: While I was writing this comment, I couldn't shake the idea that there was a second dlc that a side mission seemed to be setting up, and almost immediately after posting it, I remembered what it was. Chameleon. There was a whole side mission revolving around Spider-Man researching Kraven's family. At the end of the mission, we got a glimpse of Chameleon, Kraven's brother, who swore a vow of vengeance before we never see him again in the base game, seeming to be a set up for a DLC
True, but anyone can sadly set up plot threads without following them up. I still think there was planned DLC that was cancelled, but people always say "You can't complain there was no DLC when it was never OFFICIALLY announced to the public," and my point is yes, it was never officially announced to the public, but it seems like it was supposed to be there. We're pretty much saying the same thing.
@@MrTrueCaller619 Tbh the Hailey mission was the only "experimental" mission I actually found creative. The bicycles were so glitchy and hilarious and the MJ missions were once again kind of out of place. I didn't find them as dull as in the first game, but I think those types of missions being in the game wouldn't have mattered at all if the rest of the game was more fleshed out. The only reason they bothered people is because it makes you wonder what was cut, while those still made it in.
@@dominiqueodom3099 Wish we could have had both. The Peter side of the story is cool and the Spider-Man portion is necessary too but it's like they started with Pete missions then ran out of time and money or something.

@@R3G-7 That was honestly my first red flag about the game when they announced that its story length would be just as long as the first game. I was skeptical when I first heard this. I backed out of buying it and instead waited to see how it would turn out. I'm glad I listened to my instincts
Best way to describe this game is should’ve been greater. I SO badly wish Spider-Man 2 was delayed so we could get a more complete experience. Unfortunately this game has shaken my trust in insomniac
One thing that people don’t understand is that when leaks happen to a developer, it is a MASSIVE deal especially leaks like this. We’re lucky that it only affected the dlc when the potential projects that insomniac are working on could easily be cancelled.
My biggest issue with the situation is that they signposted DLC so strongly, Carnage showing up was basically a big "look it's the DLC villain!" Moment. I think it doesn't help that this game felt shorter and incomplete vs the first game, 30 hours to Platinum, basically zero post game content, a story that felt rushed and unfinished. I assumed that the reason Symbiotes are still around after you beat the game is because Carnage is now in control of them, and I figured the DLC would wrap up the plot point. Maybe it could have involved Peter giving Harry his AntiVenom Symbiote to combat Carnage. Also I don't like the idea of Carnage being relegated to a side villain in SM3 as he's such a fan favourite character and such a dangerous threat I feel like he deserves main villain status, also if he's a side villain in 3 that means anyone who didn't do all the side stuff in 2 are going to be confused by him just showing up. Idk man I just feel like this is the game Sony used to sell the PS5 to millions of us and it came and went like a fart in a hurricane. You look at games like Halo Infinite and how much that got blasted for how poorly the post game was handled and yet this game seems to get let off the hook by many. I know Insomniac got hacked and it sucks but I feel like them and Sony dropped the ball. Hell the same still doesn't let you change the weather in free roam post game. Anyway that's my half asleep rant, I still love this game, I'm just kinda let down by the fact it was a one and done that took 4 days to Platinum.
@@reality_is_sin No that's just corporate speak. How many times have companies said that there's nothing to announce atm then announced something 2 weeks later at a game show? I find it quite telling how quite a few times Peter says in game "This is all happening so fast" cause IT ACTUALLY IS. The game, while technologically superior, and the gameplay is more fun, serious had way too much going on. Such a shame.
Pacing was the biggest weak point for sure. Nothing had time to develop. Lot of interesting ideas that weren't given room to stick that superhero landing.

