G1X Mark III for photos, the bigger sensor (APSC vs 1 inch) makes a tangible difference and the camera is a real pleasure to use in comparison with the Sony RX100. I just published a couple of photos taken in Thailand with my Canon in a 4K slideshow here: ruclips.net/video/XfizFxAJVBk/видео.html
The rx has a much better lens which easily overcomes the difference in sensor size especially at 72mm. The photos don't impress me, it's basically the same image quality as an 80d with a cheap sub $100 kit lens.
From all the tests I've read I am not sure the Sony has a much better lens. It is faster indeed but when it come to distortions, homegeneity and chromatic aberrations, the Canon lens has nothing to be shy about, on the contrary. I must admit that the Sony RX100 V is a very good camera, but I am not sure it has a better IQ than the Canon... and the Canon is so easier to shot with in manual mode. Which is why I choose the latter. Sony RX 100 is not a bad choice either though. Very good IQ, astonishing high-speed burst shooting, 4K video. But more fragile, not easy to use (Sony menus are quite fastidious) and very very slippery. The Canon is closer to a mini DSLR than the Sony with a fully amovible touch screen and an embedded 3 stops ND filter (very convinent for long exposures). Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the Sony either. But I find the Canon to be a better choice for my use and I am not disappointed at all.
Both cameras blow out highlights on a sunny day but I find image quality to be about the same. However, the Sony has high speed burst and other features the canon doesn't and is $300 less.
G1 X Mark III is a great camera for both video and photos!
Best travel camera!
Best compact camera!
Hi, Not that compact. The Sony RX100 IV and V are more compact and more important the photos are sharp.
@@shigsho sony is lame
super foto!!👌
Do you suggest the RX100 V or the G1 X Mark III?
RX100V all day

Just ordered a refurb from Canon to take on bike rides.
Why are these photos so average and soft? The lens is weak.
Just average
