@@cswann8as someone who fixes interiors for dealerships. This car should have been reupholstered. It won’t last long. I’ve done these repairs plenty of times when dealers done want to spend the money on a new panel but they come with no warranty. This repair should last 3-6 months. The stuff we use is actually pretty durable and this guy did a good job prepping the job

Probably but it’s a fairly simple process as long as you purchase all the proper products I think you’ll be fine. I think where your work would shine is how much attention to detail you put into it
This how my landlord do things when i tell him something wrong with the place. He'll just repair or fix whatever it is by painting it over the damage 😂

It didn’t. The creases just filled with paint

You can do this too... But in theory, the price it would cost for all the tools and items used, you could probably just buy new car seats

For everyone commenting without having any knowledge. This repair is possiand most likely a legitimate video of a repair. I use this peoduct to repair Luxury bags and what he is doing is exactly the way to do it. If you know what you're doing, you will not be able to tell the leather was repaired.

Except that you can see the repair still in the last shot. Should have used a heavy mesh on top of the repair as well as the patch underneath. Doing that will keep the edges from showing. It was a good effort though

This cosmetic repair will be very temporary due to very weakened leather and absorbed body oils. Replacing the leather is much more cost-effective because it will be far more durable. The leather tore because it was weakened by absorbed body oils which have a destructive pH (acidity). Every drop that has ever been absorbed is still breaking fibers. Leather is like a 3D fabric made of 98% collagen protein fibers which are interwoven and interconnected. And just like the knees of your jeans, when too many fibers break the material tears. Lost strength due to broken fibers cannot be restored. The repair procedure shown here includes a sub patch glued to the back of the leather for strength. However, the body oils in the leather will make the water-based patch adhesive and the new color coating release in a short time.
When leather is new it is as strong as steel by weight. Leather that is 1/8" thick is difficult to impossible to tear by hand. The leather shown in this video has about the same strength as heavy paper. It can be torn easily with two fingers. Consequently, the remaining weak areas of the leather will tear soon.
This video makes does not show how matching color is achieved. Custom color mixing is usually required to achieve a good match. Stock colors are rarely a good match.
Will this hold up on heated seats? Wondering the longevity of the paint and filler through different temperatures of the seat?
The paint will hold up fine. The heat is not enough to compromise the properties of the paint.
The question is will that last a month

All this work for it to last about a week. Don't so this. It's what car detailer for car lots do to sell a car it don't last no time. It's easier just to remove the seat and have a new cover slid on
Some have very good results. This product is very malleable. I have seen it hold for years on the midsole of a shoe that was worn heavily.
Where do u get the grain paper you use. I believe thats what u called it in another video. The paper you use to match the leather grain.
Get a few grains, 800,1200,1500 and go from there. The higher the number, the softer the grain.
@AngelusBrand I was asking about the paper he pressed down into the leather to replicate the leather grain patterns. I don't know if your telling me about the sandpaper or the paper I'm asking about.

Nah that ain't lasting. I bought a used truck, the seats looked perfect, but within a few months in the Fl sun they all split out and look terrible.