It wasn't the worst story, but it could have been much better. For one thing, Yuri's plot line was pretty bare bones throughout the game. It should have been a separate DLC taking place after or parallel to the main story. Another thing I was disappointed with is that Venom was defeated completely when it should have been given the opportunity to escape and eventually merge with Eddie Brock. It's Venom for cryin' out loud. This could have easily set up for a potential spinoff Venom game directly involving Yuri's hunt for Cletus Cassidy/Carnage. It could have taken place in a whole new location as well. It doesn't have to be New York City. Plus Yuri is no longer a police officer, so she can handle the situation however she feels is necessary. The main focus should have been only on Kraven and Harry. I'm hoping they can make a good comeback with the next game. Hopefully with Norman finally becoming the Green Goblin. It's been foreshadowed in both games; quite heavily in the first game. Also hoping to see Cindy in action. I'm not familiar with her but she seems like she would be an interesting addition to the overall plot if she's implemented fairly, and not just shoehorned in. She definitely needs her own side game, similar to Miles getting his to build up his character. I agree that Insomniac, like any developer, should be more open with their fan communities. Like you said, we don't need any crazy information. Just basic news and such; giving ideas of what to expect.
Yk we always heard a lot less complaints when games used to be $25-$40 at release. Games used to be so much cheaper and it made it feel filling for what you got. It felt like you got what you paid for. Now games are $70-$90 at release and it’s a coin toss if it’s good or wasn’t rushed. I’m not feeling like I’m getting what I paid for. I paid more to get a game that doesn’t come with new game+ or the care to complete a good story. $70 is too much for games to not be handle with care for the fandoms
4:10 I come from a similar time where a game would release fully finished, but the devs would make a DLC because they loved the game, and it would be half the size of the base game on top of it.
Yea, i expect there to be more suits, would be shocked if their weren't, but waiting a whole year just to tell us nothing significant is coming to the game is a huge blow, couldve told us in January or somethin, been holding out hope this whole time, making side stuff better, adding stuff or reworking stuff, something to make the game feel fully-baked
Everything just felt like one big cliffhanger not to mention how the pacing of the game grinded to an unbearable halt with Miles’ side content, whoever the quest lead was needs to go because when I’m playing a game about Spider-Man I want to BE SPIDER-MAN and DO SPIDER-MAN things. I didn’t sign on to play High School matchmaker or play through meandering side quests as characters I don’t care about. I was quite underwhelmed by Spider-Man 2 and I’m not really looking forward to the next Spider-Man game or even Insomniac’s Wolverine game. It’s honestly a shame because I’m a huge fan of Spider-Man and his rogue gallery. There was a lot of potential there, but it is what it is.
I genuinely loved this game, but I have to admit it had its flaws for me: 1. I prefer the more traditional version of Kraven personally. 2. Both villains were underutilized. Venom didn’t get enough screen time and Kraven didn’t get a satisfactory ending. 3. I wanted to see Carnage. This is the main reason why I’ve always held out for DLC 4. The ending left no room for Peters return without something drastic happening. Which to me, says that if there *is* DLC, he won’t be around for it and it’s possible he won’t return at all for the end of the trilogy. 5. Multiple characters made one off appearances that ultimately led to very little. Unless they return for DLC I don’t see why they were bothered including. Black Cat is a good example. Appeared for one mission then left for Paris. No ending to her plot, hardly any screen time. I enjoyed what I got but it felt hasty and rushed to include her for almost nothing. The side stories such as Chameleon and Carnage at least left it open for DLC or future game content, this did not.
I understand most of your points, but wdym Kraven didn’t get a satisfactory ending, he started the hunt and got what he wanted at the end, “a predator capable of defeating him” like is there anything missing with his character?
Like I totally get why they arent giving us DLC anymore, but i dont think a hack/leak should prevent the release of DLC. Especially for a game that still has a lot to be seen, story and gameplay wise. I think itll be a disservice to them not to release any dlc. Like its already baffling to me that hackers target good gaming companies instead of just the corporation that control them. But they ought to release the DLC and im fine with being patient for that unlike a lot of the other “fans”.
Exactly! If anything, all this is doing is proving to the hackers that they can actually do some meaningful damage. All this is doing is encouraging them to do it again another time... But if they bit the bullet and just released dlc anyway, wouldn't that show that Insomniac are resilient in the face of a security crisis? That they will always bounce back?
@@CACgaming007 well the hackers did do actual damage. I believe some employees personal information leaked. Identify theft is not a joke… but by a disservice to insomniac i mean it will hurt their upcoming projects and their brand. By cutting a lot of the content that already has a ton of work on it because of a hack, they are saying it’s not worth releasing anyways. When in reality they just need more time, and haven’t properly communicated that within the company and to their fans. This hack could give them that time
There have also personal agendas that ruin the story. Like nerfing perter buffffing miles and thst whole mj being like a super human thst csn take out hunter. Swinging in this game is top notch but thats it coming from a guy who bought the ps5 just for that game.
