I ordered this exact unit, BL-5000SLX. This video is concise, complete and very well presented by Brian. He makes it easy to set up, easy to work and easy to refer back to in case it is needed.
Thanks Brian for the time you took to go through it all so we can get right to using this jack.

Thanks Brian. You sold me on this. I've wanted something like this for some time now. (Other unites took up to much space) We have a car and minivan I do the maintenance on and this would make it so much faster and easier when doing work on each. That was a nice touch seeing your mom at the end. Great video.

Thanks for the review and the details. I will be buying one later this year. They have done a nice job of improving these units over the past year or so. Great solution for those of us who like to do our own work but don't have the space to go all in on a full lift.

Purchased my Quick Jack last month from Home Depo. They had the best price I could find. Also ordered the extra pinch weld blocks and the hangers for the wall. Your video was right on the money for assembly and I didn't need to follow the confusing directions. Hands down best accessory I've ever purchased!

Hey, I just wanted to say that this tutorial is one of the best I have ever seen. I watched it probably five times because I was having so much trouble with my QuickJack assembly. The instructions are not very comprehensive and so your video was greatly appreciated. I sure hope that you teach or coach or something because you have a great communication skill. Again I really enjoyed the tutorial and I hope you make many more. Thanks

+Ozzstar For the convenience and the money it's pretty tough to beat!
Welcome buddy. You can get in the door of the car really easy. The only way to beat it is an in-ground, but then you have high costs, high permanence and lose ground work area.
Have you seen Charles the Humble Mechanics videos working at the VW dealership? He works on a single pole in-ground lift with 4 arms. They're ideal for light 2wd cars, but SO expensive to purchase and even more to install.

+briansmobile1 I remember seeing those single pole in ground lifts when I was a kid back in the day, they were popular in many shops. i'm 45yo now. I couldn't imagine the cost to have one of those suckers installed these days!! Keep up the good work, take it easy

*i just got my BL 7000 EXT but i wasn't sent all of my connectors and such for connecting everything from the pump to the jacks. i sat for two weeks not being able to finish setting mine up before i finally insisted that they send me the parts or come get this thing, take it back and give me my money back i finally got them to next day air me the rest of what i needed and i should have one of these videos up myself soon though i won't be as pleased with my whole experience. i hate when i tell people what's missing and they either only half listen or want to argue with me about how wrong i am. the first tech support/customer care email got me 1/4 of what i was missing then an arguement ensued about what was missing from the remainder of my kit. once they listened to me finally and sent what i needed all is good now BTW kudos for not raising the jack up all the way without a load on it, even though it's all through the instructions not to do that you would be surprised by the number of people that got these jacks and still raised it all the way up on the first run with the jacks. and we'd all like "a few more inches" but you can get more height if you use the Truck and SUV adapters. I bought those with my 7000 EXT that was also one of the things that bend pak initially left out of my order and i had to call back in to get sent to me*

I love mine. There are many times you have to get a car up off all 4 wheels, and aside from installing a dedicated lift in your concrete these things are amazing for that. I have a C5 Vette and getting it up in the air is a breeze compared to other options. If you do any serious or frequent car work, you need these, it's a night and day difference.

Thanks for the detailed view Brian. I was thrilled to see you post this video since I really wanted to see how the new version looks and works. I am certain that I will be getting this model soon. I was a bit disappointed to learn that this new model BL-5000SLX has a maximum height an inch or two lower than the previous BL-5000XL version. They added the safety cams to the support beams which lowered the maximum height a bit. However, I did some research and learned that QuickJack makes an SUV and Light Truck Adapter set for $220 on their website. These are stackable steel and rubber spacers that look to add either 3" or 6" depending whether you use one or two of the steel spacers. This looks like a great option to address any height issues. I would post the link to the product but RUclips will not allow a paste in the comment field.

