Throne of Ahaz must be one of the most underrated bands of all time - but my vote for their best riff goes to the intro / main riff from the title track on Nifelheim, another example of something being so simple but so utterly devastating... in the best possible way!

Very nice! there are tons of great black metal riffs to choose from. I'm surprised to see no Mayhem (De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas!) or I am the Black Wizards. Forvist by Angantyr is a personal favourite of mine, you should check it out.

Hey guys, I have a question for the guitar experts among you. I just bought my first guitar and I want to learn it from zero. Unfortunately, the genres and songs I love the most are often quite difficult for a complete beginner. And I don't want to start with the usual stuff like "Smoke on the Water" or something. Do you have any expert "insider" tips for me (not so difficult black/death metal or other heavier stuff)? Or should I just practice a more difficult song (for my standards) until I can really play it well (I would go for "Dunkelheit" then)? PS: Great video!
There is something to be said for finding the tab to a song/track you want to play and slowing it right down until you CAN play it (even if that feels ridiculously slow). Once you know it, you will be comfortable going a bit faster, and you can continue this journey slowly until you're at full speed. Practicing it really slowly will ensure you can hear that your technique is correct as you go, and so you know you're just speeding up the right stuff :)

Hey guys, I have a question for the guitar experts among you. I just bought my first guitar and I want to learn it from zero. Unfortunately, the genres and songs I love the most are often quite difficult for a complete beginner. And I don't want to start with the usual stuff like "Smoke on the Water" or something.
Do you have any expert "insider" tips for me (not so difficult black/death metal or other heavier stuff)? Or should I just practice a more difficult song (for my standards) until I can really play it well (I would go for "Dunkelheit" then)?

There is something to be said for finding the tab to a song/track you want to play and slowing it right down until you CAN play it (even if that feels ridiculously slow). Once you know it, you will be comfortable going a bit faster, and you can continue this journey slowly until you're at full speed. Practicing it really slowly will ensure you can hear that your technique is correct as you go, and so you know you're just speeding up the right stuff :)