I think if Sony allowed them to cook more I think we could’ve had more time to spend with the characters and more time to flush out the characters even more before Sony acquired and insomniac games to be fair. It was the breach fall and it was Sony’s fault. It wasn’t insomniac’s fault. They just tried to do what they could and it was fine for what it was. I’m not saying the game was perfect.
This is true about Sony allowing them more time but 300 million dollars is a lot to spend on a game and I feel like if they couldn't finish what they wanted with that much money they were kinda pushing the budget.
Not only I dislike the story but combat feels basic when you compare it to web of shadows which is weird considering web of shadows was rushed in a year and a half. Insomniac had 3-4 years to make this. No wall combat no advanced combos, the symbiote is a cosmetic instead of feeling like a whole different character with a different move set. Was hoping for web of shadows 2.0 when I really got web of shadows 0.5.
I don't know why anyone would be shocked, the leaks already confirmed that the DLC was going to be Venom/Carnage related, and they decided to make a standalone DLC like the Miles Morales game. So of course there would be no DLC for Spiderman 2.
Hopefully they can release more suits especially for Peter, he’s lacking some of the best suits from the first game. Add color swap to them and maybe give Miles new original suits
At minimum, I was expecting costumes and an expansion to that Cletus Carnage side quest. I was hoping we’d get dlc like the first game. That felt complete.
Yeah elements of this game are fun and all I agree but it lacks a lot of the magic of the first game because this story was thrown together compared to that one.
This is why I love developers like Gunfire Remnant2 has had its share of issues but they keep in contact with the community. Updates, patches, player base interactions they’re great.
This worries me not bc Spider-Man 2 feels unfinished so to speak but it worries me more for the future of these games they are gonna have to somehow wrap up carnage, Chameleon, Otto, green goblin, and silk all within a single game. They have already thrown away some characters I was especially disappointed by tombstone he made no sense in the second game he claimed losing his invincibility would only “up the thrill” for his dangerous lifestyle then next game he’s working a go kart track reformed and they rushed Yuri’s story a bit in my opinion. Definitely worried for the story of the sequel/sequels .
Yuri felt like a response to the first game having spider man working with a cop, really pissed off the Twitter mobs. I also felt like this game was rushing to push Miles to the forefront when in reality he felt like he had the worse quest and just felt out of place. They really needed to focus on Peter and show how truly tired and beat down he was by being spider man, setting up the idea of Miles taking the job for a bit
@@carolusrex5213 Yuri becoming Wraith is directly from the comics. Highly doubt Twitter influenced that choice. As for Tombstone getting reformed, yeah it was a bit random but I personally liked that they showed at least one of Spidey's villains being helped by his intervention and reforming into a functioning member of society. Better than offscreening him like a nobody the way they did half the sinister six.
Sony isn’t in charge of insomniacs social media communication. They simply have been lazy and I think the big issue is brain intihar as a creative director lost his touch and prioritized the wrong things in the second game to an extent. Doing let the doc rumors loom then say nothing is being worked on when you decide to release a pc port 1.5 years later. At this rate I’ll be selling my ps5 when my wife and I have a child so I can play with mods
They hyped venom so much and all he did was just show up for 10 minutes, say let's make the world better and that's it. Venom was just an alien who wanted to web of shadows new york
I’m from a time where you had to buy a post “special edition” version of a game to get updates. Now, only capcom still does that and EA is still convincing people that they can’t update rosters online
Wanna know something I realized, in the end of Spider-Man 2, it seems Peter is not gonna be doing spider work until the 3rd game, which means, that the dlc could be for the miles morales game instead, I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up for something that might not even be true, but maybe this is just to throw leakers off so they can work on the dlc without worrying about them
Man, the first game was so good i’m just so disappointed in the second one with the story, and then also with no story DLC let’s hope the third game can really go back to what made the first game so special
I didn’t care I hated the story, writing and choices they made and hated the depiction and outcome of a lot of characters and absolutely hated the content they put in the game. I love spider man but this game was such a disappointment. It didn’t feel like a authentic spider man experience like 2018 was.