I love these videos, they really make me feel like I can tackle some of my own repairs, and I'm excited about maybe getting a QuickJack. Here's a question: Any advice on how well a QuickJack would work lifting a Ford Ranger Pick-up? I think it needs to be lifted under the frame, which is a little further inboard, somewhat shorter and/or not the same height front and back. I see QuickJack has a truck/SUV adapter set that looks promising. Thanks! - Jim in CT

Brian, Great video. One of the best. There are some safety probs. Always use jack-stands. There is no lateral support on the jack's back legs and inadequate lateral support on the front legs (needed from top to bottom, not part way. A good push sideways would drop the car. Plan on doing some welding. Even then, use the stands.

+briansmobile1 I would have to disagree, one of the big reasons I subbed was because I enjoy your attitude and personality. As for the lift(s), I've been eyeballing it(them) for ages. Unfortunately still not in the budget, but probably the best option for my workspace(driveway slightly slanting sideways downhill). Hope you have an awesome Valentine.

I struggled to get my post tensioned slab x-rayed and tested to safely drill the holes for anchors for 2 post lift install in my 9' ceiling garage. Now I'm thinking isn't this option just overall better choice? 1) It seems safer since balancing isn't that critical concern 2) Yeah two post will go much higher but I think it is more comfortable to lay down on the creeper than sit and stressing neck.

My Quickjack finally crapped out on me. Basically, it wouldn't go DOWN all the way. The folks at Quickjack HQ tried to help with some suggestions but they eventually gave up at the point we determined one of my air cylinders was leaking. I paid a local hydra fab company to rebuild/replace the seal in one ram for $140 instead of buying a new one from QJ for $200. I've reassembled everything and they still don't go down very well and neither side will hold air pressure. QJ says it takes the weight of a vehicle to lower the lift, but we've all seen demos of the QJ going up and down without weight. I'm afraid to lift my vehicle and test it out because it might not go down and the QJ blocks the jacking points, so there's no plan B! Also, I did wash and detail my car a lot while up on the QJ and all the water caused the joints to rust - I wasn't good at lubing it. It lasted about 5 years.

It's nice to finally see a review on this from someone I trust.
I'm thinking of splurging on a 7k lbs and trying to get and idea on the cheesy factor going on. When up, does it feel solid? Would you feel comfortable buzzing around under a car on your creeper doing this and that? I also see that they seem to leak like a siv, my guess is probably improper installation of the quick connects.
You are also the first person to mention having to bleed the system!
It seems to be absolutely perfect for my needs but I'm afraid to dish out the coin only to find out it's just a bottle of snake oil in disguise.
I hope you Mother enjoyed doing that oil change for you... you deserve a break. LoL
Merry Christmas to you and your family from your big bearded buddy in The Great White North.

the only problem with putting the jacks in sideways is if you have to work on a muffler or cabling that runs from the front to the back of the car. Also the BL 6000 XLT is longer for the electric vehicles since they all have a longer wheel base.

The manual I saw says that the lifting blocks can be stacked for additional height. One small block is 18" lift height but if you stack the blocks you can get up to 21" lift height. There's the extra few inches you were looking for.

    • @aggrex
      @aggrex 3 года назад +1

IME much less stable when the rubber blocks are double stacked as per manual. I returned my QJ after a major failure of the QJ. Subaru OB ‘11 was raised with the QJ and the locks engaged. While considering to keep a jack stand with me before crawling under the OB one of the QJ slid inward and under the OB. The rubber blocks apparently slipped off each other allowing the vehicle to drop fast on one side. I needed two floor jacks to get the vehicle safely onto the ground. I lost all confidence in the QJ. IMO the two QJ racks need to be secured together and never stack the rubber blocks. I would not consider any of the expensive QJ accessories to help raise a vehicle higher than with one rubber block.

Hey Brian, I've noticed that this is no longer available at the amazon place. Just wondering if things started to happen and they were taken off of the market.
    Great work btw

I'm setting here watching this tutorial and when you start talking to your Alexa my wife's Alexa starts yapping. I had to turn the volume down just so I could watch the video in peace. How well is it holding up after 4 years of use?
