from someone who loves Lewis and his family I truly appreciates you sourcing and sharing these clips. it's really nice to be able to access him sharing his profound love of music with the world. I, his family, and close friends are still saddened by the loss of such a wonderful person, father, and taste maker, and I offer my condolences to you who I am aware also has felt/feels his loss. Thank you again, love, music, and blessings to you and yours.
I am happy to be able to share! Would have loved to have had an opportunity to hang with Lewis and talk music and life and share stories!! You can just see it in his eyes...what a good soul Lewis is!!!
This aired about 2 weeks after I saw the tour on October 9th in atlanta. We got to the show a bit late, right as Prick was ending. We had lawn tickets. I with a very good friend, who was about 8 months pregnant at the time and her sister. As we walked towards the lawn, one of the, I dunno what you call them, ushers?, who was a woman, noticed my friend was pregnant, approached us and asked if we had seats or lawn, we replied lawn, and the woman went "Oh no, you cant sit on the grass that pregnant.", and took us and sat us in the handicapped seating just left of the sound board !! She even came back and gave us some passes to use to get back into the handicappped seating if we left to go to the restroom etc. Very cool of that woman to do. Anyways NIN killed it and mixed up the set from what they'd been playing on the Downward Spiral tour, which I guess this tour was some what a part of as well. They were much less, rambunctious on stage too, and just playing their instruments instead of the onstage carnage they were famous for !! It was cool to see. The transition song they played as bowies band came and joined them on stage was an instrumental version of Eraser, which shifted into Reptile and Hurt, with Bowie and his full band playing along with NIN. Bowie? As much as it pains me to say, he was boring. He ignored 99 percent of his back catalog, and played only very recent stuff. He did play Under Pressure, but none of his hits or fan faves or anything. The best parts of Bowies set was when NIN was on stage with him as he came out. Midway through bowies set, realizing we werent going to get a set of his classics, the crowd began to filter out. Midway through his set, I'd say 70 percent of the crowd had left the venue. And by the time Bowie ended it was almost empty. I have never been huge on Bowie like so many others, to be honest with you,I find him very hit or miss. But I was excited to see him live. And it turned out to be a big let down. As good of a memory as I am known for having, I only have a slight memory of seeing Bowie !!!
Also, I think there were some different clips from this special shown on Alternative Nation. I would watch that show, but Kennedy grated my nerves big time. I used to mute it when she was yammering out her annoying statements !!