I love to look at details. The amount of reused assets made the game look so half hammed. The bugs, the same PIZZA BOX IN EVERY ENVIRONMENT, the rooms all the same, unexcusable. Breaks immersion heavily. The Venom segment was cut so short.
It makes me think what are they going to do with Carnage? if he comes back in the 3rd game does that mean the symbiote returns to peter or he stays with the anti venom to fight him???
@@carolusrex5213 yeah, I wouldn't really like Red Goblin as well. I think that SM 2 DLCs will get resolved in the Venom spin off game, especially with the fact that Carnage will be the main villain and Peter and Miles were rumored to be playable.
I find it wild that it's now considered bad news when a game *doesn't* have DLC. Since when has it been a requirement that a game *must* have more content added post-launch that you have to pay more for?
I feel there's been a disturbing trend in recent years for all gaming companies in that they are no longer afraid or even shy in "rushing out games". Based on gameplay content I experience, I feel like companies are trending more toward "quantity content" over quality product. Pokemon with Nintendo is a huge example of this. As much of a huge fan I am of the Pokemon IP or Nintendo in general, I noticed this first with the Pokemon: Legends Arceus game. I know there's probably earlier examples but this is my own personal experience talking. Games like Arceus come off as being more like a "first draft" than a completed product. I've also been a strong proponent of "less is more". I don't need a new Pokemon game EVERY year. Just like I'm sure sports gamers probably don't need a new NFL/MLB whatever game every year, or pro wrestling gamers don't need a new 2k game every year. But, guess what? We all get them every year anyways. But I think that needs to stop. I'd be ok getting a new game in these franchises every 2-3 years. Know why? Breathing room. Not only does delayed releases give gamers more time to enjoy older products from previous installments, it gives companies MORE TIME to develop their new games. This is what I feel like Spider-man 2 is a victim of. If Sony had given the game more time to breath both in development and in the fandom by making sure the game was more polished, coherent, and COMPLETE, the game would've been a helluva lot better. As it is everyone's in too much of a damned hurry for companies to spit out new content and as a result, quality suffers. But every one keeps mysteriously acting surprised every time a game suffers in quality when it happens.
I disagree with the notion Spiderman 2 was a "rushed game" entirely in any shape or form the time lapse on 1 to 2 is 5yrs, And on miles morales its 3yrs, plus a year delay. Its absolutely gross the amount of funding PS gave insomniac to do spiderman 2 350M that's 150M short of half a Billion dollars to develop the sequel BILLION with a B. To be frank I'm not "mysteriously surprised" I'm completely dumbfounded Insomniac couldn't make a game that was much longer and had better gameplay mechanics by a mile than the first game in conjunction with having every resource they could ever need or want being brought to bare on spiderman 2 Its way simpler than what you suggested, insomniac didn't want to make a good game, they didn't want to be greater.
@BoldAlphawolf I blame Sony mostly. I could be wrong because i heard this a while ago, but if i remember correctly, It seems like the original story that they actually had planned out and significantly better written was shot down by Sony and they had to rewrite and cut out large portions of the story because of it. I don't think it was rushed initially but after the rewrites it became rushed.
@@andyowski1515 they mightve lied to cover for Sony so they don't look bad (or I could just be wrong) I wouldn't be surprised though Sony hasn't been looking like the most reliable company these days
To Arceus' credit, it was a first draft. It was the first game not developed by Game Freak, the first game with an entirely new gameplay loop, with no certainty that it was going to be a success. The only genuinely new features in terms of gameplay (such as manually throwing pokeballs) were also shared by Scarlet/Violet, minimising the sunk cost of development if the game didn't work. You'd have been better off picking another example, because Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet are the low-effort games in the franchise. Arceus was a draft, and while I'm not holding my breathe, I'd expect Legends Z-A to come more fully-featured.
They literally set up dlc storylines in the post game, storylines that could have really put a cherry on top of this game, sweetening the symbiote storyline with carnage, advancing and expanding the in game world/universe with the addition of spider gwen and a spiderverse, all of which would wrap a nice little bow on the game that we have here and hyping up players for future installments like a spider gwen game like the miles solo game and a spiderman 3 with all three spiders as playable characters
U can also blame Evan filacra he such a yes man bra oooooo this man blocked me cuz i told him to get off his knees from insomniac , manz beggin for involvement like bra your a whole grown ass man
Even without DLC, I still enjoy this game. I don't think games inherently need DLC, because it just feeds into micro-transaction culture, so I'm actually happy that I won't have to spend my hard-earned money on content that should always be base game. DLCs are a scam
Exactly, although, if this game had dlc, then I think it would’ve been ahead of SM1 for me, but as far as it stands, it’s right at the same level, also dlcs don’t always have to be paid for, like GOWR Valhalla was revealed to be free, same goes for the Sonic Frontiers Final Horizons dlc, and even if you do have to pay for them, it just depends on whether or not you think it’s worth it
I think some of the community needs to be blamed. Some youtubers have been releasing sm2 dlc videos like atleast once a week for the past year like wtf
Yeah, but that's like a small fraction of the overall community. Punishing the entire community for the mistakes of like six or seven content creators that we know by now (are only in it for the money and to stay relevant) is absolutely silly.
@@CACgaming007 That's why I said some, I hate how they did this because it kept the idea in everyones mind of dlc constantly even tho it always had a low chance of happening

Sadly all of that is gone now. Seeing what I now know to be these cancelled DLC plans get announced would've been overwhelmingly hype
It’s comments like you who I don’t take anyone seriously without insert their “DEI” quotes. In what way is Insomniac is showing their “DEI” in any of their games? For the record I think you present your problems very fair and do a good job acknowledging that that’s your feeling and there are people who see it worse and people who see it better
Honestly, even though I can’t speak for insomniac personally, I do believe the cyber attack and the next 15 years of plans being leaked kinda screwed over any chance of imminent DLC.. Plus, stress from Sony, and very, VERY impatient fans also really isn’t helping. I get it, I’m sad also. I was really hoping suits from older Spider man game titles would be imported (Pc mods now got that covered looking back now with hindsight). Obviously the cliffhangers from the side quests, as well as more into how Miles is handling the stress himself of New York on his back (again) and how he’s dealing with it. Also expand on what Peter’s doing with his life with MJ, the whole Cyndi Moon cliffhanger, what might lead into Wolverine, and I could go on.. I really enjoyed and got great memories from this game, I’m hyped for what will come from the PC port, maybe I just wasn’t getting my hopes up after the cybersecurity attack, fans constantly talking about DLC and when it’s coming, maybe it’s also me being occupied on my personal life also and being really busy as of late... Like I said, I love this game and the heart that was ported into everything about it. I’m just being realistic about my thoughts, as well as past events leading up to this.. (Edit: I took another look at r/Spidermanps4, I won’t be surprised if insomniac doesn’t even make a 3rd game, the fanbase is treating them like Complete Dogsh*t over no DLC, and using that to say the game was trash (not everyone obviously, but still), when literally ANY OTHER superhero fanbase other then Batman would have killed or make a wish to the genie himself for a game with a much quality and heart that insomniac has given to these Spider man titles...) Thanks for everything Jay, we greatly appreciate it!
I’m with ya buddy, I personally loved the game and at first when Insomniavc was acknowledging the spider-cube bug and patching it up and announcing the collab suits early on it felt like this game was gonna get the same treatment first one did, I mean that one kept adding suits of the movies that we’re coming out, but now…it’s just sad
Thanks for this video man. Our views almost mirror exactly about this... wasn't fully cooked for sure but I was definitely expecting DLC for this game and am damn disappointed that the DLC isn't really happening. But I do get everything else that has happened and how that's possibly a factor.
Wholeheartedly agree. As a brand/business, it's very unprofessional how insomniac handled the social interaction with customers. This was clearly an un finished product with a chunk missing. Dlc was obviously planned but scrapped. I kinda want a new developer to take a crack at spider-man. Insomniac made one"Great"Spidey game with the first. Miles Morales was solid but should've been a DLC. SM2 was pretty underwhelming. If I'm skipping past annoying cutscenes on my first playthrough, we gotta problem.. The fight mechanics is mediocre and a bit stiff. Spidey is supposed to be a lot faster & versatile. The side missions in miles morales was better than what they gave us in SM2. what a letdown.
I just want Microsoft to port all the old Spider-Man games to modern platforms would kill for a web of shadows remaster that game is way better than anything insomniac ever came up with and I will die on that hill
Its a huge middle finger to the face of the fans that showed up to SM2 day 1, and when SM3 shows up I hope the fans speak with their wallets next time around. If you are one of the players holding on for more content. Its ironic the running slogan for sm2 was "Be greater" an they didnt do something greater than first game, an now its confirmed they wont even try lmao.
It's very disappointing but not surprising that they confirmed no dlc. My big worry is that there will be basically no setup for Spider-Man 3. The most important parts to me of the city that never sleeps was the Miles setup. It is such a missed opportunity to bridge these games together but we'll have to wait and see.
I really wanted some Carnage DLC to complete the Flame saga with Wraith. I am bummed that the DLC isn’t coming but still what we got is still great. Yeah some parts are rushed but still I give it a 9/10. Actually I think the main story is slightly better than the first because there’s less drama with MJ(The “breakup” stuff gets really old & irritating in Spiderman stories) and the friendship with Harry/Miles was well done.
I would have liked story DLC. 1. Maybe you play as Kraven to defeat the villians he killed. 2. Or a side story chasing Cassidy which leads to him being Carnage for Spider-Man 3.
Sony didn’t rush them. Bryan ithihar got told that he wasn’t going to make the deadline and they essentially gave him an ultimatum. The devs decide the speed of which these games come out and he decided to release the game despite it being obvious they needed atleast another year
I guarantee if they won some awards at the game awards they would’ve made DLC for this game. Unfortunately the game didn’t deserve any awards with how many glitches and the memes the game had
Yeah, Spider-Man 2 and Tears of the Kingdom were massive disappointments for me in 2023. They're literally just rehashes of their previous entries with little to no innovation
I see a lot of people saying they should have pushed the game back but I don't think that was possible. They already spent too much money on it as it is. Doing that would have done more damage than it already did.
The Spidey videos are always super peaceful discussions in the comments sections where everyone gets along and holds hands, so I'm very interested to see your thoughts on this one. So with no dlc happening then what’s the point in keeping the game on our ps5’s

I’d argue the writing for the most part was good. I’m not sure what you mean by incomplete copy and paste of the first game as things like the traversal is improved on same with the combat. It's absurd the way Insomniac are acting like features that should have been there at launch are post game "content".

They aren’t together simply because the plot wouldn’t happen if they were. Why wouldn’t Miles come help fight Kraven at the zoo?
Ngl I was really hoping Miles wouldn't be in it. It takes too much of the spotlight off Peter.

A remaster should be exclusive to older titles as a way to bring them back into the spotlight after many years of relative dormancy. I'm talking at least twenty years or so. It's most certainly this.

I have never personally seen or owned a game that said “launch edition” before which is why I feel mislead.
@@alyssajolie Yeah they got that annoying banner on the games now like it's some treat we picked it up first week... so then what other edition of the game is there? I guess it just means its a first printing now, but who cares about getting a first printing of a game when the next printing is the exact same? I get why you thought that.
Edition taglines don't mean shit. It's a bit like how most games end up with a GOTY tagline about 6 months later even if they didn't win any awards
Where you complete a bunch of missions involving that character during the base game, setting up a dlc revolving around that character in a dlc
Edit: While I was writing this comment, I couldn't shake the idea that there was a second dlc that a side mission seemed to be setting up, and almost immediately after posting it, I remembered what it was. Chameleon. There was a whole side mission revolving around Spider-Man researching Kraven's family. At the end of the mission, we got a glimpse of Chameleon, Kraven's brother, who swore a vow of vengeance before we never see him again in the base game, seeming to be a set up for a DLC
Don't get your hopes high, they wasted all the effort & budget on playing as a deaf girl & bicycle sequences .
@@DegenerateJaybut we absolutely needed to have the Bee drone missions over actual Supervillians in a Superhero game sequel in 2023 I guess....
@@dominiqueodom3099 Wish we could have had both. The Peter side of the story is cool and the Spider-Man portion is necessary too but it's like they started with Pete missions then ran out of time and money or something.
There's too many unfinished storylines the dlc could've been Carnage or chameleon or both
Why do it in DLC, when they could come back in the Venom game or be major side quests in SM3?
@@blackmanwithcomputerI feel like there are so many other villains that can be included in sidequests for SM3. DLC was the perfect thing for him, and I don’t want any other Symbiotes in SM3 when it comes to Carnage.
@@NeverOhVer DLC was the perfect time to give peter his break so he can come back in SM3. Miles faces the chameleon and whoever else, maybe introduce Silk throughout the story but distance her so she doesn't become a part of SM3 b/c that would be wayyy to congested.
@@blackmanwithcomputerCarnage is too big of a member of spidey's rogues gallery to be relegated to a side villain.
Edit: The only way that I (and likely a lot of other fans) would accept Carnage as a side villain, would be if the main villain was Knull.
@@blackmanwithcomputer I get that but now SM3 has to wrap up all of this stuff from 2 along with being its own game as well.
The only major positive about this game coming to pc is:
1. Mods that will fix MJ and Peters appearances
2. Mods that will remove MJs annoying sections once again and possibly Haileys unnecessary mission.
And last but not least the overabundance of suit mods that will get ported/recreated for Spider-Man 2 PC.
You have to be some form of sped if you think modders can take out coded gameplay sections from a game. They're not fuckin developers.
Hopefully they could also remove 70% of Miles’s pointless ass main story missions, but then the main story would be even shorter than it already is
@@R3G-7 That was honestly my first red flag about the game when they announced that its story length would be just as long as the first game. I was skeptical when I first heard this. I backed out of buying it and instead waited to see how it would turn out. I'm glad I listened to my instincts
The fact my favorite Spider-Man suit which is the big time suit isn't in this game also kind of sucks

Pacing was the biggest weak point for sure. Nothing had time to develop. Lot of interesting ideas that weren't given room to stick that superhero landing.
How can insomniac go from an absolutely amazing first game to dropping the ball so hard with Spiderman 2
Good video Jay. I would also like to add that Bryan Intihar had a livestream with Ted Price speaking about the back and forth with Sony on not being able to finish on time and also having to remove stuff to get it out.

I await the day a company tried to “crack down” on Modders when they their game actually worth 70 fucking dollars
Really wish the game had Black Cat missions instead of MJ’s
4:10 I come from a similar time where a game would release fully finished, but the devs would make a DLC because they loved the game, and it would be half the size of the base game on top of it.
Yea, i expect there to be more suits, would be shocked if their weren't, but waiting a whole year just to tell us nothing significant is coming to the game is a huge blow, couldve told us in January or somethin, been holding out hope this whole time, making side stuff better, adding stuff or reworking stuff, something to make the game feel fully-baked
Spiderman 2 was just DLC for the 1st one and Miles Morales.
I genuinely loved this game, but I have to admit it had its flaws for me:
1. I prefer the more traditional version of Kraven personally.
2. Both villains were underutilized. Venom didn’t get enough screen time and Kraven didn’t get a satisfactory ending.
3. I wanted to see Carnage. This is the main reason why I’ve always held out for DLC
They better knock it out of the park with Spider-Man 3.
Yea the suits in this game we're a major disappointment for me, most of them look absolutely ugly and i never used them
Nah, insomniac got hacked to the bone. Sometimes doing nothing is the best form of healing.
Really wish we had gotten DLC
A venom game is planned to come out and maybe it can wrap up carnage
@@ozairchishti1264Yuri becoming Wraith is kinda a no-brainer if you know the comics but i just did not expect it to be so crap
Spider-Man 3 will likely be a PS6 title, and that's why I'm disappointed with the final state of this game.
The communication problem is more of a Sony issue this gen than it is a Insomniac issue.

It's just ironic to me that the game was extremely disappointing to me and it just keeps being a disappointment.
Agreed, it feels like Sony doesn't care about the PS5 😞
No wonder why 40% of ppl are still on the ps4
I’m from a time where you had to buy a post “special edition” version of a game to get updates. Now, only capcom still does that and EA is still convincing people that they can’t update rosters online
I would’ve liked to see more suits and to have Calypso come to New York to avenge Kraven.
It’s really sad that insomniac confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will not have DLC but we still have Wolverine to look forward to that they’re working on
Ig insomniac isn’t gonna f that up as well
Wanna know something I realized, in the end of Spider-Man 2, it seems Peter is not gonna be doing spider work until the 3rd game, which means, that the dlc could be for the miles morales game instead, I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up for something that might not even be true, but maybe this is just to throw leakers off so they can work on the dlc without worrying about them
I wish we had an option to remove the spider arms for more simplistic specials.
Permanent spider arms was a bad choice. That should have been an optional suit ability.
Honestly have no idea, maybe make Carnage Miles big villain to fight and the green goblin Peter's? Oh God they are going to do Red Goblin aren't they?
To be frank I'm not "mysteriously surprised" I'm completely dumbfounded Insomniac couldn't make a game that was much longer and had better gameplay mechanics by a mile than the first game in conjunction with having every resource they could ever need or want being brought to bare on spiderman 2
Its way simpler than what you suggested, insomniac didn't want to make a good game, they didn't want to be greater.
@@mattman2964you might be right but if that's true then they're lying about it because in the art book they say this was always the story.
Ngl this news was pretty devastating for me. Generally when IPs or Franchises I care about leak I try to avoid the news so the impact of the actual announcement is still there. Sadly all of that is gone now. Seeing what I now know to be these cancelled DLC plans get announced would've been overwhelmingly hype

That's why future games will fail 🤷🏾 4 yrs ago I was highly anticipating Marvels Wolverine now that ik about SBI & all this DEI shit my hype has died.
It’s comments like you who I don’t take anyone seriously without insert their “DEI” quotes. In what way is Insomniac is showing their “DEI” in any of their games? The only bad thing about Insomniac was the hackings that occurred last year and a lot of employees had to be laid off. I don’t see any “DEI” in that.

Beautiful video. I’m one of the people that loved this game (even though I hate that they made Harry Venom and not Eddie but that’s probably the spinnoff game).
(Edit: I took another look at r/Spidermanps4, I won’t be surprised if insomniac doesn’t even make a 3rd game, the fanbase is treating them like Complete Dogsh*t over no DLC, and using that to say the game was trash (not everyone obviously, but still), when literally ANY OTHER superhero fanbase other then Batman would have killed or make a wish to the genie himself for a game with a much quality and heart that insomniac has given to these Spider man titles...)
Thanks for everything Jay, we greatly appreciate it!
Good hope it serves your toxic positivity mindset right, you'll keep getting the slop you deserve
Thanks for this video man. Our views almost mirror exactly about this... wasn't fully cooked for sure but I was definitely expecting DLC for this game and am damn disappointed that the DLC isn't really happening. But I do get everything else that has happened and how that's possibly a factor.
Crap now I'm extremely worried about the Wolverine game after seeing this.
I was almost sure there was a carnge dlc coming bc the fireguys questline had an open ending
They clearly left Cetus for a DLC with how completely abruptly his side missions end
I know it sounds ungrateful but I can’t wait till another developer gets hold of the spidey license
I just want Microsoft to port all the old Spider-Man games to modern platforms would kill for a web of shadows remaster that game is way better than anything insomniac ever came up with and I will die on that hill
Likely not going to happen lol
You guys are dumb af, Insominac is banger, you guys are entitled
So just because you didn't like one game, all of a sudden insomniac should give up the license? Yeah that sounds smart.
@@MrLeerolljankinsfuck no, especially not story wise.
Well, I got platinum on SM2 when it released, but I’m gonna keep playing SM1 bc it’s actually good.
I wanted a Carnage dlc so bad...
This game is garbage compared to the First
I would have liked story DLC.
1. Maybe you play as Kraven to defeat the villians he killed.
2. Or a side story chasing Cassidy which leads to him being Carnage for Spider-Man 3.
I like this game less and less every time something comes out.
See what happens when people wanna be inpatient and go into company leaks and fricking post everything. Things get canceled
Yeah, Spider-Man 2 and Tears of the Kingdom were massive disappointments for me in 2023. They're literally just rehashes of their previous entries with little to no innovation
Geming been in that start for a while
I see a lot of people saying they should have pushed the game back but I don't think that was possible. They already spent too much money on it as it is. Doing that would have done more damage than it already did.
